Bilney Hall Care Home

from Becky G (Daughter of Resident) published on 29 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My mum moved into Bilney Hall in late February. It is a Care Home where the resident's come first. The manager and her staff are excellent and provide a friendly and welcoming environment along with understanding, care and compassion at all times to both residents and their relatives. The meals
are wholesome and good and the team cater for individual dietary needs. The rooms are clean and the laundry is always fresh and ironed. Residents are actively encouraged to take part in a variety of activities each week. The manager is an experienced, highly competent professional who is respected by all of her staff. I have total confidence of the management of mums future care needs.

Mum and Dad have been at Bilney since October 2023, they are together and being looked after, staff are always so kind and have time.
I have regular updates from the home on all issues, concerns.
Dad can be cantankerous at times over certain things (food in particular) and we are working through
the best way forward.
Mum although of course the dementia is progressing seems so happy, engaging with activities.
Thanks as ever

The staff at Bilney Hall are always warm and welcoming to visitors and take really good care of my mother, since she moved in she has flourished. As a relative it is lovely to feel confident that Bilney Hall does not just 'tick the boxes' to meet the minimum level of care (which we have had experience
of), they really take an interest in making residents as comfortable and happy as possible.

My Dad has Parkinsons and Dementia and was beginning to not cope at home with a carer, he moved into Bilney Hall just after Christmas, its not been easy for him or the staff there, but I think after an initial settling in period he is now accepting of Bilney being his home.
The staff in Bilney are
always very friendly and work so incredibly hard, dads needs can be hard to deal with at times, but the respect and care they have given him has been exceptional.
The Manager is always available to speak to about any concerns we have, she's always ready to help with a solution or just listen.
The home itself always smells fresh and welcoming, Dad really enjoys the food and he usually gets involved in the visits that the team plan whether that be Owls showcasing or a singalong.
I would be the first to recommend Bilney Hall, when it comes to care from the staff and the place feeling and looking like a home from home

My nan came to Bilney Hall for a short respite stay. During her time there she had a nice room with a view of the garden which she enjoyed doing some bird watching. She also enjoyed chatting to the other lovely residents and staff and participating in the activities during the day, especially the music.
Would 100% bring her back if needed, she and our family are very happy with the home and staff!

Mother became a resident of The Manor Care Home in March 2021. We were just coming out of COVID and things were a little strained due to staffing level. Things improved and we were more than happy with all the care our Mum was receiving. Mum always said the food was very good and the staff were very
attentive. Our Mum was 105 when she passed away.

I would in future consider having my own Dad here.

My father was treated with great care and respect at Walcot Hall. He was extremely happy there. He agreed to go to the Hall for 2 weeks respite care when he was discharged from hospital, but decided to stay as he was treated like a Lord!
We were treated very kindly by the staff too. We had lunch with
Dad several times, they were always quick to offer us a drink during the day when we visited. The home manager was very supportive when Dad died, we could not have asked for more. Thank you.

Moved mam to Olive House as concerned about level of care in previous home. So glad I did. Although only at Olive House for 7 months, she was treated with such love and respect. I really couldn't have asked for more. The management team and all the staff were amazing. Nothing too much trouble. As well
the physical support mam needed, the emotional support she received was excellent. Staff genuinely care about their residents, you can really see that. My only regret was I hadn't got mam there sooner. Mam sadly passed away after 6 days of end of care. The support she received as well myself and family, meant the world to me. I couldn't have got through the last few days with Mam without them. I don't really have the words to express how I feel about everyone at Olive House. How they dealt with mam after she passed, she looked beautiful. For them all to be there when mam was taken by the funeral home, meant so much. On behalf of Mam, myself and her grandsons.. thank you so very much xx

Walcot Hall Nursing Home

from E K (Friend of Resident) published on 3 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5

My friend came to Walcot Hall and stayed for 18 days of respite care. She came to you in a very weak state and prone to falls. This was after having been to hospital briefly and sent home but unfit to be left on her own. It wasn't until she returned home after her time with you that I realised how much
brighter and capable she had become. The manager spent considerable time getting her help twice daily but it soon became apparent she didn't need that help and it was brought to an end quite soon. Her time with you was hugely beneficial to her so thanks to everybody.

Reply from Connie Hughes, Home Manager at Walcot Hall Nursing Home

We are extremely happy to hear she is still doing so well, thank you so much for your kind words. I will share these with my team at Walcot Hall, please wish her well from all staff here - we hope she grows in strength to strength.
