Staff all seem very friendly.
Majority of the carers my father has warmed too which is good.
Food quality seems good
Kept clean
Activities for residents to do
Paperwork side of things has been a bit gung ho but there has been high levels of staff sickness and leave

My mother was discharged from hospital following a lengthy 14 week period during which time my beloved father passed away. Mum was too ill to go to the funeral. The decision to move mum into care could not be avoided. Thankfully we chose Devonshire Court and mum's health is now improving considerably
thanks to the care being received. We no longer have to work a rota where we have to visit mum every single day like in the hospital because we know she is being well looked after. The whole family have gone through an unprecedented difficult time over the last five months, but we know our mum is being looked after in the best way possible.

My mum has been living at Shannon Court for six years now. The care staff treat her like a member of their own family, with such kindness and respect. Mum is in the late stages of dementia and it is important to me that her beliefs and wishes are still respected, I can truly say, all the staff endeavour
to achieve this. It is testament to the care she is receiving, by seeing how content and happy she is. Thank you all.

Reply from Steve Stace, Business Manager at Shannon Court

Thank you for your kind words, It is a pleasure to look after Mum for the 6 years she has been here, and to see her happy and so settled at the home makes the work we do at the home so rewarding, thank you for trusting us with your loved one.

My parents have resided in other care homes in Suffolk. When we moved mum to Prince Michael of Kent care home after Dad died we were naturally apprehensive but there was no need. It is an excellent facility with excellent, caring, thoughtful staff from the manager, the team leaders, the staff, the kitchen,
right through to front of house. She could not have been in a better setting. She was content to the end. I cannot thank all of them enough for being there for her in her last months alone without Dad.

My Mum has been at Scarbrough Court for 7 months now and I feel very grateful that she has a place there. My mum went from being an active, independent lady to needing full time nursing care after a significant stroke. During the last few difficult months the Scarbrough court care staff, nurses and
management have all been so kind and supportive. Mum receives excellent care in a clean and pleasant environment. The food seems to be very good and the kitchen staff are accommodating of mum's complex dietary needs. There are also regular enrichment activities organised, which makes for a friendly and inclusive atmosphere.

A very impressive first stay in this care home. The staff were very attentive and made me feel both cared for and secure. The advantage of also providing a weeks Respite for my wife, who acts more as my daily carer, also added to my peace of mind. I will be seriously considering further short respite
break to provide a relief to my wife and daughters who otherwise are anxious for my fitness.

My mam went into Scarborough court following a long stint in hospital 5 years ago. It was a very difficult time as it was right before covid lockdown. The staff helped her settle in and stepped in where I wasn't able to. They kept me up to date with everything and still continue to do so. She's on
nursing and has lots going on medically but she's so well cared for the nursing team are always on the ball. She has her favourite carers who always manage to put a smile on her face when she's feeling upset or agitated. But all the team are so nice and caring I don't worry at all about her as I'm updated or informed when I need to be. The home itself is lovely..rooms are bright and big..nice grounds.. always something going on. Wouldn't have wanted mam anywhere else.
Thankyou team..you are appreciated.

This residential home is the best I have come across. It is welcoming and treated my dear friend with dignity and patience. They are flexible in approach and want nothing more than to give the best possible care. My friend was frail and needing a great deal of 'TLC'; this was given in abundance, nothing
was too much trouble. Caring staff are kind and pleasant, giving and showing utmost respect to such an elderly lady. Management staff ar of the highest calibre. Superb listening skills and showed genuine sympathy for our difficulties. They also acted positively in this respect, offering a much needed placement. The empathy and support was also exemplary. This is a family of caring, efficient, high quality individuals. It says something when employees choose to place their relatives here.

My father needed to move care home as his old home could no longer cope with his needs. After visiting several other care homes Prince Michael of Kent was our first choice for him.
The home has great facilities (it was refreshing when we first walked in when compared to other homes). We have also found
the staff to be friendly and supportive.
The most important aspect of Dad's care is his mental well being. The staff have worked hard to help Dad settle in and have been proactive in helping to manage his dementia. I very much feel that this is a care home that works hard as a supporting advocate for residents when dealing with third parties. We are very grateful for this support.
I would highly recommend the Home.

My mother has been in Prince Michael of Kent Court for several years now. The facilities are lovely, the activities every day are varied and interesting. The property is absolutely stunning and the care is second to none. The staff are loving and caring and go above and beyond to make my mother comfortable.

Review of

Prince Edward Duke of Kent Court

from John W (Respite Resident) published on 3 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5

Staff were very good and very patient. Overall, my stay was satisfactory with supportive staff. The room was adequate but the bed was very uncomfortable. Having been told to press the buzzer if I wanted or needed anything, it sometimes took over half an hour for a response and on occasion not at all.
It was very frustrating and annoying at not having my clothing returned to me from the laundry and sometimes being given other residents' clothing. I left the home with some of my clothing not returned to me. I was particularly upset at the loss of my drinking glass which I and my daughters asked about on several occasions. It was a birthday gift to me on my 90th birthday. The food was inadequate. It was poor quality and seemed to be at the cheaper end of the scale. The building and its grounds were beautiful and I thoroughly enjoyed watching the wildlife from the window.

Thank you for your review. I apologise if we got some things wrong, I will ensure that staff answer calls as soon as they are able to. We have today posted missing laundry direct to you. We look forward to hopefully seeing you in the future.
