Bickerton House

from Denise W (Niece of Resident) published on 9 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

Bickerton House care home took care of my elderly aunt for around 5 months before she died.
They came to the rescue of our family when she initially needed urgent respite care after an emergency operation, and again after a another spell in hospital after which when she needed palliative care. The
staff were all very kind to her, and also to the family members who visited her. It was not easy caring for someone so poorly and the staff did their very best for her right up to the end. Her family are all very grateful that we were able to use the services of Bickerton House at what was a difficult time.

We have been very impressed with the care and support given to our mother. Despite being in care for just a few months she has settled very well, largely due to the extra effort made by the caring staff of Queens Court. We would happily recommend.

Dad had a to go into emergency care last February when mum was taken very poorly and was in a hospital and we needed to be with her. Queens Court had a bed and when mum passed away two weeks later we were able to go through the process for dad to be a permanent resident. It was a tough journey for us
as a family but with the help and support of everyone at Queens Court we got through a terrible time. Dad is very happy and so am I and my sister.

My mother passed away in Mountbatten Grange in December leaving my father, who is also a resident. I cannot fault the care that my mother was given. It enabled her to have the most dignified death. Since mum died the staff's care of my father has been incredible and he has been so well supported. That
care and support has been also extended us as dad's wider family. The care home provides a safe environment where residents are enjoying living. Mountbatten grange should be used as an example of good practice to all such settings.

My dad has been in Parsons Grange since July 24 now and we had reservations about him going into a home and how he and the family would cope, but the staff have been excellent and have made this journey smooth and comfortable for everyone involved. My dad now has a better social life then me with all

My Mother moved to Parsons Grange 7 months ago just before her 100th Birthday Life at home was getting difficult and it was time to be looked after, after viewing a few homes we found Parsons Grange and immediately new this was the right one ,we could see that there was life in the home with residents
walking about ,sitting in the garden and Bistro and also offered nursing care as being nearly 100 we thought this was the right option . It took a while to settle but now she is always looking happy and encouraged to join in the activities if any problem we are contacted immediately. The staff are all very caring and have time for the residents , food always looks delicious with plenty of alternatives on offer (she even looks like she has gained weight ) Loves having her nails and hair done and joining in with the Butterfly Buddies what is there not to like far safer and better than being at home on your own .Well done Parsons Grange !

It was an extremely hard decision for me to decide that my mother had to go into a Care Home but I could not have asked for better guidance and support from everyone at Parsons Grange. One member of staff in particular has been absolutely brilliant.
It is a caring and nurturing environment and my
mother always says how lovely everyone is. I would have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone.

My mother(who had Dementia) became a resident at Parsons Grange in September 2023,and sadly passed away August 2024. During her time there, all of the staff were absolutely brilliant. From the very start, the lady in Sales was a fantastic help in guiding us through the whole process etc. and my mother
settled in so well. We (my husband and I )have continued to stay friends with her and the rest of the staff since she passed away and even recently the home were kind enough to let us plant a beautiful yellow Shrub in their garden as a remembrance of her. She never once asked when am I going back to her home. She always thought the care home room that she was in was her home. We used to visit many times in a week, and when she eventually passed away the staff were magnificent in dealing with the situation and so sensitive towards us. We cannot thank all of the staff enough for looking after her. This home is a fantastic place and we would highly recommend this as a 5 star care home.

My sister has now been a dementia resident here for over two years. Her behaviour has deteriorated but all the staff without exception deal with her with infinite patience and care
Today she was quite aggressive towards myself and staff immediately responded to calm her down
Unfortunately she refuses
to interact with any of the activities but there are so many things she could join in with

The team at Mountbatten Grange are always friendly and welcoming. The environment is peaceful and very well kept with lots of attention to detail - we always enjoy the freshly made cakes in the cafe area!! Rooms are spacious and well decorated and feel like someone's home rather than a clinical space.
Gran has become brighter and more chatty since moving in and we have peace of mind she is well cared for.

Parsons Grange is an excellent care home and I'm very happy it is where mum calls home. Mum orginally came to Parsons for respite care following a long hospital stay. She quickly settled and with the care of the team, her physical health and mental well-being has improved. We've now made her move permanent
and it's a huge relief to know mum is looked after and importantly, feels safe and at home.
The team put a lot of effort into putting on a weekly schedule of activities and special events.
There is always a hot meal available at both lunch and dinner, an alternative menu, and snacks and drinks available throughout the day that residents can help themselves to, which is great for mum.
The staff work hard and are friendly. If you ever have any worries, they will make the time to listen to you. The customer relations manager, has been incredibly supportive and is a real asset to the home. She is clearly valued by all the residents too.

I received a warm welcome on arrival as usual.
The Manager is very approachable and energetic in her quest to make the residents happy and enhance the surroundings.
My mother is happy and settled and enjoys socialising with her friends and taking part in the wider variety of activities now taking
place.
Visitors are made welcome and are able to enjoy refreshments with their loved ones like a home from home.
