Dashwood Manor

from J H (Daughter of Resident) assisted by family/friend published on 14 March 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5

My mother's stay was pleasant, the staff were helpful, pleasant and supportive. The facilities, for example the hairdressers and coffee shop, were a big asset. The whole care home is well-presented, clean and has a happy atmosphere. She felt safe and secure. The food could be improved with a little
imagination but was adequate. The dining room was very well presented. She enjoyed her stay and had conversations with other residents and staff, although more stimulating activities would have been welcome.

Reply from Leahanne Wilkinson, Home Manager at Dashwood Manor

Hello J H (daughter Of Resident) thank you very much for taking the time to leave us positive feedback about your experience. I have passed on your feedback to the chef and the lifestyle team. We hold regular residents meeting's where the residents are asked for feedback, ideas or wish's and changes are made. The activities are based on residents wants and wishes, and varied weekly. It was a pleasure to spend time with and get to know her.
Many thanks from the whole Dashwood Manor team, hope we will see you at the dog cafe.

The Pear Tree Court has been a wonderful care home for my father during his stay there.
The staff, carers and nurses have been outstanding and I cannot fault them. They are kind, caring and very understanding.
My father is very happy at Pear Tree Court and this to me is paramount in my father's
welfare. I go home contented knowing he is being looked after and cared for 100% 24/7.
All the team are kind and very caring.

I would like to thank all of the staff at Parker Meadows for taking such good care of my husband, who was suffering from Parkinson's disease with Lewy Body dementia and Alzheimer's. I never wanted him to be in a nursing home but I could not have found anywhere better. He was very happy there and well
looked after with patience and respect. At the same time, the staff were wonderful at supporting me. I can not thank them enough and I am very grateful for how much they helped us both at this very difficult time.

Pear Tree Court

from Sarah M (Granddaughter of Resident) published on 17 February 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My nan has been in Pear Tree Court since January and is settling in nicely. She has already been moved rooms to one with a garden view which hopefully she will get to see soon but has been very poorly since Christmas when she was in hospital with flu and pneumonia. The care staff are very attentive
to detail and making sure she has everything she needs. The chef also is great and knows her favourite foods. The facilities are good and there is a cafe where you can make yourself coffee and there are homemade goods for all to eat. Upstairs there is a cinema for the residents which has even been made to look as such with proper seats. All the staff and reception are very welcoming and friendly. You can visit as much as you like. I am especially impressed with the timetable that goes out every week with different events and sometimes birthdays that they can all participate in. Hopefully nan will get better soon and enjoy some of these.

Whilst this home has beautiful facilities unfortunately I would not recommend for residents who need higher levels of care including more acute mobility issues and dementia.
I have high praise for the reception team and activity coordinators who are very friendly and genuinely seem to have care and
affection for residents however the medical teams and day to day care seems to be completed as a tick box excercise without a genuine care for my grandmother. Issues I have encountered include;
- Staff failing to complete hourly checks and falsifying paperwork records
- Lack of dignity given to my grandmother, rushing procedures and not giving her genuine patience and choices.
- Not notifying next of kin when she completely ran out of underwear allowing her to go 2 weeks before rectifying
- Not reacting in a timely manner to fall alerts or alarms
- hygiene concerns with bathroom being left in an unacceptable state for several hours.
- loss of personal clothing items

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback for Ancasta Grove and for bringing your concerns to our attention. I understand these concerns are historic and were resolved at the time. Please be assured should you have any further concerns to speak with the Home Manager or alternatively you can contact the Compliments and Complaints Team on complimentsandcomplaints@careuk.com. I can confirm a meeting has been arranged for Monday with the Home Manager and the Next Of Kin to raise any ongoing concerns. The care and support to our residents and families is of the upmost importance to us and we want to ensure we are addressing all concerns. Thank you once again. Best wishes.

I arrived from being a patient in the general hospital to convalesce and after a fortnights stay I was able to walk again with the help of a frame. Everything was done to help me back to good health. Regular meals, exercises with occupational therapy, visits from district nurse, where needed - regular
drug rounds. Outings to various places of interest and various entertainments during Christmas and New Year. All in all, my stay in Carpathia Grange was a most enjoyable one. The management and care were so good. A happy place to be recommended. All of the carers were lovely people.

I am now in my second year being a resident at Carpathia Grange. From my first day here, I was made very welcome. I enjoy spending time meeting other residents. When I wish to be private, my room is very comfortable. When I need help, as I have done, the staff are very supportive. My family and friends

I am exceptionally pleased with the care my mother is having from the care home and the staff who have been extremely patient and very kind with her during her settling-in period. The home is very well-kept and clean in all areas and the coffee lounge in reception is very pleasant for residents and
their guests. The security on the entrance gates and the doors within the buildings is controlled very well, and I am confident of my mother's safety. The food seems to be of a high standard and certainly adapts to her requirements. I am also impressed with the activities that are carried out each day and the work that the team put into this to make it a happy experience.

Pear Tree Court

from Susan E (Daughter of Resident) published on 22 January 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

Pear Tree Court is a wonderful place in all respects. The staff are amazing and work so hard to ensure all the residents' needs are met. Mum has been there for 18 months and is very happy, she has made friends and has the choice of many activities if she wishes to join in. There is a hair salon too
and also regular pampering sessions where Mum has her nails painted which she loves. Pear Tree Court has a very homely feel and is beautifully furnished and comfortable. The food is very good and the chef always ensures residents favourites are on the menu. There are no restrictions for visiting and there is a lovely coffee shop and garden area. I attend the regular relative meetings, which are held by the management and are very helpful in hearing about future plans and events and a chance to ask questions. Although the management have an open-door policy so it's always easy to speak to them should you need to.

from Fiona C (Daughter of Resident) published on 22 January 2025

Pear Tree Court is a lovely place. Not at all the typical idea we have of care homes. It is bright, modern, clean and beautifully decorated. Very well laid out with lots of lovely rooms for activities or quiet moments should you need them. There is a coffee shop with drinks and cakes for residents and
visitors and a large garden. The dining room is lovely with amazing food on offer with a change of menu every day. There is a lovely friendly atmosphere and everyone greets us cheerily. Our Mum has her door open so staff and other residents often pop in for a chat or wave as they go by. It has been a big adjustment for our Mum and not without difficulties but after a few months she is feeling much more settled. It has been a huge relief for our family to know that she has 24 hour care and is safe. One issue is that staffing levels are not always as good as they should be. Our Mum has sometimes still been in bed until late morning when visitors arrive. Care on the whole is great.
