Grove Court

from Matthew A (Resident) published on 10 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

I found myself bed bound after some difficulties after spinal surgery and was unable to cope at home.
After discussions it was agreed that they could help albeit an unusual situation as I was only 59 .
I was transported the next day on a spinal board via a private ambulance.
They handled all my
needs for the next ten days eating, medication ,personal hygiene, organised doctor and physiotherapist visits.
With a great deal of care I was able to start getting out of bed with assistance and over the next two weeks I was able to become more independent and after four weeks I walked out of there with the aid of a walking stick back home.
The care I received while I was there was of the highest standard , delivered with respect and a degree of humour which I needed.
I cannot speak highly enough of the care I received from all the people involved and my family and I will be forever grateful for the care I received and we couldn't have coped without them.

Grove Court

from Chris H (Friend of Resident) published on 8 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My close friend has been a resident at Grove Court for 9 months now. At age 96, the decision for her to enter residential care for the first time was a daunting prospect, as my friend is a very private person. Being encouraged to customise her room with personal items, wall mounted pictures and furniture
most certainly helped her settle. This extraordinary establishment, and I really mean that, did the rest to ease her into this new phase of her life. This doesn't happen by accident of course. I regularly witness, first hand, from all staff members, whatever their role, humanity, patience, tenderness, professionalism, and a devotion to duty directed towards my friend and all other residents. I rest easy knowing my friend is safe, secure, loved, expertly medically supervised, extremely well nourished and supported at Grove Court. The whole place has the relaxed informal feel of a village. Thank goodness we were recommended Grove Court. Thank you all for looking after my friend.

My mother has been living at Merlewood for nearly 18 years. The attention to her care has been excellent throughout.
The staff have always been very caring, and keep in contact with me over all issues relating to her care.
What is exceptional I find is that most of the staff have been working there
for many years, ensuring that a good relationship is built up with the residents.
I cannot recommend Merlewood more highly also thank you to the management.

Halliwell Care Home

from V H (Daughter of Resident) published on 3 April 2025

Halliwell is like a little oasis. The atmosphere is calm, friendly and welcoming. All the staff are approachable and nothing is too much trouble. The emphasis seems to be on providing the best experience possible for the residents, whilst recognising peoples individual needs. the rooms and public areas
are well decorated and maintained with a lot of thought put into seasonal decorations. There is a good range of daily activities for people living at Halliwell to take part in. The care and nursing staff are very knowledgeable and pro-active.

Halliwell Care Home

from Jon R (Son of Resident) published on 26 March 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

In January of this year, my mother had been at the Halliwell for five years. She went in as a resident a little before Covid and then through the Covid experience up to the present day. During all of that time the care she has received has been exemplary. She never misses an opportunity to say how much
she likes it there. As her son, that is the main metric for me.
During my mother's time there she has had a number of little medical episodes. These have all been handled very competently by the staff with good communication to me.
My personal experience is that all of the staff are extremely nice and kind to her. I eat there weekly and the food is good with nice choices.

My husband stayed at Merlewood for two weeks respire the carers and nurses could not have been kinder or more attentive. I felt confident he was being well looked after and that he was encouraged to take part in activities and get out (even in wheelchair) I have felt so content at home knowing he has
been looked after so well, the manager was so friendly and encouraging when she came for our assessment. A briliant caring home from home!

We visited my husband's Aunt for her 100 years birthday party yesterday. It was a lovely occasion decorations were up and plenty of seating available for chatting. The room was light and airy with a very pleasant conservatory addition where the food was served. The great grand children were enjoying
the activities in a separate room but popped in and out in a sociable way. A wonderful assortment of sandwiches, cake and desserts plus plentiful beverages. Overall we are so pleased that my husband's favourite Aunt is being so well looked after after a life of looking after others.

On arrival, you are met by friendly, helpful, smiling, and cooperative staff. I have met the full spectrum of staff from senior manager to hairdresser, nursing staff, carers, entertainers, gardeners, general maintenance, chefs, cooks, housekeepers, cleaners, the visiting GP and no doubt many more. All
of them have been excellent. It feels like a home/hotel set in beautiful grounds. The food is very tasty. The visiting physiotherapist has helped my mother's pain and shown great care. Thank you to all.

I had a lovely stay at Halliwell Care Home last summer to help recover from a small operation. I found the home to be welcoming, spotless, beautiful and uplifting despite my worries about my operation and my discomfort after. The care staff were very kind, careful and supportive - and especially reassuring
when I needed help at night. The gardens are gorgeous and can be accessed from every level - my grandsons loved finding the little stone animals. Lunch was always delicious. The evening meals were a little less inspired/more repetitive than lunch, but usually fresh and healthy and there was a good range of choice. There was a real community in the home, with many of the residents very active in making me feel welcome and driving the activities/care/food choices etc. There were a raft of things to get involved in - I only wish I'd had time do to more! My friends and family visited and were made very welcome and were impressed. I would certainly recommend Halliwell.

Grove Court

from David G (Resident) published on 20 February 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

I've been a resident at Grove Court for only six weeks but already I feel it's home. This is partly because I've been able to embellish my room with some furniture, books, and pictures from my old home. And partly because I can choose great three-course meals from a daily changing menu. But it's mainly
because of the comprehensive care provided by the dedicated staff. All of them - carers, nurses, admin, chefs, hostesses, handymen, gardeners - work together as a team to provide the best possible service to the residents. More than that, they engage with residents in a friendly manner that makes us all feel part of the same flourishing community. That's a great achievement by imaginative and devoted managers.

Grove Court has proved to be a wonderful home for my father. It's really hard to move from your own place with all your things around you, to a place full of strangers and unfamiliar systems. Everyone, and I mean everyone, at Grove Court has been welcoming, kind, attentive to my dad's needs, warm and

I must say how impressed I continue to be with the standards of personal and medical care my wife receives at Grove Court. I would also like to thank the general manager and all the support staff for the assistance they have given to both of us. This month the kitchen staff deserve a special mention
for having provided pureed food for my wife, they have shown a genuine interest in helping to find the type of meals that she enjoys. Although at present she remains reliant on a fifteen-hour liquid feed each day, this is the first step in the long task of getting her back to eating solid food again.

My mother moved into Rush Court nearly a year ago. This follows an earlier period of respite care at Rush Court prior to a hip operation. When living at home became too difficult for Mum, she was in no doubt that she wanted to return to Rush Court. She was warmly welcomed back and my sisters and I were
immediately reassured and relieved that Mum was back in the best possible place.
Until a recent period of ill health, Mum has enjoyed the facilities, activities, and beautiful rural location of Rush Court. She loves the garden and enjoys walking in it on a daily basis. The staff and management are all caring and highly professional; they always 'go the extra mile' to be helpful and supportive to me and other family members, especially during Mum's current period of ill health.
Rush Court is a welcoming place that feels like home. It is always a pleasure to visit, noting that its peaceful out-of-town location might be a little inconvenient for visitors who are reliant on public transport.
