My wife has been a resident at the Royal Star & Garter since August 2023. She suffered a serious fall in June 2022 and entered into care but I moved her to the present care home where she is receiving first-class care and stimulation.

Our family cannot thank the wonderful team at the Royal Star & Garter enough for the quality of care my father received during his 10 months there. He was admitted from hospital in January 2024 as had become immobile and needed nursing care. He really enjoyed the extremely comfortable, homely and clean
environment, the range of activities and above all the care and dedication he received from the staff.
Dad received 6 days end of life care in October. He and our family received outstanding care during what was a extremely emotional and difficult time. He was treated with such dignity and love - we really couldn't have asked for more. Also for our family who stayed with him for 24 hours a day - nothing was too much trouble to make us feel comfortable too. Thank you so much - you have a tremendous team of dedicated and professional staff.
My mother is also now at the Royal Star & Garter as she has dementia. We feel this is the only home we would have wanted her to stay in.

Reply from Helena Maher, Home manager at Royal Star & Garter - Surbiton

Thank you for your kind words. It was a pleasure to have Dad living with us.

My sister and I are very pleased with the amazing service provided by Royal, Star & Garter, High Wycombe in caring for our elderly mother, who suffers from dementia and serious mobility issues. The staff have gone out of their way to keep her safe, comfortable, and happy since the day she moved in,
almost a year ago. Her health and well-being have improved and she is now fully settled in. She is very fond of the caring staff, loves the food, and enjoys the garden. The staff tries very hard to accommodate us, whatever our requests and the fact that Mum is safe and happy at RSG gives us great peace of mind. I would highly recommend RSG to anyone considering permanent care for an elderly relative.

Two members of staff, in particular, are absolutely marvellous supporting my mum with day care. My mother thoroughly enjoys the activities and chatting with other service users. Mum enjoys all the activities; painting, movement to music, and cards and she loves the day trips.

My Husband attends Dementia Day Care weekly and we also attend bi-weekly Lunch Club together.
The attention to care for both these events is excellent and could not be better. The staff are enthusiastic, caring and helpful. At both these events the food is nutritious, options are also given, and portion
size is perfect.
I think every detail is taken into consideration.
Have only good things to say about Royal Star and Garter.

My father moved into Royal Star and Garter in High Wycombe six weeks ago and has settled in amazingly well. He was very hesitant about leaving his own home but loved his room overlooking the garden. His room is very spacious, absolutely spotless, and very comfortable. The staff are so friendly, kind
and helpful and nothing is too much trouble. I have joined Dad for lunch and it really is like fine dining. I would like to send my very grateful thanks to everyone, staff, and volunteers who make this home exceptional and of a very high standard.

My Mother moved into RS&G Solihull in early 2024, during her time here I have been delighted with the care she has received. I have observed the kindness and commitment of the various staff members who have looked after her; They know and treat her as a valuable individual, they all know what she needs
and deal with her cheerfully and professionally. She does physio, exercises, and movement to music classes, so gets stimulation and support. The food is very good, the room ad corridors are very clean. The home is expensive, but management was able to apply for and obtain available government support. Overall I could not be happier.

What an amazing place. Beautiful surroundings and a five-star appeal. Rooms are clean, nicely fragrant and have everything needed. My mum is settling in which is always difficult for anyone, especially after living in their own house for 50 years. The peace of mind I have as a relative is fantastic.
Great staff with a lovely cheery attitude. Thank you.

Reply from Katie McCauley, Regsitered home manager at Royal Star & Garter - Solihull

We understand how hard it can be to make that transition to a care home, so we are really pleased to see that Mum's experience has given you the peace of mind you need. The care we provide is shaped around our values which means doing so with love and working as one team, one family and one community. Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a review. We will be sure to share this with the team.

I visited three homes - Surbiton excelled - this was unfortunate as it was far away the most expensive!
The home is beautiful. The staff excellent. The facilities and activities provided were well thought out and pleasing.
My husband appeared to enjoy the days spent there. I could relax knowing that
he was receiving excellent care.

Thank you for your review of our home and care team, we are delighted that you felt we excelled, we always strive to provide the very best care. The cost of care is challenging but we ensure our fees are benchmarked within the local area. Our specialist, 24-hour care supports residents with complex nursing needs and disabilities or dementia. Our mum used your respite service and was met with warmth and compassion. Her room was clean, inviting and had a beautiful view of the garden. She thoroughly enjoyed all of the activities and events organised and said "I was kept very busy." She loved her meal times and particularly enjoyed sitting
with other residents who shared similar interests. The staff were thorough, communication was excellent throughout her stay. She was treated with dignity, compassion and care and we could tell when we picked her up that she had really bonded with the staff. We would definitely use the service again. A big thank you!

The management staff were very good in arranging for Dad to be taken into the nursing home, all went smoothly. The care assistants and nursing staff have been very helpful and considerate. I thoroughly would recommend your home.
PS Dad says why can't he have mushrooms with his cooked breakfast?

Reply from Katie McCauley, Regsitered home manager at Royal Star & Garter - Solihull

Thank you so much for providing such lovely feedback. We appreciate your recommendation, as this will help other veterans and their partners to choose a place that's right for them. Dad can absolutely have mushrooms with every cooked breakfast. Our dining team has monthly meetings with the residents to create the menu together, and they will take any requests for whatever takes your fancy on that day.

Mom started to attend daycare once a week after she developed dementia. She so enjoyed it. When she became ill and went into hospital, we knew she wouldn't be able to go back home and live independently. It is a difficult decision to make but has been the right one for all of us. Mom is so happy, relaxed
and well cared for. The staff are really friendly, caring and professional. The meals are delicious. Mom is eating much better, and we book in to enjoy lunch with her. It's spotlessly clean with excellent facilities. Mom enjoys all the activities and has regained her confidence.

Very happy with our first experience of placing Mum in the care of The Royal Star and Garter for a short stay. The home is run in a calm, professional manner. The staff are friendly and welcoming. Mum was super calm and praised all the care home staff saying she would definitely recommend the place
to her friends. Mum was given the opportunity to be independent and invited but not forced to join in with all the many and varied daily activities. She had a lovely room and could walk out into the pretty and well-kept garden. The home has a serene, calm feeling about it with the nursing staff going about their care in a quiet professional manner. The nurses wear their own clothes and have name badges which we thought was a lovely idea. Mum was invited out on day trips and visitors were welcomed into the home. Mum loved her room and loved how quiet and calm it was there. She enjoyed the delicious meals which were served with thought and care.

Mum moved into RS&G having initially been a day care user there. The transition was seamless, undoubtedly helped by the familiarity of the building and staff members. Having been elsewhere for respite last year, we were anxious how Mum would settle (she has Alzheimer's), but worries were unfounded as
the staff are genuinely so helpful, caring and friendly - and above all, happy! The vibe at RS&G is so welcoming, the place is spotless, the staff are also very supportive towards my dad, recognising the massive adjustment for him. Mum is now getting the stimulation she needs - so many activities planned and care is tailored to the individual. All the staff, without exception, are warm, kind, caring and empathetic. The most important thing of all is that Mum is happy!

The management team are so friendly and professional. One lady was so helpful when transferring our dad from the hospital, which was an awful time for the family. All the carers are so full of love and friendly too. The activities and entertainment are great fun and all are welcome. Lovely trips our
