Barchester Upton Bay Care Home

from Nicola R (Daughter of Resident) published on 24 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

I couldn't of found a nicer Care Home for my Mum. Everybody was so friendly and caring and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff. Everbody made us feel so welcome on every visit, offering us tea or coffee and cake.
The staff got my Mum joining in with activities and took her out
on a couple of day trips which she really enjoyed.
I would certainly recomend Upton Bay and I wouldn't hesitate to put my Mum back in for respite when the time comes.

Reply from Mevin Sohorye, Home Manager at Barchester Upton Bay Care Home

Thank you for your lovely review. So pleased that your mum had such a great experience with us.

My father started at Moors Manor on respite care, to give me a rest. He liked it so much, we asked him - would you like to move in - yes please. He enjoys the company, care and activities, and endless supply of tea and cake. Good for my sister and I to know he is happy and well cared for.

Review of

Barchester Hyacinth House

from Deborah P (Daughter of Resident) published on 10 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5

I am very pleased with Hyacinth House for my mother.

She lives there, so has some comments to make herself, but I know she does communicate her needs and constructively critical comments to the relevant folk. The home is more like a hotel to be in to me. The public areas are so comfortable and tastefully

furnished. All the staff are welcoming, kind and helpful. I remain very happy for her to be in Hyacinth. Such a shame I am unable to continue caring for her myself. She had known Hyacinth from being in respite, and the transition for her, whilst being sad, does not appear to have been too traumatic when the time came for her to go in permanently.

I cannot think of any constructively critical aspect to share at this time.

Sadly, she chooses not to engage with the other residents much, or take part in the activities. She is very disabled but completely 'on the ball'....... But I know there are activities and another resident does pop in to visit her daily.

Dip in attention to detail this month. Not the high standard of continuity previously encountered. Front door still open on occasion early evening, cleaning of high traffic items such as door handles slipped, couple of occasions of no towel in bathroom. Closing missing or other persons clothing in cupboard.
Uneven staff distribution at night?

Reply from Gemma Chalkley, General Manager at Barchester Moors Manor Care Home

Thank you for your feedback we will endeavor to make sure all actions are taken and I hope the meeting we had on the 31st March has offered reassurance.

My parents came to Hyacinth House almost a year ago and have had wonderful care from day one. The home is beautiful and always warm and welcoming. Sadly dad recently passed away and we have felt supported, comforted and reassured during his final weeks and days. Mum has been incredibly well looked after
too and has been cared for by all the staff and residents at this difficult time.

Reply from Kamila Gagala, General Manager at Barchester Hyacinth House

Hello, thank you for your heartfelt feedback. We are so pleased to observe how your mum is growing in confidence and enjoys the outings, something she would not enjoy during the first months of her stay at Hyacinth House. It is rewarding to know M settled down with the support of our staff and compassion from residents even after her husband recent passing.

from Marilyn K (Sister of Resident) published on 7 April 2025

This home is quite insperational with Activities, care and wellbeing. It's like a five star hotel with care.
Nothing is too much trouble from all the lovely staff from management down.
My sister is very happy here + would happily book myself in when the time comes! But please change the 'Brown' carpet
on Memory Lane to the lovely turquoise of downstairs!
Having said that, 'carer' is more important than decor.
This is a 1st class care home - Thank you Moors Manor.

Reply from Gemma Chalkley, General Manager at Barchester Moors Manor Care Home

Marilyn thank you for your kind words which I will make sure I pass on to all of the team. I am so pleased to hear you are so happy with the home and feel like it's a "5 star hotel". Barchester Parley Place Care Home

from M W (Wife of Resident) published on 4 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My husband had a two week Respite care stay and was very happy and well cared for whilst there.
The home is bright, clean and very welcoming. It's feels like a welcome hug when you walk through the doors. All the staff were cheerful and ready to help with any request. He enjoyed the change of scene,
conversation and interaction with new people which gave him a lift on his outlook.
I spoke to him on various occasions on social media and he had so much to relate about his day and the outings he went on. In fact he is saying he will look forward to his next visit when I take a Carers break in September. His room was warm and comfortable with his own facilities and he enjoyed looking out the window at the wildlife, especially the Rooks. I enjoyed a lunch in the dining room the day he went there and spent a few hours with him to get settled in. It didn't take him long to feel at home. Thank you one and all for your care and attention during his stay.

Reply from Gina Smith, General Manager at Barchester Parley Place Care Home

Barchester Parley Place Care Home

from Stuart F (Son of Resident) published on 4 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

Mum stayed 9 nights at Parley Place so I could have a break.
She gets very anxious due to her dementia, but the team always put her at ease and seem to go the extra mile to make her stay as enjoyable as possible.
I have no hesitation in putting mum in the great care of Parley Place and will be doing
so every 8 weeks or so.
Mum is fully aware that I need to have a break from her as I'm her sole carer and she insisted that she wouldn't want to go anywhere else but Parley Place.
Thanks to all the staff as from the minute I drop her off I can switch off and get some me time.

Reply from Gina Smith, General Manager at Barchester Parley Place Care Home

We are pleased mum enjoyed her stay and we look forward to welcoming her back regularly to provide that well earned respite you deserve. Thank you for your kind words which will be passed onto the team.

As a resident in this care home I find that although I would prefer living at home, this is really the next best thing.
I find it to be very clean, warm and an extremely comfortable place in which to live. The staff are very friendly, courteous and helpful, the food is good and we are provided with
and encouraged to partake in various events, games and the like to keep us entertained. I would commend it to anyone aged as a good place in which to live.

Until recently my wife was a resident in the dementia unit at Kings Park Care Home. Initially for a period of respite care and then as a permanent resident. During her stay the care and compassion provided by the whole team at Kings Park was exceptional. As my wife's health deteriorated a move to a
specialist dementia care home became necessary. The assistance given in initiating and facilitating the move by the management and staff at Kings Park was above and beyond what I could have hoped for. I have no hesitation in recommending Kings Park.
