As a resident at Bartlett's for almost 3 years, mum has always received excellent care, even when her behaviour was difficult due to her advanced Alzheimer's. Everyone, no matter what their role, showed fantastic compassion and I couldn't have asked for better care for mum. They have also been extremely
supportive of my brother and I during what has been a difficult time for us all.

Bartlett's Residential Care Home

from N H (Daughter of Resident) published on 7 March 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5

Lovely place but our mothers's stay didn't come without issue and the rising costs from £1.6k per week to £2k per week within 2 years was extortionate. It's bright, clean, boasts of it's 18 acres (most of which are not available to residents) and is beautiful. The staff are very loving and attentive,
and the best part. Some management and night staff less so. Lots of things to do for residents but weekends the place is not as stimulating. Communications were poor. Emails would not be responded to by senior carers, so we wouldn't know if it had been addressed and the Manager rarely replies to emails. Care plans were chased, personal hygiene was not taken care of well at times. Food was ok but fed too much sugar and cakes. She fell in their care and died 6 weeks later. We never heard from them after her death offering condolence/card/flowers until I complained. The AM she died I was pulled aside into a room and asked to give a review and if I could leave an excellent review to keep their numbers up -shocking! The manager hates criticism.

I have been sitting here wondering what to say because it is almost unheard of to come across a business which is perfect. Bearing in mind that perfection does not exist, this nursing home, without question exceeds in every aspect of the provision of it's services. The most important being the absolutely
genuine love and care that residents receive.

My father became a resident at Merryfield in early December 2024. His introduction to the care at Merryfield has been a revelation. He is so well looked after by the excellent staff. Everyone from the Chef to Senior Management are so approachable and eager to do their best for him. After a disappointing
time at a previous care home in Witney, making the decision to move a 95 year old was not easy but we are so glad we did.
The care given is fantastic, and I cannot praise the team there enough.

My wife suffers from late stage dementia. After falling ill with a blood infection she was taken into hospital. After three days she was discharged but the family realised where she lived was not suitable for her deteriorating condition. We found Stone House Nursing Home, contacted them and within two
days she was taken in. The staff immediately comforted her and made her feel safe. All the staff are first class, polite, caring, kind and above all want to do the best for my wife.

Absolutely fantastic.
All the staff were amazing, kind, compassionate and caring.
The nicest nursing/care home ever.
The only tip if one is needed is maybe new towels.
Mum started here with strangers - and ended up leaving with friends and emotions saying goodbye.

Stone House continues to look after Mum in a caring and professional way.
They have this year built a lovely new garden and patio making the outside much more accessible. We had a lovely picnic on the patio for Mum's Birthday.
The staff from the catering and activities teams are always looking to
offer new ideas for the residents.
A great nursing home.

Bartlett's Residential Care Home is a wonderful, very well-appointed home of character set in glorious, well-maintained grounds with views to the Chiltern Hills.
My father used to visit a friend when she became a resident and he praised it endlessly, so when the time came for the move from his own
home, Bartlett's was the obvious place as it was "home from home".
Father has now been a resident for four years and continues to praise everyone and everything - empathy would seem to be second nature to all staff at Bartlett's, they have endless time for their residents and are very aware of and responsive to their ever-changing needs.
I benefit from the same empathy afforded to my father and am made to feel very much a part of the "Bartlett's family". I am always welcomed and included in any activity and kept informed of any issues with Father and also what he has taken part in and how he has enjoyed it.

The friendly, courteous and professional care given to my mother when she arrived with many medical issues, was a great start to her stay at Stone House Nursing Home. Her medical conditions require constant monitoring and any major changes are promptly communicated to relatives when appropriate. Her
dietary needs are catered for (by the chef adapting the varied menu) and she participates (when she can) in some of the many activities provided by the home. It is reassuring to know she is being cared for by such a considerate and caring team in a peaceful county setting. My father was also a resident during the last months of his life and was also treated with great respect and professionalism.

Moving a parent to a care home is a huge and sometimes difficult decision but we knew, immediately, that we had chosen the right place. Every member of staff is friendly, caring and highly professional. We are delighted and our dad would award yu all 110% if he could - his words! Thank you to everyone.

My husband has received very good care and treatment whilst at Stone House Nursing Home. The staff have been kind and caring and have even incorporates celebrating special events. He has appreciated his very pleasant room. The only negative point is the accessibility at the main door and the time that
it sometimes takes to get up to his room for a person using a zimmer!

Writing on behalf of my whole family, we would like to thank all the staff at Merryfield Nursing Home for looking after my father with such dignity, care and attention during his final weeks. There is a happy atmosphere at Merryfield and the staff are all so lovely to be around. There is a feeling of
genuine, humble service and personal, caring attention to the residents. My father was really well looked after, had his own room and bathroom, and was checked regularly. Family were free to come and go as needed and we developed friendships with staff who were always available to answer concerns. Our doctor said that Merryfield is the nicest nursing home he has visited in Oxfordshire and I can believe it. We are so happy that we made the decision to take my father to Merryfield. We miss you all!
