A truly first class facility with the caring and professional staff team to ensure a throughly safe, secure and successful stay!
Mum was resident for more than a year before passing away peacefully. I can not priase the staff highly eough. Care was brilliant, medial support first class and the food,
support and personal care was exemplary! Even at times when the home was very busy staff made time for individual support and care and always made time for a cuppa and a chat.
The individual attention was also much appreciated - the 'would you like a cuppa', popping in for a quick chat, 'how are you today' made all the difference and gave family the confidence and trust to know mum was in good hands.
Staff are a genuine team! with clear support and care / concern for one another. This then feeds-thru to residents in that there is uniformity of care, standards are upheld and quality is foremost. Honest!

We sadly lost our mother in January and are really missing our regular visits. Mum was a resident at Threshfield for 3 years but, prior to this, had respite care on a number of occasions for up to 3 weeks duration. We have been impressed with all the staff, who always made us feel welcome, but in
particular for the standard of care they gave mum. She was able to live her final years in lovely surroundings and with excellent nursing care.
We loved seeing all the photos on the social media page, particularly when the animals visited. It kept us in the loop and gave us peace of mind that mum was involved in the many activities.
We are also extremely grateful for the support the staff gave us in the last few days of mum's life. They carried out regular checks on mum but did so unobtrusively, giving us space to spend time alone with her. The staff also offered us food and drink and couldn't have been kinder when the end approached.
We are so lucky to have found this wonderful care home.

Reply from Stacey Nicholson, Manager at Barchester Threshfield Court Care Home

Thank you very much for your kind feedback which i will share with the team, it was a true pleasure to care for mum in her last 3 years of life, staff grew very fond of her indeed and she is missed in the home. We will look back on the social media pictures with fond memories - Take care and love to the family, Stacey and Team.

My mother arrived last May after a fall at home followed by a week in hospital. She was undernourished and very frail. After only a few weeks at the Dales, she had put on weight and was in a better state generally. Despite wishing she was still at home, she has become used to living in a care home and
seems content. The care she receives is excellent.

My friend was increasingly needy - requiring all physical care including feeding. She always looked clean and tidy, well dressed and cared for. She was usually up and positioned so she could interact if she wished. With more qualified nurses or physiotherapists care could be improved - my friend developed
foot drop and contractures. Overall the staff were kind and gentle in their interactions.

Barchester Rivermead Care Home

from Deborah H (Granddaughter of Resident) published on 17 March 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 1.0 out of 5

As my gran was funded by the local authority, she was moved to Rivermead against my wishes in 2023. I would urge anyone seeking a care home for a loved one with dementia, to look elsewhere. There was no care in this 'care' home, in my opinion. Please see beyond the fake smiles and fairy cakes. I believe
the manager lied to me on several occasions, which led to a complete breakdown of trust. My gran was always hungry and thirsty when I visited. No one available to even get her out of bed most of the time. She wasn't treated with dignity or respect. She constantly had dirty hands and eye infections. In my opinion, she was extremely neglected. When I requested for a GP to examine her, this was not acted upon. I believe Rivermead have staffing issues,(previous CQC report also mentions this). They are heavily reliant on agency workers who referred to my gran as 'him' then laughed, yes laughed, when I asked if my gran had gone on end of life care. Incompetent, toxic management team, in my opinion.

Mum has Alzheimer's Disease and has been resident at Boroughbridge Manor for 2 1/2 years. Over that time, and certainly since the last CQC Assessment, there have been changes. The Management Team have been working hard to improve procedures to improve quality of care and experience for residents. Staffing
is an issue everywhere in the care sector, but also the quality. All staff I have dealings with are kind, caring and work extremely hard to provide the best environment possible. All Care Homes are dealing with challenges at the moment, and there are always improvements to be made, but overall I think that Boroughbridge Manor remains the best Care Home in local area that is able to meet Mum's needs, and I cannot thank all of the staff enough.

Emergency Respite was prescribed by mums district nurses and organised by the Council Adult social care team. A place was found at Boroughbridge Manor and mum has been there for a week now. Communication with the staff is excellent, they are all well presented, very helpful, kind and caring towards
my mum, and other residents. I have noticed a massive improvement in mum already.!
The rooms are kept immaculate, it's lovely and warm, mum is enjoying the lovely food menu, visitor drinks are readily available, even fresh cake.
All the staff seem very happy in the hard career they have, so I'd also like to take this opportunity in thanking them all also.

My father spent a short spell of respite care at Barchester Leeming Bar Grange over Christmas. The whole experience was very positive with a personable and helpful team and excellent leadership from the Manager. The pre-assessment exemplified the approach here, with great understanding shown and a
very realistic 'can do' attitude. The home itself is quietly situated and well maintained with effective and diligent housekeeping, underpinned by a real sense of pride. Whilst not actually sampling any food myself, the Christmas dinner looked and smelt delicious! Many thanks to all the team for their hard work, sense of humour and dedication, very much appreciated.

The dementia care is of a very high standard. The staff take the trouble to connect with the residents and are both kind and empathetic. All the staff work very hard to meet the needs of their residents and families. When the undertaker collected my father, he said in 25 years, he had never seen such
a level of respect and dignity from staff at a care home. The nurse who was in charge was a brilliant nurse.

Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

I don't have much experience with care homes but having my grandma here has been the best decision. The staff are all amazing and have been truly wonderful. In every aspect. The building feels really nice to be in, it's lovely and clean but most of all, the friendly faces make the whole process easier.
It's not easy having a loved one anywhere but their home and having my grandma here has made the whole process much easier. Knowing my grandma was really well looked after has meant the world.
