Darlington Court

from Phil H (Son of Resident) published on 14 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5

My mother-law has been resident at Darlington court for six months. I have found that everyone there has always been very helpful and kind and the carers go above and beyond to look after residents. I have noticed that in some of the reviews some people have mentioned the delay in responding to the
help button, I must say that I agree and this is one of the few negatives that I have about Darlington court. I must say that the way they help residents to get involved every day with activities is amazing. The only other small negative is that my mother-in-law has complained about was that the meals were sometimes cold.

Reply from Samantha Debenham, Reviews Team at Darlington Court

Thank you so much for your kind words and thoughtful feedback. We’re truly grateful that you’ve taken the time to share your experience of Darlington Court.

We’re delighted to hear that our team has made a positive impression and that your mother-in-law feels supported and involved in daily life here. Creating a warm, engaging, and caring environment for all residents is at the heart of what we do, and we’re glad that’s been reflected in your experience.

We also appreciate you raising the concerns regarding call bell response times and meal temperatures. We take feedback like this seriously and are continuously working to improve. In response to these points, we’ve been reviewing our internal processes to enhance the dining experience and reduce response times, ensuring residents receive timely and high-quality support throughout the day.

Your feedback plays an important role in helping us to continue delivering a high standard of care, and we’re always open to suggestions that help us do even better.

Thank you again for your support and for choosing Darlington Court.

Harcourt Gardens

from M B (Friend of Resident) published on 14 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 2.0 out of 5

I have visited twice in the past 3 weeks and both times there were no guest passes to get to my friends bedroom, we had to wait for a member of staff to escort us rather like in prison when sent as a magistrate.
The care provided does not seem to be at the same high standard as when she first went
in under the Harcourt management team. I hope it improves.

Reply from Samantha Debenham, Reviews Team at Harcourt Gardens

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback regarding Harcourt Gardens. We're truly sorry to hear that this has been your experience and apologise for any inconvenience caused during your visits. We understand how important it is for friends and family to feel welcome and at ease when visiting their loved ones.

Your concerns about the lack of guest passes and the feeling of restricted access are taken seriously. This is certainly not the experience we want to provide at Harcourt Gardens. We also note your comments regarding the standard of care and the changes you’ve observed in the home. Please be assured that maintaining high quality care remains our top priority, and our team are dedicated to constantly developing and improving their skills to ensure they are providing the best care for all residents.

Thank you again for bringing this to our attention. If you would be open to discussing your concerns further, we would politely encourage you to contact the Home Manager directly, who would be happy to listen to and address your concerns efficiently and effectively.

We value your input and are committed to ensuring a positive experience for all residents and their visitors.

Seacroft Green

from Gill G (Cousin of Resident) published on 14 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

Our relative who was 81 had been a resident in Seacroft for over 2 years, He suffered with several heath issues, and mental and mobility issues, he could be uncooperative at times, however the care compassionate acceptance was excellent. He had a recent stay in hospital being very poorly it was decided
to discharge him back to the home for end of life care.
All the staff have always been excellent, nothing too much trouble, even though they were very busy, and his care was second to none in his last few weeks. He died peacefully with dignity. With two members of staff caring for him. they were fantastic
We are his only relatives and were in Australia with circumstances beyond our control to return home, however your manager was incredibly helpful and has assisted us with formalities we could not do, absolute god send , and staff on reception excellent.we would recommend this care home every single time, it's perfect. Thank you each and every one of you amazing,

My wife has been a resident in the secure accommodation for nearly 5 years. I have nothing but praise and admiration for the work that the staff do. In 5 years there has only been one hiccup which was swiftly dealt with.
The ambience, food and facilities are excellent. IT's expensive but the extra
cost over the other other facilities available in the area is , if it can be afforded , well worth while.

Review of

Dashwood Manor

from S P (Daughter of Resident) published on 14 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5

Overall, we are pleased with Mums care. Sometimes Mum has her day clothes over her pyjamas, perhaps she can be encouraged to take her pyjamas off. Also, a dead plant stayed in mums room for some time, I was surprised it hadn't been taken away. When Mum runs out of toothpaste and shower gel we do replace
when asked. But I am surprised basics are not included and spare supplies aren't kept on site for the use of. It's a good job we are local so can replenish these for her. Also, it is a shame that Mums personal items go missing. Clothes and jewellery, she is still missing her Radley watch.

Reply from Samantha Debenham, Reviews Team at Dashwood Manor

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback regarding Dashwood Manor with us. We're very pleased to hear that overall, you are satisfied with the care provided for your mother.

We acknowledge your concerns in regard to clothing, toiletries, your mother's room, and her personal belongings. We are sorry to hear that we have not met your expectations in these areas. We would like to assure you that our team are dedicated to constantly improving upon the outstanding care that they provide and feedback such as yours is especially beneficial for our development. We are immensely grateful for your input.

We would appreciate the opportunity to work alongside you to address these concerns promptly. If you are comfortable, we would politely encourage you to reach out to the Home Manager directly who will be happy to listen to and address your concerns effectively and efficiently.

Your feedback is invaluable in helping us improve, and we sincerely appreciate your ongoing support. Thank you again for taking the time to share your experience.

My sister and I are so pleased to have found Seccombe Court for our mother. It is such a kind, and caring place. The atmosphere is so homely and welcoming and has made the difficult situation of having a parent with dementia so much easier to bare. Thank you to all the amazing carers who treat mum
with such gentle compassion.

My involvement with Highmarket House has been ongoing since 2019 when my mother was a resident. Nowadays it's to do with a past neighbour. We visited numerous care homes as a voluntary driver so feel confident in assessing Highmarket as one of the better homes. Staff are helpful and caring and management
are always ready to listen and advise if needed.

Lauder Lodge

from Sandra R (Niece of Resident) published on 14 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5

My Aunt has settled well into Lauder Lodge. Her room is bright and looks out onto the secure garden where she likes to watch the birds & see the flowers come to life. All the staff are very helpful, caring, and very friendly both to my Aunt and her visitors. The staff keep in contact if she has had
a fall, had an appointment with the dentist or seen the nurse. There are a variety of activities planned each day which the residents can pick to join in. The music activities always seem to be very popular.
The only comment that my Aunt has is that the menu could be more varied. Recently the dinner menu was either curry or spicy bean burger but no plain option, for anyone who isn't good with spicy food.

Cranford Grange

from Diane M (Wife of Resident) published on 14 April 2025

I had to make the very difficult decision where to place my husband for end of life care .
He was in hospital for 6 weeks after discovering he had a brain tumour and then moved to Cranford Grange . The care and kindness he received at Cranford Grange was beyond expectation. He was treated with respect
by all staff . They went above and beyond to make sure he was comfortable and cared for . They also supported us through the last days of his life . For which we were very grateful.
The home is run professionally and all the residents seem very content .
I would highly recommend Cranford Grange .

Review of

Foxbridge House

from Catherine P (Daughter of Resident) published on 14 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 2.0 out of 5

First impressions were good when viewing, we found the home clean, warm & welcoming. The sales manager, in particular was kind & knowledgeable. However, once my parents moved in it became quickly apparent that there were not enough staff to meet mum's needs, Communication between staff was poor. Some
staff did not follow correct procedures, eg lifting & repositioning. Mum was not checked as frequently as we were told. Mum often asked for help with toileting but was left waiting as there were not enough staff to help. Sometimes she waited for over an hour, soiled/wet. Not all staff were aware of mum's care needs & it was left to my dad to advocate for her. We often overheard staff complaining about colleagues. One member of staff couldn't do enough to help & came in early every day to wash and dress mum because he didn't trust the staff to do it. In some cases I think there was a genuine lack of concern from staff, but mainly there just weren't enough staff to keep residents safe & comfortable.

Reply from Samantha Debenham, Reviews Team at Foxbridge House

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback, and I am truly sorry to hear about the concerns you've raised regarding your mother’s care at Foxbridge House. We always aim to provide a high standard of care, and I'm sorry to hear that we fell short of your expectations on this occasion.

We appreciate your initial positive experience with the home, and I am particularly glad to hear that our Sales Manager made a good first impression. However, it’s disheartening to hear that once your parents moved in, the care provided did not meet the standard you were expecting. We take your concerns seriously and are committed to addressing the issues you've highlighted.

We are deeply sorry to hear about your concerns regarding staffing levels, communication, and the impact it had on your mother’s wellbeing. Ensuring that each resident receives timely and compassionate care is always our priority.

We are also concerned to hear about the complaints overheard among staff, as this does not align with the values we work hard to promote. We are dedicated to providing a supportive and professional environment for both residents and staff, and we apologise for any distress this may have caused you.

We would sincerely appreciate the opportunity to discuss this with you in more depth. If you feel comfortable, we encourage you to reach out to the Home Manager directly who would be happy to provide a detailed response to your concerns. Alternatively, you can reach out to us via complimentsandcomplaints@careuk.com to voice your concerns.?

Thank you again for bringing this to our attention. We want to assure you that we are committed to providing a high standard of care and nurturing a welcoming and supportive environment. Your input is greatly appreciated.

BRILLIANT - Staff and all the team have made 100% sure my Aunt has settled in and actually have improved her Physical and mental well being - she is back to my Aunt of 5 years ago.!! Nothing is too much trouble, They always have time for a smile and talk with her. In her words " the best thing i could
have done" after living alone for four years . They always keep the family fully informed and involved.

My mother in law has been in Collingwood Court for nearly 2 years now at first she was not keen on being in a care home but she has made new friends and seems a lot more at peace within herself. She now does activities and goes on days out with Joanne and all the staff I've met seem very nice. All the
family just celebrated Marion's 92nd birthday with a spread put on by the staff and special thanks goes out to Joanne

Ayton House

from J D (Daughter of Resident) published on 11 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

Ayton House is a special place. Being brand new and purpose built, the facilities are of course excellent, but it is the qualities of the special people there that elvates it. Not just my father but our whole family have been embraced and cared for with professionalism, courtesy, respect and extreme
kindness. We were so supported in navigating the practical and emotional course of Dad's changing needs during his stay. We were always kept informed and given so much helpful information. We were also enabled to relinquish the roles of carers to spend precious time just as family, enjoying the day to day life and activities. Because of the exceptional tender loving care Dad was receiving, we could come away each day with confidence, as were leaving him with those who became extended family. Our experience has been that Ayton House is full of people who care about why they are there, who go above and beyond the call of duty, with every department contributing. The result is excellence and we are very grateful.

My mam has been living at Ponteland Manor for 3 years now & I am happy with the care she receives,it's the little touches that make such a difference , staff making time to stop for a chat or showing an interest in her craftwork. The links to the community are great , even I enjoy the group trips to
the social club where it's nice to meet Mam's friends & have a coffee with them.Because of reduced mobility it's great that mam has access to a brilliant hairdresser & podiatrist.

My mother was recently discharged from hospital and there was no way that she could return to her Assisted Living flat . The process of moving Mum to Priors House went smoothly and not only Mum but the family were welcomed warmly by the staff. The staff here are outstanding and clearly take pride in
what they do - it shows!! Sadly mum is declining but there's no other place I'd rather she be than being looked after by this professional and dedicated team.
