Mum is more engaged both with activities and with us. She seems more aware of her surroundings and is enjoying having the company of the other residents and staff. She loves the activities and joins in as much as she is able to.

My father was in this care home from February 2024 until February 2025 when he sadly passed away. We have always been impressed with the original care staff however in the year of my dad was there, there have been three different managers. We found each swap over they never introduce themselves and
have become more and more unfriendly. It is such a shame that management lets down this home. The activity team work really hard and are always keeping the residents busy and have outside activities coming in and as I say the original caring staff have been amazing. However, since Christmas and the new manager everything seems to have changed, they have swapped the staff about. And we haven't been consulted about it with our father being ill and having dementia it was such a shame to have some staff he didn't recognise.
If you do go to this Home, please look into the pricing as we were being charged £200 a week more than another resident and £100 more than another!

Reply from Vera Moreira, General Manager at Manton Heights Care Centre & ABI Centre

Thank you for your comments about the care your father received we will certainly pass on your kind words to the team and we appreciate your comments about the activities team. I am sorry we haven't introduced the managers to the families in a more effective way we will certainly take that on board and address it in the future. In relations to fees many of our residents are on different rates as they all need different levels of care and support and we conduct assessments to identify appropriate levels of fees, I hope that explains the situation but if you did want to discuss anything further then please call me at the home. Best Wishes, Vera Moreira

I find the carers all so polite and kind to me. If I want to stop for dinner I can, the food is always very good. They are always so good to my partner. I would fully recommend them.

Carers always greet us by name which is personal to us. They actively ask us to stay for a meal. They call to check if care plan is satisfactory. Regular activities for entertainment and stimulation. My mum feels cared for and thinks the staff are kind and caring to her.

I find the staff/carers to be friendly and helpful, I also find as a daughter id a resident, staff to be friendly to me and caring attitude toward the residents and their wellbeing. It is very nice and enjoyable to join in the various activities with my mum at the care home and the other residents.
I
am very impressed with all the decor in my mum's room and especially the lounge and two dining areas. It would be nice to have a day trip with residents/staff/family as a future thought.

My Dad came to the ABI unit at Manton Heights Care Centre, Bedford from Luton hospital after suffering a stroke. The care that he received was outstanding by all the staff. The staff were very welcoming when we visited and kept us up-to-date with Dad's progress. We also noticed that the unit had a high
standard of cleanliness throughout. All the food was fresh on the day with a good selection.
Also, we felt with our many visits we had made new friends with the staff.
A big heartfelt thank you to all.

I can't thank Manton Heights ABI Unit enough for the fantastic care and support provided to my mum and our family during her time there. Mum's stroke left her particularly vulnerable and from the moment she arrived, we were welcomed with warmth, kindness and compassion, we immediately knew she was going
to be in safe hands.
Mum was at the unit for a number of months with every member of the team always going above and beyond to make sure Mum felt comfortable, supported and well cared for in her recovery. I am forever grateful and would like to thank all the hard-working care, therapy, management, catering and supporting staff for looking after her so well and always going the extra mile.
You truly are a wonderful, lovely and amazing bunch, and the best rehabilitation unit we could have hoped for with excellent facilities, I couldn't have asked for more. It felt like family and we will miss you. Thank you again for all you have done and for your kindness and dedication throughout.

I visited my friend again last week and he seems very settled and happy, we talked a lot and also went in the lounge where the staff had a small Christmas concert going on, it was lovely to see residents smiling and singing along to the carols, the lady told me my friend had settled in well and took
part in activities, as usual, all the staff were lovely, I was offered tea and biscuits and even lunch, I couldn't fault anything!

I wanted to say a huge thank you to the activities team at the care centre who are fabulous. They put so much time and effort into supporting residents to participate in continued activities throughout the day. They organise so many experiences, such as animal visits, cooking, keep fit to mention a
few. Christmas they have so much going on to help residents celebrate. A huge thank you from my mum and her family.

Everything that was needed was available, such as different types of therapy. The accommodation was excellent, with its own spacious room and en-suite. There was also a wardrobe, drawers and TV. The staff were all lovely and helpful. They communicated well with me. There was a lovely dining room, with
delicious food. Meals could also be eaten in the bedrooms. It was also possible to make your own drinks.

My 91-year-old Dad was admitted to Manton Heights unit at the end of May 2024 for rehabilitation after a stroke in March 2024 whereby he had broken his foot and hand and required assistance to get back on his feet again and re-train his brain as he had become more confused than he used to be before
the stroke.
After 12 weeks of wonderful treatment and exercise at the unit and much caring love and assistance from all the team at Manton Heights he was finally able to return to his own home at the age of 92 and is now getting back to his routine in his own environment.
My Dad, Brother and I are forever grateful for the wonderful care that was given by all the teams at the unit and Dad grew very fond of all them as have I.
Dad managed to walk out of the Unit on the day we left and we are still very emotional when we think of all the teams and miss them and will return for a visit one day soon.
Thank you all so much for allowing us to have our Dad back.

On the day of my visit, it was my mum's birthday. The staff were so lovely to mum. They made a real fuss of her. the social staff hung a banner and balloons. The chef made her a beautiful cake and they all came in to sing Happy Birthday. Mum felt really special. I really can't fault the staff, they
all make a real effort with mum. This is lovely as I live abroad and don't visit often.

The unit was immediately friendly and welcoming. My mother went there straight from a hospital ward and it was so nice for her to have her own room with an en-suite and a beautiful view over the countryside through her window. The carers always looked after her so well and the therapists were brilliant
and enabled mum to improve really well with her impairments she suffered after her stroke. I would thoroughly recommend the ABI Unit needing support after a brain injury.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your positive experience with our ABI Unit. We are delighted to hear that your mother felt welcomed and comfortable in her new room and that the beautiful countryside view added to her sense of well-being.
