My mum has just had two weeks respite in the potteries. I was so impressed with the home and the staff.
The home is welcoming with a bright and airey reception and cafe area. The staff are very caring and pay great attention to detail , everyone seemed to know her name from day one .
I delivered her
case the afternoon before admission , her clothes were taken and immediately named and were hanging in her wardrobe/ drawers when we arrived . The lifestyle team encouraged mum to take part in activities of which there are many .Mum enjoyed the meals and the chef and team provided lovely cakes everyday for the cafe.
Many thanks to all at the potteries , would definitely recommend if you are looking for a care home .

from Z A (Friend of Resident) published on 19 February 2025

The Manor is a spacious and pleasant environment. It is always clean and neat, and the staff are always pleasant. The arrangement of the rooms from a visitor's point of view could do with reviewing, as there is generally not a visitor's chair, and if there is you can only sit on the other side of the
bed and if there is not you have to sit on the bed.

Ferndown Manor and all the staff continue to be amazing in all the care, understanding, provision of entertainment and activities for my mother in law. Their support to her and her needs and to us as a family at a distance goes above and beyond. My mother in law has flourished since becoming a resident
at Ferndown Manor which is all attributed to the comments above.

I can't thank the team at The Potteries enough for the care and attention they gave to my Mum and also us as a family. They all went above and beyond and with so many highs and lows for us to all to deal with.
The warmth felt by my Mum was reciprocated with the team being known as 'her girls'. In
the short time Mum was there she was so very well cared for.
The family had regular messages from the team to keep us involved with Mum's care. We were always made to feel welcome when visiting.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend The Potteries.

Ferndown Manor is an excellent care home. The management and all members of staff are always kind, helpful and extremely supportive. My mother has had several respite stays over the past year and l have had the pleasure of getting to know many of her carers. The home is clean, well run and offers so
many things such as hairdressing, chiropody, a lovely coffee shop, various activities for the residents and their families, and delicious, varied nutritious meals. l felt that my mother was always safe, well cared for and treated with the utmost dignity and respect. Thank you to everyone.

Living in Canada, I needed a trustworthy, safe and comfortable location for my 90-year-old Mother. I have been so pleased with the super care, warmness and constant updates the home provides. I cannot fault this location in any way and highly recommend it to anyone looking for top-class care for an
ageing relative, to provide them with a five-star lovely home in their latter years.

My father was a resident at The Potteries for 5 years passing away on the 10th of October. His time at the Potteries gave him a very very happy and fulfilling care experience. The continuing strive by the management team to build the best team of service providers I've enjoyed being a part of too. The
icing on the cake being the lifestyle team now in place who bring so much joy to the residents.
Dad loved the staff and the staff loved him, it says something when I'm missing the team as they've become such a big part of my routine.

Generally happy with the care dad receives. The staff take time to get to know him and tailor the care accordingly. Minor concerns about the inconsistency of activities on offer, this is due to unavailability of staff, particularly at weekends. Food seems good and plenty of variation. Facilities starting
to show their age although maintenance staff are excellent. Non-care staff (chefs, reception, housekeeping) all show care and compassion to residents. Management often invisible.

Reply from Samantha Debenham, Reviews Team at Ferndown Manor

Firstly, I would like to start by thanking you for leaving feedback for Ferndown Manor. I am pleased to read you have been generally happy with the care provided to your dad and that you feel the staff take time to get to know him. This feedback will be greatly appreciated by the team. I would like to reassure we will take this feedback on board and we will review the activities schedule. Huge thanks to the managment team and all your brilliant staff (including the chefs and catering staff) who took care of my husband whilst he stayed with you for respite during September. He hasn't stopped talking about how wonderful everything and everyone were - so much kindness came his way making
his 'holiday' a real pleasure, he was very reluctant to leave. This all helped our family and myself to cope with my hospitalisation knowing that he was safe, happy and so well cared for in such a beautiful home from home. Please relay our heartful thanks to all.

A very welcoming rest home, with a lovely atmosphere. The staff are always happy and efficient, everywhere clean and tidy. My mum came out looking better than when she went in. The food was good (including the cakes!) and well received. Her only gripe was being woken up at 22.00 for her medication -
she's used to taking it at 20.00.

Review of

Anning House

from Jennifer M (Resident) published on 25 October 2024
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 3.0 out of 5

Having been obliged to leave Anning House after over 4 years, because my capital was depleted, I can now appreciate better the care I received there. The contrast with my current setting is marked. However, so many improvements could have been made, with very little expenditure or effort. Despite continual
requests, the food lacked a variety of green vegetables frequently cold and not well presented. With a few exceptions, carers were caring, competent and conversational! Communication with managers was very sparing, however, my main cause for dissatisfaction was the lack of a written, up-to-date, comprehensible service/care plan that would have provided me and my family with the assurance that we were getting what we were paying for and that my needs were understood by all those involved. Staff turnover meant having to frequently verbalise what I required.
Do not be seduced by the provision of "Other Health Services" - just a list of what is available to all members of the NHS, not "in-house".

Reply from Samantha Debenham, Reviews Team at Anning House

Dear Jennifer, Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback for Anning House. We will always look to take on feedback and make improvements where needed. I am pleased to read you felt the carers were caring, competent and conversational. We wish you the best.
