Mum moved into Mount Ephraim House in April 2024, initially for some respite care. At that point, she was living on her own and struggling to cope without full support around her for daily living. The stay with the team at Mount Ephraim was life-changing, and after having such a lovely break for 3 weeks,
asked if she could stay! Luckily they still had a room available and Mum has settled incredibly well. It is lovely to see how happy she now is. With their care and love, she has improved dramatically in terms of her physical and mental ability with all the wonderful fitness groups, clubs and entertainment that the teams organise on a daily basis. Most importantly, Mum has built a wonderful group of friends amongst both residents and staff. Everyone is incredibly friendly, warm, understanding and supportive and all work so hard to ensure the best home-from-home experience for the residents. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Mount Ephraim House.

My partner came to the care home in August these comments are my impressions of views to now a wonderful building overlooking the common, with lovely inside rooms, especially the dining room and lounge and staircase in the old building. Meals to a high standard. Activities every day, I feel as if regular
visitors have been very welcome by the manager and her staff.
Good carers, some with interesting backgrounds. I am now 91, quite fit and am still driving. Should I need a care home, this one would be my choice.

Dad moved into Mount Ephraim House in July 2023 in the second week of them opening after the huge refurb. All the staff have been absolutely amazing with not only Dad but also us as a whole family, especially Mum who has missed Dad terribly. It has taken Dad a long time to settle because of his Alzheimers
but now refers to Mount Ephraim House as 'home' and it gives us great comfort to witness the amount of hugs and adoration he receives.
We are now having to come to terms that after a major life-changing medical situation with Mum, she can no longer live independently and our hope is that she too will be able to move to Mount Ephraim House - we have absolutely no hesitation in making this our first and only choice at this stage.

Reply from Karen Cooper, Registered Manager at Mount Ephraim House

Thank you so much for your kind words. We are hoping that we will be able to accommodate as well so that they can still be together.

The manager agreed to take my mother-in-law for emergency respite at very short notice was the best decision we made. My mother-in-law has been very well looked after. The team are caring and attentive to all of my mother-in-law's needs. The family have said that Mum has never looked so well. We are
extremely thankful to the team for the care and support they provide for Mum and the family.

The home arranged for my elderly mother to visit her elder sister in another care home; arranging transport and day care. They hadn't been able to see each other for several years and without the care and support of Lavender Fields this would not have been possible.
My mum has settled into Lavender
Fields very easily and the care provided is exceptional. The staff are always available to assist residents and to help relatives with queries and understanding of the care system.
It is a beautiful care home, with a range of activities and caring staff.
I would highly recommend it.

We recently had to say goodbye to our lovely mum, shortly before her 103rd birthday, after five years and eight months living in Lavender Fields. Having had a stroke at 97 and the subsequent sale of her beloved house, Mum was really not happy to find herself at Lavender Fields. However, nothing was
too much in order to make Mum feel at home, in her own lovely room, with her own possessions. She gradually adjusted, enjoying the companionship, meals, activities, hairdresser, manicure, FaceTime on her tablet and her visitors. We found the occasional management/relatives meetings to be very useful. The new management is a positive improvement. There are too many wonderful carers to mention individually, save to say that Mum's care, particularly in the latter months was exceptional. Mum was very closely monitored in those last few weeks, and treated with loving care, dignity, compassion and understanding. We are so grateful and we thank you all. We made the right choice with Lavender Fields.

Reply from Femi Shoyombo, General Manager at Lavender Fields

Mount Ephraim House has been outstanding. The staff are always utterly charming, patient and welcoming. Nothing ever seems to be too much bother, and everyone has a friendly smile. It has been enormously reassuring for us to know that Mum is in such kind, safe and professional hands. I have no reservations
at all in recommending Mour Ephraim House 100%.

My mother was anxious on arrival at Mount Ephraim House, but the cheerful and welcoming attitudes of all the staff made the process much easier. As visitors to my mother, we were also made extremely welcome. The whole experience has made it a lot easier for myself than it otherwise would have been.

My Mother lived in Lavender Fields for the last 8 months of her life. Once settled she never complained of care, comfort, and those looking after her. She left her home at age 103, I could no longer except she was safe there. I never had any regrets introducing her to Lavender Fields the whole setup.
She did not make life easy for the staff at first naturally she ended up loving them all. I have nothing but thanks and the dignity she was shown when she peacefully went to sleep in her chair was a credit to all involved. Thank you all.

Since Covid I feel that the opportunities for trips out (even short walks) have disappeared. The food on offer every day can be good to very poor, consistency is needed here as with good ingredients recipes can be easily made to be tasty and appetising. The lack of permanent staff and a manager is unsettling
and use of agency staff does not allow residents to build relationships.

Reply from Devon Baker, Divisional Support Manager at Lavender Fields

Thank you for your review, we are sorry that aspects of the service we provide are not meeting your expectations. We are very actively recruiting for care staff and for the role of General Manager, and at all times we have had an experienced manager at an appropriately senior level overseeing the home. We were recently joined by our new Activities Coordinator, and offering our residents more opportunities to go out for trips is a top priority. Our Support Services Manager is working closely with the Activities and Catering teams, along with support from homes and head office staff, to develop these hugely important aspects of our service which have so much impact on residents' quality of life.

My mother and father have been residents in January of 2024 for respite care. The team at Mount Ephraim have taken amazing care of my parents. The care staff, who have looked after them on a day-to-day basis, have been truly exceptional in making them feel safe and respected.

Dad has been at Mount Ephraim House for a few months. He arrived subdued and with limited mobility and communication. He has come on enormously over the last few weeks and is now walking more independently and talking to let his needs be known and to comment on what is going on. We are delighted and
put this down to the care being offered in the newly renovated home. The bedroom, en-suite shower room, corridor, dining room and sitting room where Dad spends the majority of his time are all pleasant spaces that are easy for him to negotiate without feeling 'medical' in any way. They wouldn't be out of place in a very nice hotel. The staff have become familiar friendly faces to him and to me. They take great care to explain what is going on to Dad and make sure that he is looking and feeling fresh and is involved in activities. He is happy and settled at Mount Ephraim House and I have no hesitation in recommending it.

Mum has been at Mount Ephraim since early November and we could not be more thrilled with the place, the people, the atmosphere, the food - everything. Most importantly, Mum is very happy and is clearly enjoying being amongst all the wonderful people there. She arrived pretty much bed-bound after 4
months recovery from a hospital visit. The manager and her team now have Mum out of bed and moving - such a big step.
Mum continually tells me that everyone is so friendly and helpful and she feels properly at home. As her children, we couldn't be more appreciative and delighted. Thank you.

My mother has lived at Gloucester House for nearly two years. It is now home to her, and the wonderful staff are welcoming and feel like family. I feel 100% confident that Mum is very well looked after. Owing to dementia, Mum has declined mentally and physically in the past two years, but she is living
the best life possible. She eats and drinks well and appears well and happy. I feel incredibly grateful to everyone at Gloucester House who contributed to Mum's well-being. Thank you!

My father has been at Gloucester House for a few weeks and I could not have asked for him to be anywhere better. This home has a lovely warm atmosphere, he is very well cared for and every member of staff I've come across is so friendly, including the manager. He has been placed here after a prolonged
hospital stay after failed re-hab attempts and also short stays in two other nursing homes, Gloucester House is by far the best in comparison.

I'm a resident at Gloucester House, having been placed here after several months in hospital in order to recuperate from pressure sores. I am very impressed with the level of care here and the friendliness of all staff members. After having been placed in re-hab centres and a couple of other homes prior

The team here are wonderful, the manager sets a high example of empathy and kindness. It can be very difficult sometimes when we have to rely on agency staff who can make life difficult for the regular staff and residents. I realise this is inevitable. It is a very well-run home where they do the best
they can to make it as happy as possible in what for many of us is a radical change of lifestyle.
