Review of

Eastry House

from Kenneth P (Brother of Resident) published on 27 December 2021
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5

My brother started to live in Eastry House in 2019 due to the closure of his previous accommodation. I have always found the home to be excellent in his care and he is certainly happy and contented living there. The management and staff are always available to answer any questions I may have regarding
his health or welfare. He has recently been unwell and during this period I have been given daily updates when I cannot visit. The residents have a varied selection of entertainment and are seeming to be happy whenever I visit. During the pandemic, I have found the staff to be of the utmost professional standards. Whilst the house is not to the latest design, this has never prevented my brother's needs from being accommodated.
The CQC ask the following 5 questions of any care home;- is it safe, is it effective, is it caring, is it responsive to people's needs, and is it well-led? It is my opinion that Eastry House answers all of those questions in the positive to the highest possible standards.

Review of

Seahaven

from Robert S (Father of Resident) published on 9 November 2021
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

Our son has now been in care for over 40-years - eleven of those have been with Seahaven/Kingsdown Lodge.
As we all know, the last two years (Covid) have been very very difficult, especially for care homes and the carers that work in them.
We cannot praise Seahaven and all the staff enough; our son
was used to coming home every two weeks - he went fifteen weeks last summer without seeing his family, as did most of the other clients. All daily/weekly activities were cancelled, how they coped is way beyond us as parents; you only need to be a regular visitor to see all the different behaviours and disabilities that they would have had to deal with.
So we can only thank all care homes and all the carers that work in them just the same as the NHS, and as you will see below, we feel Seahaven deserves top marks all the way and nothing but top marks.

Review of

Eastry House

from Carrie S (Sister of Resident) published on 27 April 2021
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

In August 2019, my sister had to transfer to a different home due to the closure of her home. Eastry House took her in and quickly accommodated her needs. I did initially have concerns but within a short time and under the guidance and leadership of the home became proactive and many more plans and
activities were initiated. Prior to Covid-19, we visited my sister on a regular basis and since the pandemic, we have been able to speak with her via video call and more recently, been able to visit. I have been both impressed and very grateful at the way they have cared for my sister and the other residents, looking after them both physically and psychologically and am pleased to hear there are plans to decorate the home. As a registered nurse working as a Community Staff Nurse, I am able to recognise the practices of good care at Eastry House and am very grateful to the care they give me sister. She is very happy and content.

Review of

Eastry House

from Victoria S (Niece of Resident) published on 27 April 2021
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

Since my auntie first moved into Eastry House in August 2019 there has been such a big improvement in all aspects of the home. The manager has improved the facilities and standard of care so much since taking over. All the residents seem extremely content and happy whenever I visit. The staff knows
each and every resident so well and will always put a smile on their faces. My auntie has previously seemed reserved and quiet but since being at Eastry, her confidence has really grown and she is clearly very relaxed and happy in her environment. As a family, we have a lot of involvement in my auntie's life and Eastry House has always been accommodating to this. Since the Covid-19 pandemic began, the staff have worked tirelessly to provide extra activities and stimulation while all the residents have been in isolation. We were given the opportunity regularly to speak to our relative via video call which has been amazing. I am extremely grateful to the home for looking after my auntie.

Bon Secours

from Anne A (Mother of Resident) published on 2 September 2020
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My son has now resided at Bon Secours for 10 years. His carers are wonderful as they make every effort to understand his needs and to ensure that he is happy. His week is filled with activities that he enjoys which include a work placement. During the recent lock-down one of his carers thoughtfully
set up video calls so that he could still see his family. Bon Secours is very homely and comfortable, and is always clean and tidy. I am able to attend his care plan reviews and I am kept informed of any changes that have occurred. Independence is encouraged but safety and security are paramount. I would recommend this company to anyone looking for a placement for an adult with a learning disability.

Eastry House

I am very pleased with the care given to my sister, she is happy and secure. The staff always make me feel welcome and answer any questions or enquiries I have regarding my sister, on my weekly visits.

I would like to take this opportunity to express my disappointment at not being informed of the

closure of the day centre and how the residents who regularly used the facility, would be compensated. I am disgusted that the authority have made the decision to cut what is, or was a valuable resource of entertainment to the residents daily existence, showing a distinct lack of interest in their well-being.

Eastry House

from Rita P (Daughter of Resident) published on 29 July 2016
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

The home at Eastry House is brilliant, staff and the way we are treated. When we come to see mum lots is always being done, my only concern is that my mum has been upset about the day centre closing, it has affected her quite deeply and I am hoping that she is getting the right support to help her get
over it. Also the home feels like it is short staffed as well, this is my personal opinion. I feel that since Optima Care has taken over, it's not as carefully run as it was before, also they have had their 4 day holiday taken away as well.

We are satisfied with my relative's care at Eastry House, as when we visit, which is usually once a month or every two or three months, we don't give them notice we just turn up and find that he is well cared for.

Our brother has been in care for a number of years yet we believe that, at this moment, he is as happy and contented as he has ever been. He enjoys a full and active life and enjoys good friendships with the staff.

My sister is very happy in Eastry House. The last time I saw her she said "I've got my own room and I like living in Eastry House."
