Foxbridge House

from Catherine P (Daughter of Resident) published on 14 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 2.0 out of 5

First impressions were good when viewing, we found the home clean, warm & welcoming. The sales manager, in particular was kind & knowledgeable. However, once my parents moved in it became quickly apparent that there were not enough staff to meet mum's needs, Communication between staff was poor. Some
staff did not follow correct procedures, eg lifting & repositioning. Mum was not checked as frequently as we were told. Mum often asked for help with toileting but was left waiting as there were not enough staff to help. Sometimes she waited for over an hour, soiled/wet. Not all staff were aware of mum's care needs & it was left to my dad to advocate for her. We often overheard staff complaining about colleagues. One member of staff couldn't do enough to help & came in early every day to wash and dress mum because he didn't trust the staff to do it. In some cases I think there was a genuine lack of concern from staff, but mainly there just weren't enough staff to keep residents safe & comfortable.

Reply from Samantha Debenham, Reviews Team at Foxbridge House

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback, and I am truly sorry to hear about the concerns you've raised regarding your mother’s care at Foxbridge House. We always aim to provide a high standard of care, and I'm sorry to hear that we fell short of your expectations on this occasion.

We appreciate your initial positive experience with the home, and I am particularly glad to hear that our Sales Manager made a good first impression. However, it’s disheartening to hear that once your parents moved in, the care provided did not meet the standard you were expecting. We take your concerns seriously and are committed to addressing the issues you've highlighted.

We are deeply sorry to hear about your concerns regarding staffing levels, communication, and the impact it had on your mother’s wellbeing. Ensuring that each resident receives timely and compassionate care is always our priority.

We are also concerned to hear about the complaints overheard among staff, as this does not align with the values we work hard to promote. We are dedicated to providing a supportive and professional environment for both residents and staff, and we apologise for any distress this may have caused you.

We would sincerely appreciate the opportunity to discuss this with you in more depth. If you feel comfortable, we encourage you to reach out to the Home Manager directly who would be happy to provide a detailed response to your concerns. Alternatively, you can reach out to us via complimentsandcomplaints@careuk.com to voice your concerns.?

Thank you again for bringing this to our attention. We want to assure you that we are committed to providing a high standard of care and nurturing a welcoming and supportive environment. Your input is greatly appreciated.

I have been given a very favourable report from my two daughters initial visit, whilst I was still in hospital abroad, but on arrival from Barbados into London Heathrow Airport, and subsequently and ambulance journey to Foxbridge, I was truly delighted with my new temporary "home". The whole design
of the building, its cleanliness, the two gardens, which I later could visit, not to mention all the smiling members of staff! Thank you all for caring fro me so well those 2 weeks.

Elizabeth Lodge

from R S (Daughter of Resident) published on 9 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

Mum came to Elizabeth Lodge after a 14-week hospital admission, and her previous care home was no longer able to meet her needs. I felt sure that Elizabeth Lodge was going to be a good fit for her but was still worried as her first experience of settling into the previous home had been very challenging
and distressing for her and the family. I need not have worried! Every single member of staff has gone above and beyond to ensure that mum has felt welcome, safe, secure and valued. They have taken their time to get to know her likes and dislikes, have asked for feedback from me and involved mum with the wonderful opportunities there are to interact with other residents and staff. I have honestly been blown away by this wonderful care home. It is such a warm, open and friendly place, and despite it being a little larger than I thought mum would like, it has a homely feel with a genuine and authentic person-centred and individual approach.
I hope mum will have many happy years here.

Charlotte House

from N M (Wife of Resident) published on 7 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 3.0 out of 5

My husband was not shaved, his hair was greasy, not washed. I gave warning that I would pick him up at 1pm. I arrived at 2pm. Staff just packing his clothes. We had someone else's coat int he bag which I took back later, also medication which I picked up. It is a friendly place, but could be a lot better
in different areas. Staff are friendly. No one around when I left, I would have liked to talk with someone.

Reply from Management at Charlotte House

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. I’m very sorry to hear about the experience yourself and your husband had during your recent visit to Charlotte House. We genuinely appreciate your kind words about our friendly staff, but we also recognise that there are always areas in which we can improve.

Firstly, I would like to apologise in regard to your husband's personal care. We take pride in providing our residents with a high standard of personal hygiene and grooming, and I'm sorry to hear that this has not met your expectations during your last visit to Charlotte House.

Regarding the mix-up with your husband's clothing and medication, I sincerely apologise for the confusion. We understand how important it is for personal belongings to be properly managed, and we will be reviewing our procedures to avoid any future issues with residents' personal items.

Please accept my apologies that you were unable to find a member of staff to speak with before you left the home. We strive to provide a seamless and supportive experience for both our residents and their families, and on this occasion our staff were working hard to support other residents and are extremely apologetic that they missed you.

We truly value your input, and I want to assure you that we are committed to improving the areas you've highlighted. If you have any further concerns or would like to discuss your experience in more detail, please do not hesitate to reach out directly to the Home Manager who is always appreciative and receptive to any feedback.

Thank you again for bringing these matters to our attention. We look forward to continuing to improve and to providing a more positive experience for both you and your husband.

My mum has been living at Highbury New Park for nearly a year now and I want to say how happy I am with the decision we made as a family to move mum to this home. We honestly have no regrets. It is the staff team that make all the difference. They are absolutely amazing and I am forever grateful to
them. They are attentive and genuinely caring and they have taken time to get to know mum so well, her routines, how she likes to things to be done, including bath time and meal times, helping her choose her clothes for the day and many more decisions throughout the day. My mum is very happy with her new home - she tells me the staff look after like she is a baby ! I visit regularly and see that mum has made friends with the staff and other residents so when I leave I know she is good hands. Thank you to all the Team - you are all very special people.

Whitefarm Lodge

The care home has a genuine warmth about it from the staff and senior managers even down to the cleaners and workmen.
You feel reassured that the residents are being well looked after and treated as an individual.
The staff are welcoming and so helpful and always speak to the residents with care
and concern.
The Manager is visible and it's lovely to see him getting 'hands on' with some of the activities.
Activity in whatever form is vital to those even with dementia and it's good to see such a variety of activities
Having the decor refreshed and updated has helped tremendously too.
One suggestion, but appreciate it's difficult with ratios is either in summer more access to outside, or allowing their visitor to perhaps take people out in a wheelchair?

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughtful feedback. We are delighted to hear that you have had such a positive experience at Whitefarm Lodge and that you’ve noticed the warmth and care that our staff put into everything they do. It’s wonderful to know that both the staff and management have made you feel reassured about the care and wellbeing of the residents, and that you have seen the efforts we put into treating everyone as an individual.

We’re also pleased to hear such lovely feedback regarding the variety of activities we offer. Activity and engagement are vital, and we strive to provide a range of options that support the emotional, mental, and physical wellbeing of our residents. It’s great to know that you’ve seen our manager actively involved in these activities as well; we believe that hands-on leadership is important to building a strong, caring environment.

We also appreciate your feedback about outdoor access and taking residents out in a wheelchair, particularly during the summer months. We completely understand the importance of outdoor time, and we would like to assure you that residents have full access to the garden area at all times. Friends and/or relatives may ask staff to support them in taking residents outside if they require support or if they are unable to do so.

Thank you again for your kind words and valuable feedback. We are committed to continuous improvement, and your input helps us provide the best possible care for all residents.

Heavers Court Care Home is an exceptional care home. Very clean lovely decor. All staff very friendly and helpful at all times especially the Care Manager who goes out of her way to keep everyone informed of any developments regarding my Mothers stay at this lovely care home. Location is very good,
her room is of a very high standard and very well furnished. All communal areas are exceptional as well. Also we have had several family members and friends who also commented on the high standard of Heavers Court Care Home. Well done to everyone. And please pass on my thanks and regards as my Mum is very settled and very happy to be part of this excellent care home. From a devoted Son who lives in Herne Bay Kent.

Heavers Court

from Lesley N (Daughter of Resident) published on 1 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My experience is of my mother being very happy and content at Heavers Court Care Home. I see her engaging really well with all the other residents, including their relatives and staff. She thoroughly enjoys taking part in various activities, and tells me she likes the food and also likes her room. I
feel very reassured when I see her and I really appreciate the kindness and dignity she is treated with. Each visit I find her room clean and tidy. I am extremely happy with the communication I have with the Carers and Manager as I am kept updated about activities or any personal issues and it is easy for me to raise any issues or provide feedback. Heavers Court has a very friendly and calm atmosphere. Only negative feedback which I shared along with others at the most recent Relative's Meeting is unreliable access to the building at weekends when there's no one on reception, it can take too long to get access into the building

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your positive feedback. We are delighted to hear that your mother is happy and content at Heavers Court and that she enjoys engaging with fellow residents, staff, and taking part in the activities. It's wonderful to know that she is comfortable in her room and enjoys the meals we provide.

We truly appreciate your kind words about the high standards of care, kindness, and dignity that we strive to maintain at Care UK. We are also glad to hear that our communication with you has been helpful and that you feel reassured and well informed about your mother’s wellbeing.

Thank you for sharing the concern regarding access to the building during weekends. We absolutely understand how important it is for families to have easy access, and we will be looking into improving the reception arrangements to ensure that everyone can enter the building without unnecessary delays. Your feedback is incredibly valuable to us, and we are committed to making any necessary improvements.

We are grateful for your continued trust and support, and we are so glad that you and your mother has had a positive experience with us at Heaver Court. Should you have any further concerns or suggestions, please do not hesitate to reach out directly to the Home Manager who would be more than happy to assist you.

Sherwood Grange

Thanks to the team at Sherwood Grange for making my Dad's Respite Care stay with them so smooth. This is the second time we have used this temporary service to give my mum a well-earned rest. It's been a really simple experience with lots of kind and attentive carers who make us all feel at ease and
ensure the approach is tailored to us. We would really recommend this to anyone looking for short-term, high-quality care for an elderly loved one when the time comes.

Whitefarm Lodge was unknown to the family until my mother was moved there from hospital. It seems to meet all the requirements my mother needs because of her mobility and dementia issues. Although it is quite large the fact that residents are divided up into small groups is a big plus.
Every member
of staff is wonderful and very helpful.
The family are very happy with the move from hospital and it is likely to be a long term colusion
