The genuine care and professional manner to which both my aunt and uncle have received since both became residents has been impeccable. There is a wonderful home feel. A sense of belonging that not only residents are given but the relatives and friends too. Nothing asked is ever responded to as a chore,
but with a really supportive and determined person whoever that person is, to help and make things better. This place, the staff, with the best chance of happiness!

We have found Foxland Grange to be a very welcoming place. The staff are always extremely friendly and are pleased with the care that mum is receiving here. It is lovely to be able to spend quality time with mum in the bistro over a cup of coffee. We are so glad that mum is living somewhere safe and
clean with a happy atmosphere in pleasant surroundings.

Totally dissatisfied experience. On attendance to the home all things were good. Once arrived inside the home we experienced a resident defecating in my uncle's room. No staff were about and we had to raise concerns with the carers who finally appeared some minutes later. Human excrement was smeared
all over the entrance to 22, the room my uncle is in and the resident was covered in excrement. Not a good experience. My uncle's personal space and dignity were breached and insulted, and it left us very unhappy.

Reply from Samantha Debenham, Reviews Team at Edgbaston Manor

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at Edgbaston Manor. We are genuinely sorry to hear about the distressing situation you encountered during your visit. Please accept our sincerest apologies for the negative experience you and your uncle faced. We understand the seriousness of your concerns. The situation you described is certainly not the standard of care that we aim to provide at Care UK. We also regret that it took longer than expected to find staff to respond to the situation, which only added to your frustration and distress, but I understand the staff acted immediately upon recognition of your concerns to rectify this. If you would like to discuss this matter further, we would certainly encourage you to contact complimentsandcomplaints@careuk.com so we can investigate this in more depth. Best wishes.

My husband had heart failure and I was caring for him at home. When I was suddenly taken into hospital my relatives had to find immediate care for him. A friend recommended Bishops Manor and they accepted him straight away, even though I was in hospital and could not attend to the finances. The
care was excellent and he soon got to know the dedicated team of carers. When I was able to visit to sort things out it was wonderful to find a caring attitude towards me as well. He was only there for a few weeks but could not have ended his days in a finer place. Thank you

We attended the dementia cafe organised by the staff at Foxland Grange. The event was extremely informative and created a safe place for us to discuss a variety of subjects that related to our experiences with dementia. We learnt so very much from the talk given by Alzheimer's Society and the shared
stories shared by other attendees. Very grateful for this opportunity to attend and participate.

Reply from Jazz Lalli, Home Manager at Foxland Grange

Thank you for your lovely feedback about the dementia cafe. It is a fantastic way to help families and friends with loved ones here at Foxland Grange and the local community too. We will continue to hold these sessions as they have proved to be very successful. Thank you and we look forward to welcoming you to many more sessions to come.

My Mom was discharged from hospital after a fall and was not well enough or capable to go home.

It was a very distressing time for the whole family.

The team at Bishop's Manor have been superb, from my first phone call with a member of staff we were reassured and we could "breathe again".

Upon

arrival my Mom could not stand, she had a mouth full of ulcers and was exhausted.

After 4 weeks of love, exceptional care, excellent food and entertainment my Mom was able to walk to the car and return home.

There are no words to adequately convey our gratitude; thank you just isn't enough.

Thank you to the whole team; you are very special people whose help and professionalism will not be forgotten.

When the time came for my father to move to a residential care home, we looked at several in the local area. Bishops Manor stood out for several reasons. On our first visit, we got the clear impression of a professionally run, vibrant, happy and active home with excellent individual resident centered
care. We decided on the spot that this place was an ideal fit for Dad. He has now been at Bishops Manor for just over a month and our initial impression of the home has been confirmed and enhanced. The dedicated nursing and care team have helped him integrate well into the daily routine of the home. Moving from living independently to a care home could be difficult, but the staff have helped Dad cope with this change with huge kindness and consideration - we can't praise them enough. They were quickly on first name terms with my father and the team have demonstrated that Bishops Manor has a deep-seated care ethic that extends to everyone in the home. It really is a caring home.

My friend is very comfortable in this care home. She tells me how helpful three particular members of staff are. She loves the food especially the sausage baps. Reception staff always give visitors a really good welcome and are very happy to talk a little before you leave. Fantastic!

My mother is a new resident to Foxland Grange - not yet three weeks. Our guidance and support during the exploratory and pre-resident stays was outstanding, all questions answered and reassurance in abundance. Mum was leaving her home of 61 years where I was heavily included in her care. The 'move-in'
was smooth (and emotional). My mother has very poor vision so getting used to new routines and environment has been challenging - it is still early days. The staff have been supportive, the environment warm and welcoming. As a relative I have been made welcome and been encouraged to be involved with my mother's care as we would both wish. We continue to learn about the new lifestyle as the team continue to learn about us!

Metchley Manor

from Kathleen C (Respite Resident) published on 20 January 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

9th January, 2025.
I have just returned home following a respite care stay at Methchley Manor and I would like to express my deepest gratitude for the outstanding care, support and warm friendship which I received from everyone, led by the admissions advisor.
In our communications, I found the admissions
advisor a wonderfully sensitive, caring, attentive, generous, wise and committed person with a welcoming smile and a gentleness of spirit as well as a true professional working for the good of all. And I think her values define the environment which I found to be one of a harmonious working together. Also, I found the general approach very enlightened, in that while every support is on hand, residents are also encouraged to be independent, as and when they can, this promotes a sense of respect and freedom. So, I would like to express my deep gratitude to the admissions advisor and to each person for their care and warm friendship.

Reply from Cavell Farnell, Home Manager at Metchley Manor

Thank you so much for sharing such a heartfelt review of your respite stay at Metchley Manor. We are absolutely thrilled to hear how much you appreciated the care, support, and warm environment we strive to provide.
It's wonderful to know that our professionalism and kindness left such a positive impression and that you felt both supported and encouraged in your independence. Your recognition of our approach truly means the world to us.
We are so pleased your stay helped you feel better, and it was our absolute privilege to care for you. Should you ever wish to return, please know that you'll always have a warm welcome here at Metchley Manor. With sincere appreciation.

Mercia Grange

from A B (Daughter of Resident) published on 20 December 2024
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My 99-year-old father moved into Mercia Grange 3 months ago and we've been very pleased. The care is very professional and personal, and we know that he is safe and being well looked after. The home is light and airy, very clean and tidy and feels more like a hotel than a care home - a feeling helped
by the lovely meals and the amazing coffee and cakes provided in the coffee lounge. There are lots of activities available with plenty of variety and Dad chooses to go to something almost every morning and afternoon. He is very happy and content, and everyone who sees him, or sees a photo of him, says how well he looks. We really feel that we couldn't have chosen a better place for Dad to be looked after, and what makes it even more special is the team of staff. Everyone, without exception, is so happy, helpful and attentive to Dad and his needs, and their smiling faces brighten his day, and ours, whenever we visit. Thank you to everyone.

We needed as a family to try and get my parents in the same room. As one has dementia, it causes heartache and difficulties. The home bent over backwards to make the arrangement for this to happen.

All of the staff we met when we came to sort out the resident's belonging after he sadly passed away were so supportive and helpful. They make a very difficult task easier to manage especially the reception staff. It was very clear that all of the staff knew him well, and had really cared for him. Certainly
in conversation he was always very complimentary about everyone who helped care for him.

My father was incredibly well looked after during his time at Edgbaston Manor and upon his passing the staff have been outstanding, showing the utmost care and empathy with the situation. I am very grateful for the support that the staff have given to me whilst sorting out his affairs and belongings,
they have made the process as painless as possible and been so understanding. The receptionists that have greeted me have been very welcoming and made sure that all my needs were catered for. I would definitely recommend Edgbaston manor to anyone looking for a residential home, you'll be in great hands.

A big "thank you" to all the team for an amazing birthday celebration with Mom and her friends. Your combined teamwork, care and attention to detail made it a very special day. My mom loved the day and feedback from those who were there thought it was amazing.
I realise that there was a lot of extra
effort from many behind the scenes and some that pulled out all the stops to help out, such as the receptionist, the chef and another member of staff, so thank you and everyone else for making it a wonderful day. Please pass this on to anyone involved in helping make the day special.
