I am happy with the care my mother is given. The staff are nice to her. I sometimes see her in the lounge and they let her stay in bed if she wants to.

Very happy with the care. I don't live locally and don't always get an update on how my brother is doing, would like more updates on when he's not doing well.

Thank you for your feedback, which is always appreciated. I have passed your comment re contact with the nursing team to our clinical lead. I have also checked our care system which shows on each healthcare interaction you have been telephoned with your brother's consent to update you with his current health evaluation.

We, as the family of my sister-in-law, wish to state our gratitude for the care and consideration shown to my sister-in-law during the last 6 years of her life here. She was treated with love respect and a smile. It was the perfect home for her. She was able to stay in the close area she had previously
lived in. Thank you from the family.

Sometimes lack of communication, receiving invoices for something you thought was a gift. You arrive to be given an invoice for a complete year of TV licence only to be given an invoice for the same amount for the whole year a few months later. Apart from being away from my family and friends, I am
happy here and I have been very lucky to have been placed here. I have only been here since mid-December 2022 and I hope I will be happy here.

Reply from BETHNEY KELLY, Partner at Langdale Nursing Home

Our apologies again for the misunderstanding with regard to the mandatory Concessionary TV License of £7.50, which is an annual fee and as you came to Langdale in 2022 was payable from admission to 31st March 2023 and then payable again from 1st April 2023.
Thank you for your feedback which is important to us.

Room is too narrow for modern equipment. Staff work well under cramped conditions and Covid restrictions. My wife is very happy with most conditions but would like more help during the night when she feels very frightened of falling. I feel the home is very good and under normal conditions would rate
excellent with less cramped conditions.

I sometimes find it difficult to understand some of the staff. I'm still getting used to the care home having only recently moved here from another care home. My room is better than what I had before. My experience is generally okay. I prefer to only be cared for by female staff.

My son has been at Langdale for several years now due to his needs following a rta and although this review is for June nothing is different to the care he has received at Langdale always. My son has needs requiring particular care and Langdale meet these in all aspects. All the staff are professional
and caring.

My mum moved to Langdale Nursing Home when her previous nursing home closed. She has settled well and seems happy. So far I am very impressed with Langdale Nursing Home, they are thorough in their care and provide plenty of activities to keep residents stimulated.

I have found the staff at Langdale amazing for all the care and support they give and the comment to all who reside there. I don't know what I would do without them looking after my son like they do. He is so happy there and says they are like having a second family.

Having looked at several nursing homes in the area for my elderly mother, Langsdale Nursing Home was in my opinion a cut above the rest - although others were very good. I was impressed by the way it was run and by the outstanding attitude of all the staff who genuinely looked after their residents
as if they were their own family. I was so pleased they had a vacancy.

My friend has settled extremely well at Langdale. His all-round experience, so far, has been very good indeed. He frequently comments on the quality and variety of the food. As a long time friend, I now have peace of mind knowing that he is getting round the clock efficient and caring attention.

Very happy with mum's care over the past seventeen years. All her needs are provided for. Staff are very caring helping mum in the best possible way, they have patience with mum when she's having a bad day. Mum has her hair and footcare done regularly. Just happy in general with everything Landale Nursing
Home does for mum.

Mum is looked after very well. All her needs are provided for. The staff are very caring, patient and do all they can for her to make her comfortable. Mum had been very poorly with a chest infection that turned into pneumonia, then covid over a span of thirty-four months. Amazingly through the care
mum deceived she pulled through.

I have been here since November 2021. The staff are marvelous can't do enough for you and their girls work hard.
As for the food not much variety.
Always warm or cold.

Dad has been a resident at Langdale since April 2020. Due to the Covid pandemic, the visiting of residents has quite rightly been restricted so my review reflects that restriction. Dad seems very happy at Langdale with the level of care continuing to be excellent. I particularly note Dad's 100th birthday
celebrations and I pay tribute to the staff who exceeded my expectations in ensuring the day was a very special occasion for all the family to remember. I’m looking forward to better times with the lifting of Covid restrictions.

Review Score Change Log

Please note changes are only recorded per day, so if 2 or more changes occur in the same day, it will only show the result from all the changes, not an individual breakdown of all the changes

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.358) out of 10 for Langdale Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.558 for Langdale Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (63 Excellents x 5) + (22 Goods x 4) + (10 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 95 Ratings = 4.558

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.8 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Langdale Nursing Home is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 39 registered maximum number of service users is 7.8, which has been reached with 8 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
