My mum has been there for over a month now and I have been so impressed with the care from all the staff. Everyone is warm, patient, kind, helpful and professional. Mums health had deteriorated very suddenly and rapidly but within a few weeks her physical health has hugely improved.
The Weir has a
lovely communal and family friendly feel-even pets are welcomed. There is a genuine sense of care and compassion, which seems to have been lost in many health care facilities.
I would recommend The Weir to anyone in the sad position where a loved one needs residential care.

Dad has been in the Weir for just over 3 years now. It is clear he is well cared for he has an excellent relationship with the staff and has lots of opportunity to take part in various activities. The food is excellent and the communication between myself and them is always very good.

The staff provided exceptional support and reassurance to my grandfather and our family following the challenging decision to transition him to care. From his arrival, he has consistently received dignified, respectful, and patient treatment. He frequently praises the staff's kindness and expresses
deep gratitude for their care. He's also enjoying the diverse range of activities offered. Our visits are always welcoming, inquiries are promptly addressed, and concerns are effectively alleviated. As a family, we are exceedingly pleased with the level of care provided.

Broomy Hill Nursing Home

Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My mother-in-law has been at Broomy Hill for approximately 2 years, her care has been great and our family has seen a much improved condition. Having come to Broomy from another "care" home, which allowed a broken hip and ungradable pressure sore to go untreated! My mother-in-law is a wonderful lady
who is finally getting the care she deserves. The staff are very engaging and every aspect of her care, dignity, health, and wealth of experience is catered for. We got my mother-in-law a special postural pressure relief tilt-in-space chair, some of the chairs don't give postural support for the residents. Communal areas could be more homely with nicer furnishings and pictures. Activities displayed on the noticeboard, regular engagement activities such as making, painting and singers coming in, also activities like summer fair, basic engagement such as balloons is very good for hand-eye coordination. Some resident rooms are nicer than others some quite small and basic. Limited road parking.

My mother never wanted to be in a care home, but due to her needs which I could no longer provide, I was left with no alternative but to find a home for her. On the recommendation of a friend, whose own mother was at Holmer, I was fortunate to get a room over two years ago. From day one, the staff made
my mother feel welcome and put her at ease. The care they provide not only to her but to all of the residents allows me to rest easy knowing that mum is in an environment where the utmost respect is given to her by all the staff (from the cooks, cleaners, carers, and managers).

The atmosphere on entering the home is always a positive one with encouragement given to all the elderly residents, when they need it, along with support to those of us who visit. A little humour and a smile goes a long way to make people feel better in all sorts of circumstances and Holmer Court staff do that naturally. For people needing assurances about care homes, then a visit to Holmer Court will provide just that.

My mother-in-law has been a resident at Broomy Hill for approx 15 months.
Whilst it's difficult to see your loved one deteriorate, all the staff are friendly and show care and compassion.
The home has recently seen a change in management, whilst we were happy with my mother-in-law's care before, the
changes the new manager has made have improved the environment and culture of the home.
Small things which make a massive difference.
When I visit I'm always greeted with a friendly hello from the receptionist, the cares, the cook everyone, thank you to all at Broomy Hill for the kindness you are showing my mum-in-law and her family.

Reply from Julie Hamill, Home Manager at Broomy Hill Nursing Home

My father was a resident from June to October 2024. It was a very difficult time for my dad. The medical challenges that he presented to the staff at Broomy Hill Nursing Home were challenging but everyone dealt with them with great professionalism and kindness.

I would just like to say a massive thank you to everyone at Broomy Hill Nursing Home for the exceptional care they have provided my father since he arrived in July. A special mention must go to the care home manager, as a family, we were very nervous about our father's transition from his previous home
in Wales but she made the move seamless and her support throughout was outstanding and the quality of care compared to his previous home had blown me away. Thank you once again.

I was very apprehensive about my Mum entering into a care home as I had looked after her at home for seven years however from the moment we walked in the atmosphere of love and care was clear. I can not praise the staff at Holmer enough there is a fantastic atmosphere and it is an incredibly happy and
vibrant place to visit. Every single member of staff that I have encountered have been caring and knowledgeable and clearly exceptionally good at their job. My Mum was instantly put at ease and settled extremely quickly and was made to feel important and cared for from day one. Holmer Court has totally changed my impression of care homes and I now feel my Mum is in a safe nurturing environment which is so wonderful to see.
