My 91-year-old mum broke her leg back in April 2024 and after a 12-day stay in hospital, she was able to be transferred to Bridgemead to recover until she was strong enough to get home. Our whole family were so grateful that there was a place for her and she was very warmly welcomed there. The staff
were very kind and friendly. Lovely atmosphere, great food and a very pleasant aspect towards the river. Although there were plenty of activities that my mum could have joined in with, it was too soon after her accident to make use of them. After 6 weeks she was strong enough to come home. I very much appreciate and recommend Bridgemead.

Mum went into Bridgemead in 2020 after a serious accident. Unfortunately at the time the Covid 19 pandemic was at its height and visiting was understandably restricted to screens and outside communication.
As Covid subsided and we moved into 2021/2022 things got much better and Mum became much more
settled and enjoyed the care and attention she was given by the very kind, considerate, and professional team that runs Bridgemead. Mum's room had a very nice view out to the river and the banks where the boats pass by. Mum liked it there and thought everyone was very kind, the food was excellent along with the entertainment team, who sought to give fun and games for all along with visits out on the bus.
Sadly Mum passed away in November 2023, the home was very supportive and kind. Staff also came to her funeral to pay their last respects, we were so glad to see them. We will go back and see them to take some doughnuts once again.

My mother was very happy at Bridgemead. She loved her room looking over the river, which afforded her endless amusement with passing boats and ducks, etc. She loved the staff and above all she loved the food. Walks in the garden, while she could still walk, were a great pleasure and she enjoyed the
outings and activities. For myself, I found the manager and his team approachable and welcoming and always ready to listen to my concerns. Whatever time of day I showed up there was always a cheerful welcome from the nursing, caring, entertainment, kitchen and housekeeping staff. It was a great relief to find somewhere that my mother felt safe, cared for and so contented. It was the ideal final home for someone of her age and frailty.

Mum arrived at Bridgemead well before the pandemic. The exemplary staff worked their socks off to ensure that none of the residents succumbed, a massive quality indicator for the kind of care that is so brilliantly provided. I suspect, that being run by a charity - not a profit-making company had a
big impact on this outcome.
Elderly folk, while in care, can be a “challenge”, but the staff only display love and not irritation. Witness the events and activities team led by a particular member of staff and supported by another who drives the bus for outings.
(Would you drive a bus full of elderly folk to give them a day out on the beach? No, I wouldn’t either.. so I salute them for doing that).
All the carers and nurses are jolly and very patient and sympathetic to individual needs and the food is great (you can even choose what everyone else is going to eat for lunch when it’s your birthday).
Overall, the Bridgemead team looked after my mum brilliantly and I can’t thank them enough for that.

My mother had Motor Neurone Disease and spent the last 11 months of her life at Bridgemead. She received excellent and kind care there, with the staff doing everything they could to learn how to care for someone with MND as the disease progressed, as it is different for each person. Her partner and
family were always made welcome at Bridgemead and the staff were always supportive and took time with us as well as with my mother. They were very good at asking my mother what she wanted and needed and listening to her and to us so her care was very personal. My mother’s end-of-life care at Bridgemead was excellent. I cannot thank the manager and all the staff at Bridgemead enough for everything they did.

Bridgemead Nursing Home

My late mum was a resident at Bridgemead from October 2021 until December 2023.
Overall I feel she was well looked after.
However, I have only given 4 stars as there is room for improvement in some areas.
The food was always good but the laundry was very questionable not in its cleanliness but
in items going missing and other resident's clothing regularly put in my mum's wardrobe, very frustrating.
The majority of carers are good and very friendly but it was very easy to see who was in that position purely as a job and those who do it because they care and sadly those who care are the small minority.
In the 2 years my mum was a resident there became an obvious shift in staff becoming unhappy and not always working as a team and on a couple of occasions arguing between themselves which is something that should not have been aired in front of family members.
I feel management needs to use a firm hand to squash this behaviour and to hopefully rectify an unhappy workplace.

I can highly recommend Bridgemead from registering our interest in the home to the end of her time there, was totally professional. The staff were very kind and caring throughout what ended up being her last weeks of life. They showed compassion and empathy at all times and made her last time here comfortable
and dignified. Thank you for everything you did for my aunt and for the family.

Mum went into Bridgemead at the start of the Pandemic. Management and staff made every effort to keep everyone safe and facilitated communication between residents and families as best they could. The new manager has built up a strong team of permanent care and nursing staff which means that there is
less need for agency staff and therefore more continuity of care for residents which is very positive. Care staff are genuine and kind and pay attention to detail, and it is these personal touches which make our loved ones feel valued. Staff treat residents with respect and there is lots of capacity for fun with the wide range of daily entertainment run wonderfully by the activity staff. The food is freshly cooked and nutritious and there is a daily choice. Management are approachable, the manager is easy to chat to. Mum has a lovely room overlooking the river and enjoys meeting new friends at the weekly Day Club.

My mother has been a resident at Bridgemead Nursing Home for over one year. Throughout her whole term of residence, the care provided has been exemplary, the staff are unfailingly kind, supportive and efficient.
The food and drinks provided are plentiful and of high quality. There is a varied entertainment
program, numerous lounges and the opportunity for trips out at no cost.
The nursing home is thoroughly recommended.

Bridgemead Nursing Home

from Andrew T (Husband of Resident) published on 14 September 2023

My wife suffered a stroke 24 years ago and has vascular dementia. She was admitted to the care home, as a result of me having had an emergency operation for Angina to give me time to recover. I had been her full-time carer since the stroke, as she had lost the use of her right-hand side. It soon became
apparent that her physical and mental health needs were far greater than I could continue to give her in our home, as she required 24-hour care. The care home is a relatively small unit with great staff and a good management team. Being now bedridden, the staff cater for her needs 24/7 and have a superb caring attitude. Although bedridden, the staff try to ensure that she is not forgotten or isolated thereby making her feel included. The staff welcomed me every time I attended the home and kept me fully updated on all aspects of her care. I would not hesitate to recommend the home to anyone.
