Very disappointed with respite care experience. Not all that was promised. Would not use again or recommend. Food on 1st day - appalling. Care not bad but understaffed. Effort to aid my mothers mobility did not happen. and do something about the bell system constant beeping night and day not restfull.

I was apprehensive putting my mum in a care home.
Well i am so suprised what a fantastic home this is.
Beautifully done out lovely rooms but most of all the staff are amazing. The manager, the nurses and the carers are empathetic caring and wonderful.
Last week me and my sister thought we were
losing out Mother.
The Milford care home gave us a room each and all meals. How wonderful of them.
The food was lovely and each and everyone of the staff was empathetic and caring.
Amazing home I'm so happy my mum is in here.
10/10 to all the staff!

The Family of and myself can't thank the general manager and her staff at Milford House Care Home, Salisbury for their truly professional care of our mother. Nothing is too much trouble and their attention to detail and empathy is second to none.
Chef ensured she had the food she liked which was very
important as we all thought she was passing away the weekend of the 6th March. She was very, very ill and I came over from Spain to be with her, my sister and I were made very welcome and were looked after as if we were in a 5* Hotel.
We were all prepared for the worst and then by a miracle she pulled through due to the excellent care of the nursing staff and carers, who guided her through the bad times and of course her loving family.
Mum is happy in her lovely room with TV, hairdresser saloon, spa and beautiful gardens.
We would highly recommend Milford House for its wide range of facilities and loving care and the experienced management team.

Reply from Aga Musial, Senior General Manager at Barchester Milford House Care Home

Thank you so much for your very kind words which I will pass on to the whole team as everything we do here at Milford is based on every member of the team doing their part. We are all delighted that mum is now improved and settling into life at Milford House, and we look forward to welcoming you all to the home whenever you are here visiting Mum. Kind regards Aga

Thank you so much for your wonderful review of our care for" Mum". I can honestly say that she was an absolute pleasure, the whole team loved her and she is greatly missed by us all, including other residents who she made friendships with, even to her surprise, I don't think she expected that but she really did live her best life after moving to Wilton Place, it wasn't home but as near as it could be. We also miss you all, please don't be strangers, tea and cake ready when you are!Wishing you all the very best- Antoinette

An amazing home from home. Staff are caring, professional and engaging whilst all have a cheerful disposition that benefits residents and visitors well being. I was a day visitor and had a lovley day with staff and residents. The interaction staff have with residents is family oriented making it
a very special place. The meal and service delivery excellent. I enjoyed the music afternoon where all participated in singing and some had a few dances! I would recommend.

The hospital organised my wife being sent to the Wingfield Care Home for palliative care. My wife was a resident at the Lodge for about 35 days until she died. We recently lost our mother at the care home. Nursing and care staff we found dignified and respectable at this time. The lack of respectfulness came from admin and management staff, we lost our mum on the Monday and was asked to clear her room the same day and when we cleared her room a few days later
we had a member of admin close the door in my brothers face as we was bringing her stuff out to our cars, she never offered to hold the door open. Management never showed any respect whilst we was doing this and the day mum passed we parked our car in her space and she blocked us in. We moved our car and she walked past us without saying a word, and received a phone call a few days later asking us to remove chairs that did not belong to us but to another equipment provider. We also placed complaints to the home and never even received an email back to say they would look into the matters, so we put safeguarding to them instead. We found them uncaring and disrespectful at the end of Mum's life.

Review of

Barchester Wingfield Care Home

from C S (Granddaughter of Resident) published on 31 January 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 1.0 out of 5

My grandmother was a resident in the nursing section since 2022. The care she received from a handful of carers and nurses was okay. There was a lack of basic care needs as well. She was bed bound and ended up with severe bedsores and moisture lesions that had not been brought to the attention of the
nurses until the family noticed and raised the concern. When medication was needed, they waited until the family would collect, leaving her without medication, and this happened numerous times. We had no support from management. Anytime we raised a concern, nothing was done. Complaints were put in and heard nothing back. When our grandmother did sadly passed away, the manager expected us to sort out the equipment that the home organised and refused to do this themselves and tried charging us for the room. There were no condolences from management when they saw us stood outside in tears, more worried about her parking space. Overall I would not recommend this home for your loved ones.

Following recent surgery, I spent 2 weeks respite care at Cepen Lodge. One of the best decisions I have made!
Arriving at the home I immediately felt part of a genuinely caring community. All the staff were wonderful, caring and professional. The accommodation was of a high standard, the food was
excellent and the activities for residents enjoyable and varied. I was sad to leave, and should I need respite or longer-term care in the future, I would choose Cepen Lodge without hesitation. Thank you to all the staff and residents for making my stay so enjoyable and life-affirming.

from R H (Respite Resident) published on 29 January 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5

Wilton Place certainly makes the most of a challenging site, on a slope with limited space for development. The exterior of the building presents clean, attractive lines with a pleasing combination of materials and colour scheme.
The interior decoration is interesting and eye-catching and the floor
plan on each level is well thought out with plenty of space on the landings and main connecting walkways. The rooms are comfortable and well-decorated with pleasant soft furnishings.
The staff are cheerful, friendly and in the main local people, which makes a great difference to ease of communication and interaction. The first impression on reception is helpful, polite and welcoming.
One could probably settle to a pleasant life at Wilton Place in one's declining years.

My mother went to Barchester Wilton Place Care Home for respite care in April 2023 and liked it so much she decided to move in permanently. She stayed there until autumn 2024 when she needed extra care. She really enjoyed all the activities and her room, she loved sitting on her patio outside and socialising
in the bistro. The staff were excellent, some visiting her on their own time while she was in hospital. It was such a special place for her that we mentioned her time there in her eulogy. Thank you to Wilton Place and their sister home for making her last years so special.
