Churchfields Nursing Home

My uncle needed care and as he knew this care home, I asked if any rooms were available. I was contacted and offered a room, which I accepted sight unseen.
His care was outstanding and the care offered to me, as his next of kin, went beyond what was required.
My uncle was treated with the utmost respect,
a member of staff ensured he had his paper by picking it up for him on her way to work. He was not interested in food but staff did all they could to entice him to eat.
He died in August after only having 10 months there, but everyone was so kind and caring, we could not have asked for better.
If anyone is looking at this home, our experience was excellent.

My mum, aged 96, has just passed away after having spent two very happy years at Yew Tree. She moved in after my dad sadly passed away. She has a lovely, quiet ground-floor room and was well looked after by all of the staff.

My wife and I have been extremely pleased with the way our Aunt was cared for since her admission in January 2020. The care and kindness shown to her by all the staff was exemplary and there was always a warm welcome when we were able to visit. The year was very difficult for all, but the staff were
outstanding in all they did. The activities provided were very good and did motivate our Aunt to participating in some things which previously she would not have done. We cannot commend the Home highly enough and were grateful that our Aunt ended her days in such a lovely and homely place.

For the last 8 days of my husband's life, the care and attention he received was excellent. I was very impressed with the kindness of one carer in particular, as although my husband was started to keep him calm and pain-free, she chose to sit and read to him knowing how much he had enjoyed reading.

My mother was a resident at Churchfields Nursing Home from June 2013 until her death in October 2020. From the outset, I was impressed by the friendly and welcoming atmosphere. I was always greeted with a friendly smile and made to feel so welcome. The communal rooms such as the lounges and dining room
are bright and cheerful and the building is well maintained. In addition to regular visits to see my mother, I attended several social events such as Christmas parties and barbeques which all help to add to the family atmosphere. The residents are very well cared for by a good number of staff. Due to the length of time my mother lived at Churchfields, I got to know many of the staff very well and I came to feel like a member of an extended family.
Over the years my mother was living there she was always shown the utmost care and respect - making it the right place for her to spend the last years of her life.
I would have no hesitation in recommending it to friends and family.

My aunt was at Yew Tree for about 18 months.
The care she received there was so caring and with so much kindness.
The staff were wonderful to me and my aunt whenever I called or visited when I could.
Always willing to help and answer any questions I had.
I have to say the home manager, in particular,
went above and beyond in her kindness to me.
This has been a particularly hard year this year with the pandemic but the manager and the staff were always there with a cheery greeting.
I thank you all so much for the care and the love you gave to my aunt in her last days.

A really wonderful care/nursing home. They took great care of my husband and made me part of their family. I shall still keep in touch with them all by visiting and by the phone. He was always clean, well dressed and had good food. A good room with ensuite as well.

My mother has lived at Yew Tree Nursing Home for eight years until her death at 104 years. The care throughout was excellent. I visited her twice a week to join in many a session with Mum be it, music man, exercise man, others birthdays or indeed her own. All activities were given with care and consideration
to residents' needs (of varying disabilities). She always seemed very happy and content. At her death, it was at lockdown time, (I was also self-isolating). A carer/nurse from the home phoned me at the last moments of Mum's life, holding her hand to the very end.

My mum was taken to Yew Tree Nursing Home requiring 24-hour care in September 2016 after six weeks in the stroke ward at the hospital. She remained at Yew Tree for the last three and a half years of her life and died there on Thursday 19th March. Their care of her was exemplary, but it was the love
they showed her that made all the difference, and I cannot praise them highly enough.

My mother was only a resident of Yew Tree Nursing Home for a short period and I am glad that we chose this particular Nursing Home for the final days of her life. The care, thoughtfulness and professionalism shown by all the staff was wonderful and she was made comfortable to the end. We visited very
regularly and we always received a warm welcome and made to feel like one of the family in the atmosphere that has been created there. I thank you all very much.

My sister had Down's Syndrome and when she was diagnosed with dementia 11 years ago the social services moved her to Yew Tree Nursing Home. Her carers advised me to move her nearer to my home but my sister told me she liked it here (at Yew Tree) and I like my carers, so I drove to visit her once or
twice a week. The staff at Yew Tree Nursing Home have all been very kind to my sister's husband who also has down's syndrome when he visited. I visited my sister for ten and a half years until she died.

Our mother has recently been a resident at Churchfields. Her stay was quite short as she sadly passed away but I had to review how wonderful her care was in the short time she was there. Churchfields was not our first choice as mum was sent there from hospital to await further assessment. However, after
2 days we realised how fabulous the care was from a dedicated staff. Every time we visited we were immediately offered tea or coffee and mum was constantly checked upon. When I mentioned that her nails were a little long, a carer immediately arrived with manicure set and painted mum’s nails a cheery pink! Sadly mum wanted little to eat or drink but they went out of their way to find something she might like. I would not hesitate to recommend this nursing home and compliment every single member of staff. Thank you for making mum’s last days peaceful.

For the whole period my mother-in-law was resident at Churchfields she was happy and very pleased with the degree of care, friendship and assistance that was afforded to her. All the staff were very helpful, thoughtful and willing to freely attend to her needs. The environment was pleasant, the food
was good and there were a number of events taking place in which she could participate if she wanted. It's fair to say her every need was catered for. My wife and I were invited to events and we were kept informed of her medical conditions and treatments. Both my mother-in-law and my wife and I felt comforted by knowing she was in good hands.

My Father went into Yew Tree Care Home in June 2016. My Father passed away on April 11, 2018, spending approximately 20 months at Yew Tree. My Mother and I have enjoyed visiting him on a very regular basis and were always welcomed. The room was always clean and my Fathers care was superb, every member
of staff were always very polite. I was very sad to see my Father go into a home but the staff at Yew Tree made this journey much easier and the staff were extremely welcoming to my Mother when she went on her own. I would not hesitate to recommend Yew Tree to friends and family.

Dear Michael, thank you for your kind words. We at Yew Tree will always try to deliver the best possible care and make the stay of a loved one as close to the care and love they would receive at Home. Your father will be sorely missed, but please do come visit when in the area as all the team would love to see you and your mother. Mr R Patel.

I would highly recommend Churchfields to my friends and family. The staff are exceptional in their level of care making my Mum's last 7 months of her life very happy. I feel she was cared for as if she were their Mum and the staff were always happy and friendly towards her and the family alike. I made
great friendships with the staff and still keep in touch visiting the home just to see the staff now Mum has passed away.

From the start they made us feel welcome even down to painting Mum's room the colour she liked, little things make a huge difference to a new resident settling in or not and Mum did. I will always be extremely grateful for the love and care they have for all the residents treating them like family, something not very often found these days. They are unique and will always hold a special place in my heart.

From my experience of the 2 years that my Step Father was in Chuchfields, I must say that he was cared for with much dignity, patience, understanding and kindness.
All the staff and management that I ever had contact with were very friendly, polite and always kept me in touch of any developments in

First impression not great. Looks a little sad and tired. Car park is an asset but houses broken furniture and rubbish in far corner - garden although tidy is not appealing. Window dressing dated and dingy. However, there is a warmth and friendliness inside which is clear for all to see. The staff without
exception show kindness and consideration to all. Food seems to be freshly cooked and served whilst hot and appetising. Would like to see a makeover - particularly in the bedroom - which is dark and in need of modernisation.

Reply from Mr Patel, Director at Churchfields Nursing Home

Thank you for review. The concerns you have raised back our own vision and business plan for the next twelve months, which is always good to know the Home and its service users and families have the same direction. We are looking to give a face lift starting with the communal areas and then followed by the bedrooms, introducing new carpets, colour etc. The clearing of the car park has also been factored in with clearance of unwanted items around the Home, garden to be sorted once a new handyman is placed at the Home. The delay on this has been due to funding discussions with our boroughs taking longer than anticipated, but we have found alternative means now so please bear with us as changes will be coming. I also thank you for the comments in regards of the care shown by all the staff.
