My mum has been there for over a month now and I have been so impressed with the care from all the staff. Everyone is warm, patient, kind, helpful and professional. Mums health had deteriorated very suddenly and rapidly but within a few weeks her physical health has hugely improved.
The Weir has a
lovely communal and family friendly feel-even pets are welcomed. There is a genuine sense of care and compassion, which seems to have been lost in many health care facilities.
I would recommend The Weir to anyone in the sad position where a loved one needs residential care.

The staff provided exceptional support and reassurance to my grandfather and our family following the challenging decision to transition him to care. From his arrival, he has consistently received dignified, respectful, and patient treatment. He frequently praises the staff's kindness and expresses
deep gratitude for their care. He's also enjoying the diverse range of activities offered. Our visits are always welcoming, inquiries are promptly addressed, and concerns are effectively alleviated. As a family, we are exceedingly pleased with the level of care provided.

Moorhouse Care Home

from Elizabeth F (Niece of Resident) published on 7 March 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5

Always found staff v welcoming, although they're always busy with residents care. The overall impression is a well maintained and vital care home. Residents appear happy and content, no one is agitated or insecure, this would indicate residents needs (physical & emotional) are being met consistently.
Staff are professional and friendly. The home is a perfect size - not too many residents, nice balance in numbers. No neglect - everyone is caring, compassionate to the residents needs. Spotlessly clean environment - reassuring loved ones are in good hands. Would highly recommend the are home - note for improvement a small day room near reception for more private visits.

Reply from Julie Watts, Manager at Moorhouse Care Home

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. As a team we all work hard to ensure that the residents are well cared for and I appreciate that you have observed the kindness and professionalism of the staff. It would be difficult to make a small lounge near reception, however, we have refurbished the activity room and renamed it Lutyens Lounge which can be accessed. I will pass on your kind words and observations to the team.

Broomy Hill Nursing Home

from David G (Son-in-law of Resident) published on 21 February 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My mother-in-law has been at Broomy Hill for approximately 2 years, her care has been great and our family has seen a much improved condition. Having come to Broomy from another "care" home, which allowed a broken hip and ungradable pressure sore to go untreated! My mother-in-law is a wonderful lady
who is finally getting the care she deserves. The staff are very engaging and every aspect of her care, dignity, health, and wealth of experience is catered for. We got my mother-in-law a special postural pressure relief tilt-in-space chair, some of the chairs don't give postural support for the residents. Communal areas could be more homely with nicer furnishings and pictures. Activities displayed on the noticeboard, regular engagement activities such as making, painting and singers coming in, also activities like summer fair, basic engagement such as balloons is very good for hand-eye coordination. Some resident rooms are nicer than others some quite small and basic. Limited road parking.

Mum was taken to the garden centre by two staff members to buy some compost so she could plant some daffodil bulbs in the containers. She also had a look around and bought some of her favourite biscuits. When I spoke to Mum that night she said it was the first time since being at Moorhouse it felt like
a 'normal' day, more like being at home. She had really enjoyed planting out the bulbs when she got back to Moorhouse.

Reply from Julie Watts, Manager at Moorhouse Care Home

Involved in the Xmas party, which she enjoyed immensely and so very proud of her daughter who provided the music on this occasion The panto and Xmas day lunch were amazing
and all the staff made her feel so special. I want to thank you all so much for making this the best Xmas for my mum and giving us, all the family, so much peace of mind that she is being cared for so well.

Overall very good but the food she finds unappetising and despite frequent requests for small portions she is still given overwhelming portions. Sandwiches are often thick white bread with crusts and no extras like crisps, mayo and salad etc. The staff are wonderfully kind and caring.

My wife arrived at Moorhouse in November 2024 and has settled in well and has been supported by friendly, caring, professional staff.
She has a lovely, well-furnished and well-decorated room which is very comfortable. The food is nutritious and suits my wife and she is participating in the varied daily
activities programme which is completely organised and enthusiastically encouraged. It was a difficult decision to admit my wife into a care home but it is working out well which is a great relief and all at Moorhouse have assisted in this. Thank you.

I can't thank the staff enough for caring for my mum in the last few weeks of her life. Allt Y Mynydd Nursing Home provided excellent palliative care when we really needed it. The nurses, carers, cooks, cleaners and administrative staff were all excellent, so caring and very professional. The room was
bright, clean and had a lovely view for my mum. Liaison with the local doctor's surgery was wonderful. The nursing home is in a beautiful setting, perched high in the beautiful hills with views of the forest and valley.
