Darlington Court

from Phil H (Son of Resident) published on 14 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5

My mother-law has been resident at Darlington court for six months. I have found that everyone there has always been very helpful and kind and the carers go above and beyond to look after residents. I have noticed that in some of the reviews some people have mentioned the delay in responding to the
help button, I must say that I agree and this is one of the few negatives that I have about Darlington court. I must say that the way they help residents to get involved every day with activities is amazing. The only other small negative is that my mother-in-law has complained about was that the meals were sometimes cold.

Reply from Samantha Debenham, Reviews Team at Darlington Court

Thank you so much for your kind words and thoughtful feedback. We’re truly grateful that you’ve taken the time to share your experience of Darlington Court.

Ayton House is a special place. Being brand new and purpose built, the facilities are of course excellent, but it is the qualities of the special people there that elvates it. Not just my father but our whole family have been embraced and cared for with professionalism, courtesy, respect and extreme
kindness. We were so supported in navigating the practical and emotional course of Dad's changing needs during his stay. We were always kept informed and given so much helpful information. We were also enabled to relinquish the roles of carers to spend precious time just as family, enjoying the day to day life and activities. Because of the exceptional tender loving care Dad was receiving, we could come away each day with confidence, as were leaving him with those who became extended family. Our experience has been that Ayton House is full of people who care about why they are there, who go above and beyond the call of duty, with every department contributing. The result is excellence and we are very grateful.

I am so grateful to Darlington Court for taking mum in and giving her some much needed respite after a horrible time in hospital. The staff have all been so kind, friendly and professional. The facilities and activities are excellent and it is a lovely environment. At a time when our world has been
turned upside down due to mum's sudden deterioration, Darlington Court have provided much-needed support, comfort and reassurance.

My wife has been at Darlington Court since November 2024. She fractured her hip in August 2024 and although she was operated on she hasn't recovered her ability to walk safely, this combined with her mental health meant that I was no longer able to look after her at home. After looking at a number of
care homes I decided on Darlington Court as they could best meet her needs.
Since she has been there I have realised that she is much safer and better looked after than anywhere else. The staff are excellent, wherever their roles, they are welcoming and professional, caring and supportive of both my wife and myself. I try to go in every day and each time I receive an update on my wife's situation.
The food that is served is of an excellent quality and, if it is lunchtime, I'm always offered some. When not eating or sleeping there are daily activities and the staff make great efforts to help and encourage the residents to take part and enjoy all aspects of life. All in all a super place.

I am reviewing Darlington Court after my mum's two week respite stay. All staff appeared to be very caring and tried to involve the residents in all the many activities they put on. I would particularly mention three members of staff who I often saw on my visits into the home and who really tried to
engage mum and others. Tea, coffee and cake seemed plentiful and mum told me the meals were very good. Mum's needs seemed to be accommodated and I know she was popped in the TV room to watch her favourite game show daily. This was mum's first ever stay and all my fears disappeared on my first visit, when I saw mum smiling with the other residents. The home has recently undergone redecoration and looked bright and inviting and I wouldn't have any hesitation in recommending a visit by those thinking about using Darlington's services.

Had a lovely visit to see my very dear friend! Great to have the Cafe Shop for a coffee with my friend - all staff made me feel very welcome! Lovely Lady playing the harp which was is nice to hear and made everything feel very relaxed! The 'Happy Hairdresser' was chatting kindly to the residents and
she individually did their hair! Can't think of a nicer place to be if you have to be in Care Home. Nice lot of activities for residents too.

Ayton House is a lovely home. All of the décor is to a high standard and tastefully and thoughtfully done. The corridors are like an art gallery with pictures that would be of interest and stimulate memories for residents. There are many social areas which provide spaces to be enjoyed privately with
visitors, or communally. The staff are professional, friendly, caring and respectful. We have been very impressed with Ayton and are glad that Father-in-law is able to be safe, comfortable and happy in his new home.

My mother has been at Skylark House for the past 5 months. She has a lovely big room with windows out to a patio. She loves the food and I enjoy helping her eat it as well when I visit. The care staff have been lovely and are always available when needed e.g. to put her into her wheelchair for a trip
to the cafe or garden (she is mainly bedbound as she has no mobility by herself).
There are always activities going on which my Mum attends when she feels like it, and she has room visits for things like hand massages, or carers just dropping in for a chat.
The medical set-up is great. There is a lot of attention to her medical condition and she has a lot of contact with the local GP organised by Skylark, and they keep me up to date with it all.
It's a very relaxed feeling in the home, and welcoming to relatives who visit. Very clean and always tidy.

My 99 year old father has recently moved into Ayton house after looking after himself at home. It is a very stressful time to move into a care home. All the staff at Ayton house have been so welcoming and kind to my father. As a result he is settling in very well. I can thoroughly recommend Ayton house.
On top of that the restaurant is fantastic with a very high quality menu.

Mill View has provided excellent care to my mother since she arrived last April. The care and support she has received has been second to none and it has given me, my father and the rest of our family, peace of mind in the knowledge that my mother is comfortable, safe and happy. The staff, at all levels,
are fun loving whilst displaying a very high degree of professionalism and a full understanding of what excellent caring and safeguarding really look like. During my frequent visits to my mother, I regularly see staff show empathy to the residents, recognising their different needs and often going the extra mile to make a difference to the residents' experience in Mill View. I can't recommend Mill View enough!

Ayton House

from Adrian O (Son of Resident) published on 20 March 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My elderly father decided to move into Ayton House to recover from the flu, which had required hospitalisation. Initially meant as a trial, he has remained in Aython House as he recognises that although he could manage at home with support, having all his meals prepared, and all his laundry done for
him was a relief.
Now we know he is always safe, as staff check on him hourly, as before Ayton, we had to contact him daily.
He is enjoying his room, especially the patio outside his room, which he can sit in every sunny morning to read his newspapers, which are delivered daily. He is still able to enjoy watching cycling and skiing via his Skybox.
His twice daily ritual of walking to the cafe to get an espresso coffee and the weekly group exercises is giving him a new lease of life by rebuilding his strength and fitness.
The facilities at Ayton House are impressive, with multiple smaller dining rooms and lounges in each section and large common areas for group activities.

My sister has a profound learning disability and finding the best possible care has been challenging. I need not have worried as I found Chichester Grange! My sister has settled very well and all her needs are met and care exceeded. Thankfully she has settled well and all the staff are so friendly and

Darlington Court

from Paul O (Brother of Resident) published on 17 March 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5

My brother has been a resident at Darlington for three months now and feels very settled and mostly happy. The staff are very patient and caring even to the extent of doing 'too much' instead of encouraging him to do things for himself.
I agree that sometimes the help button takes a while to be answered
but this is usually due to the staff attending other residents or busy in other areas.
The staff have been very good at managing my brother's medication and always available to answer our questions about his health.
The food is good and plentiful!

Reply from Samantha Debenham, Reviews Team at Darlington Court

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We are so glad to hear that your brother has settled well to Darlington Court and is happy in the home. It’s wonderful to know that you’re pleased with the patience and care our staff provide.

We truly appreciate your observation regarding the balance between assisting your brother and encouraging independence. We will take this into account and ensure that our team continues to support residents in a way that fosters both comfort and autonomy.

Regarding the help button, we understand your concerns and apologise for any delays in response. Our team is always working hard to meet the needs of all residents, but we will continue to look at ways to improve our response times, particularly during busy periods.

We’re also pleased to hear that you’re satisfied with the management of your brother’s medication and the food provided. If you ever have any further questions or suggestions, please do not hesitate to reach out to us at complimentsandcomplaints@careuk.com

Thank you again for your valuable feedback. We’ll continue to work hard to provide the best possible care for your brother and all residents.

In our search for a care home for my mother, we looked for a place that would provide her with a safe, comfortable and secure environment, where she would be treated with dignity and respect and where the level of care and support was of a high standard. In all these respects, Ayton House easily meets
with our criteria. In addition, the cleanliness of her new home and the quality of food are of a very high standard and many activities are provided to keep all the residents engaged and entertained. Finally, we have found the staff and management to be very understanding and supportive of many of the areas where we needed advice.
To sum up, we are very happy for my mother to be a resident of Ayton House because we believe that she is receiving the best care possible. Well done to all.

I live a long way away from my aunt and wouldn't have felt able to leave her if we hadn't found Ayton House with it's excellent care and lovely environment when she suddenly needed it.
The atmosphere is more like that of a hotel, there are even fabric napkins in the dining room! The facilities are
well thought through and the activities are well planned and varied.
The personal care has been amazing and my aunt is gaining in strength and confidence all the time thanks to the devoted staff.
The communication is excellent. We can see what my aunt has been doing by checking the app and Ayton House calls me with any concerns.
