I wanted to extend my deepest gratitude for the care and attention you provided to my wife during her time with you. Your dedication, compassion and professionalism have made a significant difference in her well-being and comfort. My wife has spoken highly of the warmth and kindness she experienced
from each member of your team. You all go above and beyond to create a nurturing and supportive environment for those in your care. Thank you once again for your outstanding service for making her stay positive and enriching.

I do not, however, like your company's draconian charging system were unavoidable absence is charge at almost full rate!

The whole process of getting mum into a suitable home for respite, used as a transition from hospital back to her home, has been a pleasant experience. From the initial assessment in hospital to the discharge back to mum's home. The whole team have been responsive and shown care and compassion.
Fun
and respectful. Thanks.

As a family, we are immensely grateful for everything the staff at Bradbury Court did for our mum and how they cared for her with such dignity and love. The staff went over and above for mum and treated everyone in my family as part of 'their family'. Nothing was ever too much and the care they gave
her was outstanding. Thank you to every member of staff at that amazing place - a 'home' for my mum in her last year

Bradbury Court has given outstanding care to my late stepmum for the last 6 years. She had such a lovely, homely and spacious room with all her own things and beautiful views. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and I found it a very relaxed place to be. I was welcome to visit anytime without
needing to make an appointment. My mum felt much loved and enjoyed helping the staff, she was very happy there and I always felt reassured that she was in excellent hands. In my experience with previous care homes, I consider it is far greater in comparison and I highly recommend Bradbury Court.

The care provided to my aunt over the 8 years she was a resident was superb. She had a wonderful room where she was very comfortable. Although she was a very private person she was so happy with the attention shown to her by all the staff. If I need to go into care in the years ahead I won't hesitate
to move into Davenham.

My mother attended Friends of the Elderly Malvern Day Care for about a year when she was still living in her own home and continued to attend after her dementia reached the stage that she needed to move to the full-time dementia care unit at Friends of the Elderly Malvern. Going to the Lodge was the
highlight of Mum's week, and it was really helpful in providing a bridge between home and full-time care.

Thank you to all the staff at Devanham's for their care. Our time with Devanham's was short, so our experience was limited. The facilities looked well-kept. Visiting was easy and without prior notice. A particular thanks to Devanham's unit manager who was especially kind and communicative during the
difficult last days.

My mum was a resident of Perrins House from December 2021 until she passed in May 2024. In the time she was at Perrins, my mum received excellent care throughout. Mum's room was lovely, overlooking the garden which she enjoyed so much. The staff were always friendly and helpful and kept the environment
clean, tidy and calm. Mum especially liked the wide range of activities on offer, particularly the singers who would regularly come and sing music from her era. Mum also loved the garden club and the staff were very helpful in enabling mum to attend her granddaughter's wedding which was wonderful.

"Dementia" - the loneliest, unsupported disease overlooked by an allegedly civilised country.
We found F of the Elderly at Kidderminster 12 months ago. Our taster session - sufferer walked in and immediately even with severe mixed Alzheimer's settled in. Without a doubt I was comfortable he'd found
his second home.
He was happy and I was not least relieved to find respite. We have never looked back and happy in the knowledge he is safe, fed, watered and looks forward to his visit.

My husband had been in the hospital for three months with delirium following a fall. A nurse accompanied him to Perrnins House, and they made sure his room was redecorated with a new floor. The room also had a wonderful view of the magnificent garden. Lunch is served in a dining room, and he is collected
in a wheelchair. Guests are also welcome to join him for lunch at a small charge. There are excellent activities for residents, every weekday. All the staff, nurses and helpers are first class, have enormous patience and are very loving and fun. I could not recommend it more.

from M C (Daughter of Resident) published on 27 February 2024

The Davenham and its grounds are beautiful. There are lovely communal rooms and plenty of places to sit and chat. There are many kind staff that our relative has become close to and in whom we have confidence. However, in the few years they have been there, amongst the good things, there have been shortcomings.
The five stars given reflect very much the current situation as a new manager has taken over who is dynamic, approachable and knowledgeable with very high standards. She has quickly identified a number of the issues of concern and already made some very positive and encouraging changes with many more improvements on the horizon. We feel confident that The Davenham and its residents are in safe hands and that the home will go from strength to strength.

Reply from Maricel Biringquez, Unit Manager - Davenham at Friends of the Elderly Malvern (Bradbury Court, Davenham and Perrins House)

Thank you so much for taking the time to write this lovely review. We are pleased that you have noticed the positive changes at Davenham. Our general manager and Davenham team will continue to do our best to deliver the best care possible that the residents deserve.
It is a pleasure looking after your mother and being able to build a great relationship with her.

Review of

Friends of the Elderly Malvern (Bradbury Court, Davenham and Perrins House)

from Fiona P (Sister of Resident) published on 6 February 2024
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5

Day-to-day care in Friends of the Elderly Malvern (Bradbury Court, Davenham and Perrins House) - very good - staff clearly felt a lot of sympathy for my sister and were very fond of her. We had no problem with the staff who appeared always to be concerned about her welfare. My last visit revealed an
accessible coffee lounge downstairs hitherto never mentioned. Another space to see our sister away from other people would have been welcome.
A more complex situation was that no POA for our sister's health affairs existed, restricting our entitlement to information about her health situation. Initially told her health problems, this changed as time progressed. No information about her physical health or care plan was forthcoming. (We were told by Social Services that the Care Plan was not up-to-date). This was a change from the beginning of her stay. None of the family were allowed any information.
Finally, another sister demanded information and refused to accept a negative reply based on the absence of a health and welfare POA on purely humanitarian grounds. Too late, as she then entered hospital for the last time.
I have two questions to be addressed - not with a simple answer but informing any similar future situation concerning other patients in your care.
1) I understand that the law with regard to POA needs to be obeyed but in fact, no one outside the care home was being informed about her health care apart from her new GP. How is that acceptable?
2) Why did the approach change during her stay at Bradbury?
I am aware of ongoing management problems but it appears that staff were not given clear guidelines on dealing with families nor walking a line between acknowledgement of family ties and obeying the letter of the law in terms of POAs.

Reply from Jessica Dean, Head of Marketing and Communications at Friends of the Elderly Malvern (Bradbury Court, Davenham and Perrins House)

Many thanks for taking the time to review Friends of the Elderly Malvern. We pride ourselves on providing excellent care at Friends of the Elderly and I was concerned to read your review. I understand that the care team worked with yourself and other members of your sister’s family, including her husband, and I would be keen to discuss your concerns with you in more detail. Would it be possible to contact me at comms@fote.org.uk with your details so that I can look into this further? Kind regards
