Been visiting here for about eighteen months and have never seen or heard anything to complain about. The rooms are kept very clean and tidy, with clothes always washed, ironed and hung up immaculately.
The staff are very friendly and helpful, in fact my friend who I visit sees the staff also as friends.
I personally would say the home is more like a hotel, which says it all really.

My father was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and dementia. We chose Park View for him because of it's calm atmosphere and the great location. Dad loved to sit in the lounge and look across the park. We never had any regrets with our choice. Every member of staff is caring and kind. Everyone treated Dad
with respect and dignity. Changes to his condition were always identified quickly and his needs were always met. There was excellent communication from the staff and manager.
When my Dad's condition deteriorated, every member was staff was compassionate and caring. Our situation was handled sensitively and delicately.
I cannot recommend this home enough.

Humfrey Lodge

from Claire F (Daughter of Resident) published on 15 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

Mum has been at Humfrey Lodge for almost 2 years, she is one of the younger residents at 75, and lives with Alzheimer's disease. Her needs have changed throughout this time, and the staff have supported and cared for her with respect and kindness. There are regular activities, and Mum is encouraged
to take part where she can, she particularly enjoys the guest music entertainers, and the family social events, of which there are many.
As a family, we have found the Humfrey Lodge to be supportive and they have helped us navigate communication with health care professionals and social workers. They were particularly supportive in the early months of Mum moving, and they appreciate that to move a loved one into a care home is a challenging time for everyone involved.
We particularly appreciate being able to visit Mum at any time, and being able to take along our dog, which Mum finds comforting. Mum enjoys the home cooked food, which includes traditional favourites and delicious puddings.

Mum arrived in December 2023, distressed and scared. The carers made sure she was listened to and felt safe. The building is bright and airy, and the bedrooms are clean. Mum has Alzheimer's and is gradually declining. She is dressed, washed and fed well and feels confident in the carer's ability to
understand her needs. The team always make sure birthdays and big events are celebrated by decorating the building beautifully. Overall, I am happy with the care mum is receiving at Elizabeth House

Happiness, contentment, and safety are just some of the requisites of good care which Elizabeth House nurtures in abundance. A fabulous place which has surpassed my expectations. It had a lovely staff, great facilities, and was so clean.

Frank Foster House provides outstanding care with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The staff are kind, attentive, and always go the extra mile for residents. The facilities are clean, well-maintained, and offer engaging activities. Most importantly, residents are treated with dignity and respect, giving
families peace of mind. Highly recommended!

We visit a close friend on a regular basis and from what we have observed is residents are treated well, and there is always somebody that you can speak to or ask for help. It is very clean. Asked about value for money on survey but that is not something we are involved in.

One member off staff excels whilst the others are a bit hit and miss more worried about what they are doing at weekend or after shift just want the pay check and don't really care about residents it took us as a family to tell staff mum had a uti made up excuses about getting urine sample and chasing
up review off meds always have to rely on members off staff that excels to get anything done some members off staff are to young to understand elderly residents needs and concerns and I think the price increase is an absolute insult people don't earn that a week or a month.

There are no faults with Humfrey Lodge. The staff are wonderful, they help my mum and are really caring, when we visit they are always so friendly and welcoming and tea and biscuits always arrive soon after we do. My mum has the starts of dementia and we find that everybody is so patient with her and
treat her with the utmost dignity. Mum thoroughly enjoys the food and activities.

Absolutely so happy with my brothers care. He has been severely mentally and physically disabled since he was 16 after a traffic accident. My parents cared for him for many years and after my dad died mum found it hard to carry on caring for him alone. He is now 60 and has been at Rosedale court for
2 years. We are so impressed with the quality of care he is receiving. We visit twice a week and can see how happy he is. There is always things going on. Visits from elvis tribute singers which he loves. Bbqs in the homes garden weather permitting which family members can attend. Church services from the local church who come into Rosedale regularly. Trips out to Southend seafront for fish and chip lunches. Loads of other stuff going on in Rosedale. Movie afternoons. Art classes. Cooking cakes, pancakes, local dance groups come in to entertain the residents. Fitness classes. Choir practice. Absolutely amazing home. So happy my brother is so happy there.

My dad was living quite a lonely life before he looked at the care home. He decided to give the home a 'trial' run, and that was a year ago. He really hasn't looked back since moving in. It has given him a new lease of life, loving all the activities and companionship. The home is spotless and the staff
are exceptional; they are professional, very caring and fun. He enjoys the trips out, and nothing is too much trouble for the staff. He is very happy living there.

I have been very impressed with Humfrey Lodge staff. When we first made the enquiry and initial visit they were very helpful. Since my mum arrived they have been very encouraging and supportive. We have some experience of other care homes with different features and this has been far better.

The staff are really friendly, kind and caring. I couldn't have asked for a better place for my mum to spend her final days. She was only here for a month but her care was outstanding. There was always plenty of good quality food and rinks on offer. Her room was very nicely decorated. I would highly
recommend. Many thanks.
