My father has been at Ayton House for 2 1/2 months now and was one of the first residents. It was a big change for him and we were nervous how he would settle in but overall we're happy that he's settled in well. The main thing is that he's well looked after and is happy and at Ayton House, he is.

My sister has a profound learning disability and finding the best possible care has been challenging. I need not have worried as I found Chichester Grange! My sister has settled very well and all her needs are met and care exceeded. Thankfully she has settled well and all the staff are so friendly and
welcoming. She is very happy in her new surroundings and for someone who has always lived at home with parents, this is high praised indeed.

Can't praise Ayton House enough. Facilities, staff, atmosphere, level of care and attention to detail are all exemplary. My mother was not so keen on going into a care home but Ayton House went out of their way to facilitate this difficult move and Mum is now well settled and very happy.

Reply from Caroline Thomas, Home Manager at Ayton House

Thank you so much for your lovely review and we are happy that mum is settled at Ayton House and that you found the admission process smooth and stress free. We strive to provide the very best service in all areas and we are gratefull that you commend us on this.

Darlington Court

from Paul O (Brother of Resident) published on 17 March 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5

My brother has been a resident at Darlington for three months now and feels very settled and mostly happy. The staff are very patient and caring even to the extent of doing 'too much' instead of encouraging him to do things for himself.
I agree that sometimes the help button takes a while to be answered
but this is usually due to the staff attending other residents or busy in other areas.
The staff have been very good at managing my brother's medication and always available to answer our questions about his health.
The food is good and plentiful!

Reply from Samantha Debenham, Reviews Team at Darlington Court

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We are so glad to hear that your brother has settled well to Darlington Court and is happy in the home. It’s wonderful to know that you’re pleased with the patience and care our staff provide.

We truly appreciate your observation regarding the balance between assisting your brother and encouraging independence. We will take this into account and ensure that our team continues to support residents in a way that fosters both comfort and autonomy.

Regarding the help button, we understand your concerns and apologise for any delays in response. Our team is always working hard to meet the needs of all residents, but we will continue to look at ways to improve our response times, particularly during busy periods.

We’re also pleased to hear that you’re satisfied with the management of your brother’s medication and the food provided. If you ever have any further questions or suggestions, please do not hesitate to reach out to us at complimentsandcomplaints@careuk.com

Thank you again for your valuable feedback. We’ll continue to work hard to provide the best possible care for your brother and all residents.

Excellent facility more like a luxury hotel than a care home. Have nothing but praise for the staff, all of whom are friendly, caring and professional. Mum has settled down, made friends and feels safe and sound there. Would highly recommend Ayton House to anyone looking for a care home.

Ayton House

In our search for a care home for my mother, we looked for a place that would provide her with a safe, comfortable and secure environment, where she would be treated with dignity and respect and where the level of care and support was of a high standard. In all these respects, Ayton House easily meets
with our criteria. In addition, the cleanliness of her new home and the quality of food are of a very high standard and many activities are provided to keep all the residents engaged and entertained. Finally, we have found the staff and management to be very understanding and supportive of many of the areas where we needed advice.
To sum up, we are very happy for my mother to be a resident of Ayton House because we believe that she is receiving the best care possible. Well done to all.

I live a long way away from my aunt and wouldn't have felt able to leave her if we hadn't found Ayton House with it's excellent care and lovely environment when she suddenly needed it.
The atmosphere is more like that of a hotel, there are even fabric napkins in the dining room! The facilities are
well thought through and the activities are well planned and varied.
The personal care has been amazing and my aunt is gaining in strength and confidence all the time thanks to the devoted staff.
The communication is excellent. We can see what my aunt has been doing by checking the app and Ayton House calls me with any concerns.

Reply from Caroline Thomas, Home Manager at Ayton House

Thank you so much for your lovely review. We are pleased to provide person-centered care and that you use our relish app to view your aunt's interactions in the home. Communication is key in the home and with the launch of our newsletter I hope you can further see the fun things she gets up to.

Skylark House

from Caroline B (Niece of Resident) published on 4 March 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My auntie went into Skylark House just under 3 years ago and her care has been amazing. The activities they do are great with something every day. Everyone is encouraged and the activities are fun and adapted to suit all. Skylark became my auntie's extended family and ours too. We loved visiting -
the coffee shop is a lovely seating area to have coffee and cake with your loved one. From reception to office to care staff - everyone is so welcoming.
Sadly my auntie has just passed away after a diagnoses of an aggressive cancer and her end of life palliative care was so reassuring for us. She was kept pain free and passed peacefully. The staff kept her as cheerful as they could and made sure all her needs were met every second of the day. When I visited they took care of my needs too making sure I was ok and offering me that much needed support.
I recommend Skylark to anyone who needs to place an elderly relative into a care provider. They will definitely have an enhanced life, full of fun and can make such great new friendships. The rooms are bright and airy with en-suite facilities. The home has lovely sunny secure balconies on each floor for residents to sit out and enjoy the views of the garden. The well maintained garden is beautiful and they have events for all residents and their families, for example, summer parties and barbecues. The residents can take walks with staff or family around the garden on the safe paths. Lovely seating areas dotted around can be enjoyed in summer months.
An excellent care home comes highly recommended by my auntie and her family.
Thank you for everything especially to the team on the Nursing floor.

3 Months ago I entered Skylark House after a life-changing fall. I was met with tender care and concern by the staff. My hobby is painting, however, when my son died in 2023 I seemed unable to do it anymore. The incredible activities team have encouraged me to pick up a paintbrush again. I now paint
portraits and I have a challenge and purpose each day. Walking back to my room the other day a resident collapsed, I called and within seconds staff and nurses came from every direction. She was given immediate treatment and is fine. The last 2 examples show the extent of Skylark's care.

Dad has been made very welcome by the friendly staff. The facilities are tastefully designed, it's like a 5-star hotel. He likes that he is able to have his meals at times that suit him if he's not feeling hungry at their usual mealtimes.

The first week is overwhelming with questions, questions, questions! Necessary but too many all at once. The wash basin in the shower room is ridiculously small. Security is excellent but feels more like a prison. Overall atmosphere is warm, welcoming and caring. The food is excellent, made to suit
individual tastes and needs.

Reply from Samantha Debenham, Reviews Team at Ayton House

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback for Ayton House and for making us aware of your concerns. We understand it can be an overwhelming experience when moving into a care home taking in the information about the home and being asked a lot of questions. Please be assured the questions enable us to best understand any of the resident's care needs so we can create person-centred care plans tailored to each individual. However, we can appreciate this may feel too overwhelming to start with. Please be assured that this feedback has been fed back to the Home Manager and Senior Management for review. I would also like to take the time to thank you for your kind feedback on the atmosphere of the home and the food quality. I am pleased to read you find it warm. I wish you all the best.

A lovely care home, with nice staff, mostly, I think the food is very good, but possibly needs more suitability for those who struggle to feed themselves. Clean, very well presented. Adequate parking for visitors, good reception staff and managers. Nice carers and kept well informed. One point is the
lack of ability to contact easily when reception is not manned. Needs more staff.

My relative only came into Skylark this Autumn. I cannot share enough how wonderful they have all been to her and our family. We've been made to feel like part of a very happy and warm little community. The Christmas season has been nothing short of magical, including the delicious family Xmas meal
that we were invited to. Even when my relative was taken to hospital for a short while, she was welcomed back with such genuine affection and support. This care home was an amazing find and my relative has found fun and happiness in her life again!

I have visited a number of times since my granddad moved in at the start of this year, including several times in December.

Staff are friendly and always

Skylark House has been an amazing care home for my dad.
They have looked after him with great care and support.
I feel he has enjoyed his time there with great entertainment put on for the residents on a regular basis.
He eats well, good food they serve there.
The tea room is a nice place to
take my dad when we go and see him.
They also have a fantastic garden which gives us the chance to take him outside when we like to.
I would recommend Skylark to my family and friends

Mum has become a new woman since moving into Ayton House, happy, smiling, giggling even. She loves it, especially the way the staff include her in daily chores which makes her feel useful. We are very impressed with the number and range of activities Mum gets involved with and with the level of care
and attention paid to her. It is early days as we try to convert 'Respite' into a permanent residency but we could not have found a nicer place for her to go at short notice and we hope she is able to stay for a long time.
