The Laurels was offered as one of several choices for respite care. It was hard to acknowledge but with advancing dementia the decision had to be made and was right for Mum. The staff at The Laurels work so hard to ensure that she is loved and cared for so brilliantly well. They are quick to respond
to her changing needs, to enlist help from community nurses and specialist teams as required to keep her well. The food is home-cooked with a wonderful aroma greeting you at the door! Daily activities offer great variety and entertainment, posted on social media for families to see! Today was flower arranging. They say a picture paints a thousand words. Seeing a photo of Mum enjoying herself, a wonderful glimpse beyond the dementia of our very dear mum! Reassured Mum is settled, safe and well cared for, enables us to be daughters once again, the opportunity to take her out, to really enjoy being with Mum, making precious memories for the future!

I would recommend this fabulous nursing/care home, especially to families who are starting to search for a place for a relative which we know can be taunting and very emotional. My mum has been here a year. The care is superb from everyone who works here they are kind caring and have very good quality
nursing care it is like a big family who also take care of us and there are always activities. Trips out when the better weather arrives. The food smells delicious when you walk through the front door nothing is too much trouble and it is a happy place to be.

We have found all the staff to be caring, professional, approachable and kind. Our wishes have always been accommodated and they know Mum on a personal level. During a recent period of ill health, Mum was cared for with great sensitivity and she has recovered well.

We are so very grateful to the staff at the Laurels for being so welcoming and caring with Mum and Dad and supportive to us all as a family.
There is a positive environment and great atmosphere for encouraging clients to participate in activities both inside and outside the home, in the gardens and
local community. Activities encompassing; church services, indoor sports activities, baking and arts and crafts. Going out for coffee and cakes plus visits to pubs and rickshaw rides to Glebe farm.
There's also time for rest when the residents need it.
There is good access to arranging services such as District Nurse, medications and continence aids with the stress being removed from the family.
The food is good quality and home cooked with plenty of drinks and snacks. The home is clean, tidy and well-maintained.
The staff are dedicated, professional and compassionate. It is home from home for our parents which is very reassuring for us to see Mum and Dad happy together.

Choosing a care home isn't easy however The Laurels has suited my brother he has his own room, with toilet and washing faculties. The room is pleasant overlooking the garden. Has his own TV so can watch what he wants. Meals can be taken in his own room however the dining room has small tables up to
four sitting which makes it easy to talk to each other. Drinks and snacks are given throughout the day. The staff are all very pleasant and take the time to sit and talk to the residents. They have a TV in the lounge area plus throughout the week they do activities which they encourage the residents to play a part in. If a resident is able to go out the staff takes them out for coffee and cake which makes all the difference. There is a garden so that residents can sit in and enjoy the warmer weather. A Doctor comes weekly to check that each resident's needs are met, and a hairdresser, optician and chiropody also come to the home. The home is very welcoming.

We found The Laurels very homely and we were always welcomed as visitors. The home is well cared for as are the residents. The residents are very well catered for with meals and regular snacks and drinks. The staff are great and many of them have been happy working there for a good time so no quick
turnover of staff. They know the residents well and appear to be very fond of them. We have been very pleased with the standard of care given and would recommend The Laurels.

Very friendly and caring staff. Well-maintained rooms and communal areas. Plenty of activities to stimulate the residents. Communication between staff and other members of staff and relatives can sometimes be a problem.

My elderly mother became a resident of The Laurels in November 2022. She was 89 and suffering with Dementia. As far as myself and the family were concerned her needs were adequately being met and we were given no reason to believe otherwise. There was an incident in the early hours one morning which
resulted in an ambulance taking her to A&E. Eventually she was seen by a Doctor who deemed her fit to return to The Laurels. The Laurels refused to accept her back and evicted her rendering a vulnerable elderly lady homeless. No assessments, no notice, and no coat or shoes. Disgusting!

Reply from Michele Jackson, Manager at The Laurels

A&E did not contact the home to allow for a review/handover or to discuss the incident Friday 24th February. A CPN was supposed to phone the home to give adequate handover to allow for safety measures to be put in place before return. No opportunity was given for the home to ensure we could meet the resident’s needs.
At that moment as stated above, as home was contacting professionals Safeguarding, Social Services and Mental Health Team to support the home with the above. We advised that family take the resident back to A&E until this was sorted, family decided to remove the resident from a safe environment.
Not the case, the home would have welcomed the resident back had the appropriate measures to ensure safety been put into place by the above responsible professionals.
Daughter attended home on Friday 24th February @ 16:45pm – 17:00pm and collected some of the resident’s clothing and medication. Daughter attended home again on Saturday 25th February and collected shoes, clothing and walking stick.

They were always very caring and attentive to my mum. I just wish Mum had stayed there full-time. Her well-being improved whilst Mum was at Laurels. Also, Mum was singing hymns and playing Bingo.
I thank you for the support you also gave me, and I always knew Mum was safe with you.

Thank you for allowing the home to care for your mother here at The Laurels; it was a pleasure. Thank you for the support of the home and the donations we recently received for the resident's comfort fund.

When my dad passed away in December 2020, my mum was on her own in Middlewich. I was travelling down 3 times a day, with her memory loss, she wasn't taking her meds, not eating, leaving the front door unlocked and having falls etc. I knew the Laurels was great and knew a few people there. Since then,
Mum became a full-time resident. The difference now in her health, with eating properly, in a safe and friendly environment is good. She loves being there and she knows she's safe. The staff at the Laurels have worked hard to get Mum to where she is. I feel happy and thank you all.

My mother in law came into The Laurels a few months ago. She has settled really well and we are very impressed with the standard of care she receives. The staff are very friendly and the home is cosy and welcoming. My husband and I feel that there has been a real improvement in her overall well-being.
Thank you for the support you give in what must have been a very difficult time in the care sector.

The Laurels has extremely caring, communicative and approachable staff. Always a great atmosphere in the communal areas, lots of chatter and laughter, helped I'm sure, by the well-stocked hot drinks and snack trolley! There are quiet areas too if preferred. Plenty of activities, themed parties such
as Halloween, bonfire night etc Health problems are dealt with swiftly, family members are updated regularly. During the lockdown post-Christmas ‘21, regular video calls have been made available and we see photos of loved ones too, taken during activities or weekly pamper days! Food looks good and home-cooked. Nice to know that Mum is happy and living in a care home where care, dignity, compassion, fun, safety and security are paramount. Thank you.

I have nothing but praise for this care home. My uncle is very happy here, happier than I've seen him in a long time and all thanks to the excellent care he has received in the years that he has been at the Laurels. Nothing is too much for the staff - he enjoys himself and is very well fed and looked
after. I do not think you will find a better place for your family member when the time comes to find somewhere.

During the start of the pandemic, my Nan was moved to the Laurel’s from hospital and we were so lucky this was the case. The staff made a difficult transition with additional challenges of isolation as smooth as they possibly could have been; helping with phone calls and window visits. They have gone
above and beyond to ensure we are able to see our loved ones within lockdown. The staff are extremely helpful and clearly know the residents well. Nan always appreciates the activities and it’s a joy to see her still enjoying being creative!

In these very difficult times, the carers have looked after mum with compassion and dedication. I’m so impressed that the staff obviously know mum so well when I phone. The Manager knows all mum’s details whenever I need to contact the home. Mum has settled well and enjoys all the activities that the
activity coordinator organises. The photos on Facebook are a joy to see. Thank you to everyone at The Laurels.
I’ve had limited opportunity to view facilities with covid restrictions so my ratings reflect that.

My husband has been living at The Laurels for 5 months and I think we definitely made the right choice of home for him. The staff could not be kinder or more welcoming to myself or our family. He can be difficult, but they have gone out of their way to help him settle in, and feel at home.
