Review of

Barchester Badgeworth Court Care Home

from Michael P (Husband of Resident) published on 19 March 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 3.0 out of 5

The majority of the carers did not know how to treat a resident who is quadriplegic, e.g. they did not appreciate that she could'nt use a standard glass for water or lift the water jug to fill the glass. She has a water bottle on the back of her wheelchair provided with a drinking tube that needs to
be clipped to the front of her clothing, and topped up with water when required, on a number of occasions this was'nt done. She was'nt informed before her arrival that she would need a shower sling to take a shower, she does'nt use one at home. she likes to shower at least twice a week but did'nt get one during her stay. Some carers were not familiar with the use of her night urine bag and woke her during the night to empty it when it did'nt need it. There was some confusion about the administration of certain meds labelled "as required" and the duty nurse did not take her word for their use, although she explained it. Without her knowledge a nurse re-odered all her meds from the surgery

Barchester Ashchurch View

from S C (Daughter of Resident) published on 19 March 2025

Mum moved in after discharge from hospital. She had had two strokes and two falls and been very poorly. It was sad to realise she could no longer live independently at home. Ashchurch View was recommended to me, and I am so glad it was!
Despite not wanting to go into residential care my mum had settled
in within a few days and now, five weeks later she is really happy and calls it her forever home. The venue is spotlessly clean and the meals a very high standard. But most importantly is the quality of the care and nursing staff. My mum loves every one of the team that take care of her. They are kind, friendly, warm and compassionate. Mum says she feels so safe and secure and doesn't need to worry about anything as it's all done for her. There are activities and clubs twice a day so already mum has made new friends. As for me, well I have peace of mind knowing mum is being supported and cared for by people she likes and in a place that is beautiful, warm and safe.

My father spent the last 8 months of his life at Moreton Hill Care Centre. He was cared for with care and compassion from the day he arrived until the day he died. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. We could not have chosen a better home. There is a wide range of stimulating activities, lovely
food & recently refurbished rooms and all in a beautiful setting.

My Dad (92 years old) came to Badgeworth Court for some respite care after a fall. From the moment I first made contact with the care home, I was so impressed with their professionalism and care. During his short stay there, Dad was so well looked after, all the staff were lovely and the food was great!
He could not have had better care and I felt so confident and relaxed about leaving him there. He thoroughly enjoyed his week at Badgeworth and with their help, made a speedy recovery.

My mother was very anxious initially about going in for respite care, this is the third time she has stayed and she is very settled and has made some lovely friends with other residents and staff. Everyone is so friendly, all the staff remembered her name when she arrived and they all made every effort
to ensure she was well looked after, safe and comfortable. She will be back whenever we go away.

From first meeting with the manager (for mum to be a respite user), nothing has been too much - even severe food allergies have been catered for. All staff are caring, nothing is too much for them helping mum to settle in.

Moreton Hill Care Home have welcomed my mother extremely well. The staff are always encouraging and caring. They always are so helpful and cheerful. The food is to a very high standard and their attention to detail with potential allergy awareness has been super. The number of activities are amazing
- especially over the Christmas period. It is a wonderful Care Home.

When I first came after hospital care, with pneumonia and a damaged tendon and ligament I developed a heavy cold and being weak this went onto my chest. This had taken me into a very bad condition and with the help and encouragement from your staff, my family, and your physio, pulled me through from
a zimmer frame and being very very weak to smiling and joking and walking with a stick. Building my strength and confidence back and having the ability to go back to my own home. Many thanks to all who helped me from a bad place to where I am today, big big big thanks. Will miss them all.

This place is incredibly well organised. It is clean, attractively decorated; everything works very well and is done with style. Most importantly, all the staff are very professional, charming, good humoured, respectful and have the knack of remembering everyone's names from day 1! The only slight negative
was the food which was occasionally below par.

My father had a very challenging Christmas and New Year having been hospitalised with pneumonia. At very short notice the Hunters team were able to step in to support. The care they gave during his 4 weeks of recovery was excellent. They were friendly, supportive and knowledgeable and I really don't
know how we would have coped without them. A huge thank you from my Dad and our family.

Warm welcoming and friendly positive vibes! Tiny suggestions: - Food is good - but could be a bit warmer - Staff are lovely but resident wishes they could come quicker when button is pressed.
- If possible please encourage father in law to interact with activities/spend time in the lounge. Thank you
for looking after my father in law.

I visit this care home regularly and it's amazing. The care team are very attentive. The patients are very relaxed and happy. It's clean and I would highly recommend this care home to anyone. The menu smells and looks great although I've never tried it. Fresh cakes made daily by the chef.

I wanted to thank everyone looking after my parents since they moved into the care home. The support I received when visiting or on the telephone/email is invaluable. Dad has been very poorly over Christmas and was admitted to hospital. I felt confident that on discharge back to Badgeworth Court Care
Home, all his care needs would be met to a high standard and with dignity.
Special mention to the manager and all the nurses and two particular members of staff (my guardian angels).

Barchester Ashchurch View had been my dad's first choice when he was a resident in York suite and his experience over two years, when support was needed, was exemplary and this became my first choice when my husband needed to have care for dementia. The staff are so caring, patient, cheerful and encouraging.
They respect people's dignity and show great empathy for their feelings. There are plenty of activities on offer to stimulate interests and skills and the food is so tasty with plenty of choice. The atmosphere is warm, welcoming and homely and all the nostalgic memory objects and pictures are reassuring and comforting. There are plenty of areas to visit in perfect safety within the unit too, giving space and privacy.
