Having damaged my right elbow, I spent 12 days in respite (my fourth respite in The Cotswold Home). A huge welcome from all the staff! As always, meticulous care and attention gave me the care I needed at that time. A very happy and comfortable stay. Staff really worked as a team. A home from home.

Rush Court

from M S (Son of Resident) published on 5 February 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My mother moved into Rush Court nearly a year ago. This follows an earlier period of respite care at Rush Court prior to a hip operation. When living at home became too difficult for Mum, she was in no doubt that she wanted to return to Rush Court. She was warmly welcomed back and my sisters and I were
immediately reassured and relieved that Mum was back in the best possible place.
Until a recent period of ill health, Mum has enjoyed the facilities, activities, and beautiful rural location of Rush Court. She loves the garden and enjoys walking in it on a daily basis. The staff and management are all caring and highly professional; they always 'go the extra mile' to be helpful and supportive to me and other family members, especially during Mum's current period of ill health.
Rush Court is a welcoming place that feels like home. It is always a pleasure to visit, noting that its peaceful out-of-town location might be a little inconvenient for visitors who are reliant on public transport.

Rush Court

from Caroline B (Daughter of Resident) published on 16 January 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My mother spent two happy years in the Nursing wing at Rush Court having broken her kneecap after a fall at home and was therefore unable to continue living independently. Initially, she missed her independence but with a combination of outstanding physio and her own determination she was able to walk
again, and with the encouragement and kindness of all the staff she was able to resume her busy life within the home. She loved all the activities (even though by her own admission she was "no good" at some of them) and went on all the available outings until she became too frail.
She died just before Christmas after a brief illness just short of her 98th birthday, having been nursed devotedly by the staff until the end. So much so that I found a note by her bedside written about two days before she died in a very wobbly hand, saying "I want to thank all the nurses and carers who were help to me - it has been a happy time. Love to you all"
Grateful thanks from all our family...

Thank you for this wonderful review of Rush Court and our wonderful team, who had the privilege of caring for your mother, and getting to know the extended family. Your Mother will be missed sorely by the team but remembered fondly. The handwritten left by your Mum and found by you after she passed away, is one of the greatest testimonials we could receive.

Few of us want to have to make the decision to move a parent into a care home but when their safety requires this, it is very comforting to know that your parent is living in a lovely environment where all the staff care about the residents and really build a relationship with them. It is natural that
residents' health will change over time, sometimes quite suddenly; we have found the staff at Rush Court very supportive through this next stage of a somewhat challenging journey.
A very good variety of activities are arranged. There is also a good selection of culinary options.
I am very grateful for the care (in the real sense of that word) which is provided.

Reply from Clifford Hutchings, General Manager at Rush Court

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with this review and feedback. We are pleased that you when you had to make the decision along with your mum, that it was time to move into long-term care, that you chose Rush Court/our team to care for her. It is good to hear that you have found the flexibility of the team to adapt to the changing healthcare needs of your mum to be so responsive. I will of course share this feedback with the wider team including non-clinical colleagues.

My mother-in-law has lived at Rush Court (in the nursing wing) for just over 2 years now. The staff are all wonderful and show so much care and affection for all the residents. This includes not only the nursing and care staff but all those who work there including management, catering, and maintenance
teams. The activities team are wonderful and comes up with many varied and wonderful activities for the residents, most of which are provided in the home, but some of which involve trips out. Thank you!

I have just moved my Mum into Rush Court, only a few days prior to Christmas. The staff have all been lovely and it already feels like Mum has been there for longer than she has. The room is very nice and clean. There has been quick care and nursing care for Mum whenever needed. So far, I have been
pleased we chose Rush Court for Mum and she seems content.

Rush Court is a wonderful care home in every way. The building is very well maintained. The staff are happy which is so important in creating a relaxed atmosphere for those living there. The care is excellent, very attentive and conscientious and, very importantly, they are very patient. The residents'
dining room is laid out as a restaurant with good and varied food menus, and if sometimes one prefers something else this is provided. The social events are plentiful with some outdoor visits for those able to take part.

I rate the home and the staff very highly. They are helpful, attentive, and very caring. The accommodation is first class and so is the food. And they go to great lengths to put on things to entertain the residents every day. They are also very courteous to family members and great at remembering who
we are by name. I can highly recommend the home. I suppose the only slight downside is the price but that seems to be fairly in line with other similar homes.

My Dad has been a resident at Rush Court since December 2022. The care overall has been very good even though the turnover of staff, in general, has been slightly higher than one would like. The variety of meals are a good standard and very nutritious. The lead activity coordinator is exceptional and
tries to encourage my Dad to participate in activities. The bedrooms are also cleaned to a high standard. The Management team are also very professional and listens to any minor concerns which are always rectified promptly and efficiently.

Reply from Clifford Hutchings, General Manager at Rush Court

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with feedback on your dad's care and overall experience of Rush Court, this is helpful in helping us continually improve our offering. I cannot speak too highly of the staff at Ruch Court: They are careful, conscientious, and patient with all residents and with those whose stays in the Nursing Wing may be shorter.
There is excellent liaison between management and staff, and relatives are encouraged to speak to staff whenever they
feel they need to. The rooms are clean and thoughtfully individualised, and food is well prepared, appetising and carefully modified according to individual care requirements. Activities are inclusive, varied, and interesting. A true gem!

My mother has been at Rush Court for 18 months. She is very content there and appreciative of the care she receives from many of the kind and thoughtful carers and staff. Although she has a small room, she loves the views over the fields from her window. She also much enjoys the beautiful garden and
especially the floral display at the entrance. She enjoys the meals which are wide-ranging and adaptable. She finds all the staff to be exceptionally helpful and courteous. As a family, we are most grateful for the care that she is receiving in this beautiful home. Thank you!

My aunt was given a very high standard of care during her time at Rush Court. The staff gave her excellent care and were friendly and patient. The food was of a very high quality. This is so important for residents/patients. She was very ill however was made as comfortable and welcome as possible. Overall
a better experience than I was expecting. I hope I receive the same care and environment when/if necessary.

Rush Court

from Nigel H (Husband of Resident) published on 23 July 2024
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5

This was my wife's 3rd short respite stay at Rush Court. Lovely setting, good amenities, nice room, caring staff and good food. However, the home feels under-managed with disorganised discharge, missing items (subsequently located) and an apparent lack of effective procedures. Laundry return is very
haphazard and my wife has returned with items that do not belong to her. The management team seem rather office-bound and would be more effective if their presence was more obvious and with a higher profile.

Reply from Clifford Hutchings, General Manager at Rush Court

Thank you for your feedback, which we always welcome, to help us continually improve. I am sorry that your wife's discharge from us was not handled effectively & appeared disorganised, with some items missing. I am pleased to hear, however, that these were subsequently located. I will share you feedback with the team at our daily meeting, which is attended by the UM/RGN 's who are responsible for managing admissions/discharges procedures and ensuring these are seamless. Your feedback is appreciated and will help us to learn/improve.

My mother lived in Rush Court from April 2022 until her death in May 2024. Rush Court was the only care home that she wanted to go to when she became unable to manage at her home. She very much enjoyed her time at Rush Court. She got on well with other residents and loved the rural setting and beautiful
garden. The end-of-life nursing staff were excellent and made her final days as peaceful and dignified as nature allowed.

Thank you for taking the time to provide this review. The staff team and residents will remember your mother fondly, and appreciate how much she enjoyed the setting and gardens. Mum has had a great month at The Cotswold Home - she has been helping plant flowers in the various recycled objects for the 'potted perfection' display, including handbags and wellington boots! She really enjoyed this and the display is amazing! The home also has a partridge and some chicks who have
taken up residence in the garden so that has been lovely to see. Mum really enjoys living at the home and the staff are so kind and helpful - it was a big wrench to leave her home but she couldn't be in a better place.

My husband had a wonderful respite week. He enjoyed all aspects of the home. Comfortable, very friendly staff. Clean and tidy bedroom as the rest of the home was and pretty gardens easy to access in a wheelchair. Spent some time in the craft room. Completed a picture for the grandchildren. Most days
he enjoyed three courses of lovely food from the extremely tasty menu. All fresh meat, vegetables and fruit all prepared and cooked on-site. Absolutely worth it.
