Top 20 carehome.co.uk awards

carehome.co.uk, the UK’s leading care home reviews site, has revealed the best-rated care homes in the country for 2025.

The awards are based on reviews. They are written by the residents who have experienced the care, as well as their friends and relatives. Thousands of homes compete to make it into the Top 20 for each of the 12 regions.

Looking for residential care is a huge life-changing decision. Both for the person moving into residential care and their family and friends.

The first Top 20 awards were launched back in 2014. The aim of the awards is to make people’s search less arduous.

Amanda Hopkins, reviews manager at carehome.co.uk, said: “Our Top 20 awards celebrate those who go above and beyond in delivering exceptional care, as rated by the residents themselves and their loved ones.

“These awards not only recognise the outstanding work of care providers across the UK. In addition they help families feel more confident in their choices.

“With over 360,000 reviews on our website, we are able to provide an invaluable resource for families navigating the difficult decision of choosing a care home.”

She added: “Choosing a care home can be overwhelming and very time consuming for both the person going to live there as well as their family. This is why we hope our awards which are given to the best-rated homes will help to simplify the search.”

In its annual awards, carehome.co.uk names the Top 20 care homes in 12 regions in the UK. It also names the top care home groups.

There are nearly 17,000 care homes in the UK caring for around half a million people. Over 11,000 of these support older people aged 65 and over. Around half of these older people pay for their own care. The rest care for people with learning disabilities and mental health issues and are largely funded by their local authority.

Demand for care homes is set to grow

People are living longer. With 19% of the total population in the UK aged 65 years or older, which equates to 11 million people, demand for residential care is set to grow.

Residents, relatives and friends rate the homes on their overall standard, their facilities, the quality of their care and support, cleanliness, whether residents are treated with dignity, the standard of food and drink, staff, activities, management, security and value for money.

carehome.co.uk lists all registered care homes in the UK, alongside genuine reviews, inspection ratings and detailed fee information. It also hosts a free expert care helpline to assist older people in their search for residential care.

The carehome.co.uk Top 20 Care Home Awards 2025 are based on over 224,000 reviews received from residents and their family and friends between 1 February 2023 and 31 January 2025. Here you can see the list of winners.
