From the outset the quality and professionalism of each and every member of the staff is exemplary. Each individual knows their role and responsibilities which they undertake at the highest level, and the focus at Halecroft for everyone are their clients and their families. From the moment you step
inside you know it is a very special place. It is immaculately clean, the residents are all happy and settled and really embrace all that is on offer to them. The wraparound care and support is just as it should be and exactly what you want for your loved one. The food is carefully planned and is plentiful and nutritious to ensure the health and wellbeing of the community. We know mum is happy and safe and all her individual needs are met, which in turn gives us total peace of mind. An amazing team doing an amazing job! Thank you!

Halecroft Grange

from Nat P (Daughter of Resident) published on 11 February 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My mum wanted to try respite in a care home, and after looking at a couple of homes, Halecroft stood out. The staff were very welcoming and assisted in making my mum comfortable which was very helpful as my mum was quite anxious about the experience. There was truly individualistic care offered by all
the staff. The food had not been particularly appetising initially, however, this had already been recognised, and a new chef started whilst she was there. The food quality was excellent following this.

There were staff available when needed, and the home was warm, clean and comfortable. There were a variety of activities on offer, but my mum also liked that she could pick and choose activities of her choosing and have the flexibility of food in her room if she wasn't feeling well. I was very impressed with the communication from the staff, particularly the new customer relations manager in helping me navigate the introduction to care and also in managing my mum's anxieties.

Christmas at Halecroft Grange was fantastic, everyone made such an effort to give the residents the best time. From the huge tree in reception to the decorations, the daily activities and the vast amounts of food. To name but a few, mum attended quizzes, parties, choirs, had singing around the piano
and went to the market stalls set up in reception.
It's so lovely to see mum living her best life and surrounded by lovely people, she has a better social life than me! I wouldn't want it any other way. Thanks to all.

The exact amount of medication was handed in on arrival. At the end of the stay unused medication was handed back showing that on a number of days the medication was not administered. Both eye drops and blood thinners. His left foot was very swollen and our attention on pick up was not drawn to this.

My dad arrived at Abney Court in November after multiple visits to the hospital. The move went well with management and care staff making this possible. Any queries or issues have been addressed and the care staff have approached me and my sisters to notify us of any concerns they have had with my dad's
care.

Riverside

from Peter B (Nephew of Resident) published on 23 December 2024
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My aunt was a resident at Riverside from May 2023, having been moved from another nursing home to be closer to ourselves. The experience of Riverside, from day one, has been exemplary with all the staff ensuring my aunt was well dressed, clean and ensuring her dietary needs were met, even when she had
gone off standard food and was on liquid supplements. She had dementia and found it difficult to communicate but the way the staff spoke with her was a joy to watch her face light up when she was spoken to. When medical issues occurred, her care was forefront and I and my partner were informed at all times until she passed away very recently. The funeral directors also passed on to me how respectful all the staff were when my aunt was taken into their care. So very touching. This venue is excellent and highly recommend it to anyone.

My friend moved into Oakfield in October. We had visited their company and cuppa events many times and found the staff exceptionally friendly and supportive. The rooms are nicely decorated and spotless. All staff have been immensely helpful and caring. They understand my friend's needs and they have
got to know him and his needs to enable a comfortable transition into care.

Thanks to Abney Court Care Home for allowing our family to host my dad's 93rd birthday party so he could spend it with his wife, a celebration that always took place when my mum was still living at home. The gathering was filled with love, laughter and cherished memories. It is the moments like these
that remind us of the warmth of family and the joy of being together. This makes such a difference to my mum and dad as she navigates her journey with dementia. The family are truly grateful for the support you show every day.

Myself and my family would like to thank all the staff at Riverside Care Home for caring for both of my grandparents over the last few months. Especially this last week during the end of my Grandads life. The care, compassion, and commitment of all staff have been outstanding. Both day and night staff
have made us feel comfortable, relaxed and well looked after during the difficult time. We continue to thank them for the ongoing care they are giving to my Grandma and the support she is receiving during her grief. Special thanks to all the team. You made our difficult situation easier and without you all looking after us we don't know what we would have done.

Thought my mum was going into a loving care home but that was not the case. More regimental feeling as opposed to a homely feeling. I lost my mum in Sept 24, was a peaceful passing and she is now at rest, which is the comfort to this day I have, as she had me and my husband by her side. Staff and management
wanted the funeral date but no show from anyone to represent Care UK or Riverside was very saddening for me. Please choose wisely when looking at care homes for your loved ones.

Reply from Samantha Debenham, Reviews Team at Riverside

I would like to start by offering my sincere condolences on the loss of your mum. Please know our thoughts are with you during this difficult time. I am sorry to read you felt it was regimented rather than a homely feel and nobody had attended the funeral to represent from the home.
After discussing this with the home in more detail, we understand that there was miscommunication for the funeral date for your mum, which unfortunately resulted in the home team not being able to attend. We understand that the team at the home sent flowers and were also in receipt of boxes of chocolates from the family as a way to thank the team, which they were really appreciative of.
At Care UK we hold ourselves to high standards and I am sorry you feel we did not meet your expectations. We will always strive to improve and take on feedback. If you wish to discuss this in any more detail please do not hesitate to contact our Compliments and Complaints Team. You can contact them on complimentsandcomplaints@careuk.com

My father has just passed away a few days ago at Halecroft after a short illness. The care of the staff and respect have been second to none. The dignity and respect, they gave him, and us as a family, has been amazing. Kindness beyond words to him and us.
During his time at Halecroft, a total of 11
months, he was so happy and settled there. he thoroughly enjoyed all the activities, and the food too.
A very big thank you to all the staff.

Our Grandad came here in December 2023 and was not in a good place both mentally and physically. Following multiple accidents at his home and long stays in the hospital, Grandad accepted that change was needed and we got him discharged from hospital directly to the home. Grandad was unable to walk safely
at this time. The process was so easy and well coordinated by the team and I am pleased to say that Grandad is enjoying his life here. He is happy, well fed and supported by the team.
Through his mobility classes we are pleased to say that he back on his feet and walking. The team here are brilliant and always available to have a chat about anything. He even gets his fresh oatcakes from Staffordshire!

My mum has been a resident for over 18 months. Staff throughout the home know her and interact with her whenever they see her. There are numerous activities across the week as well as daily exercises. Mum especially loves it when the nursery children come in. Her weekly hairdressing appointment helps
keep her looking good. From the moment I walk in to the minute I leave the Oakfield family is welcoming, providing a safe space for Mum, lots of interaction and a very personal touch.

From the 26th of August my dad will have been at Oakfield Croft for three years and he is loving every moment of his stay. The care and love he receives from the staff, from the laundry people to the manager and everyone else in between, has been 100%. This is reciprocated by Dad who says it's home
from home. So it's a huge thank you to everyone at Oakfield Croft and Care UK.
