Brook House

My parents were finding it increasingly difficult to cope with being on their own at home. It was upsetting to see them scared and confused so we made the decision to find a care home which would suit their needs.

From our first meeting at Brook House, both the Manager and Deputy Manager have been

so helpful. They totally understood our needs as well my parents and they went out of their way to find rooms which would suit my parents thus allowing them to carry on as if they were still in their own home.

The entire home is light and airy, spotlessly clean and a joy to be in. Every member of staff we have met has been happy in their work and very friendly and helpful.

The Manager and Deputy Manager have been incredibly supportive during recent weeks and have helped my Dad and myself through what has been a difficult time ....really over and above the call of duty. The Entertainments coordinator has been an absolute star getting my Dad to join in activities and keeping him busy.

Reply from Ppatricia French, Registered Manager at Brook House

What a lovely review of our Home. It has been an absolute privilege to care and support in all the ways we have been able to and we look forward to carrying the great work on in caring for your Dad.

Hazeldell

My mother moved into Hazeldell in October 2024, and I can honestly say that she loves living there. Having previously lived on her own for a number of years, it was a major change for her, but she now refers to Hazeldell as her home.

There is a very nice feel to Hazeldell - it is clean and tidy,

with many facilities - and all the staff that I have encountered there, over many months, have been very friendly and polite, coming across as very caring individuals. The management team are great, and are always willing to accommodate requests in whatever way possible.

There are many daily activities - far too many to list - which the residents are free to join in with (or not), as they please.

Overall, I would have to say that Hazeldell is excellent.

I only have good things to say about the Haven. Nothing is too much trouble for them. It has a happy atmosphere. My Aunt is very happy as she tells me. It was recently my Aunts birthday and they made her a cake how lovely was that.
The manager and all of the staff are very helpful and very empathetic
to any situation.
I am extremely grateful to all of them for what they do and the way in which they do everything. I would highly recommend the Haven if you were thinking about sending a loved one there.

My mum has been a resident for just over a year at Brook House.
When she first arrived she was confused and worried and scared. She was instantly met with a warm - reassuring face that help her to settle in.
Within a few days she was sleeping better, eating better and washing.
You could see she was
relaxed with the staff and she felt comfortable.
All staff are welcoming and caring and you get a real family feel from everyone there.
My mum is safe and well looked after and because of this my mind is put at ease.

The overall care of my mother is outstanding. The staff go above and beyond duty of care. My mother was very poorly in December. We never expected her to make christmas. But shes doing well. Going out and joining in with others.
The manager keeps me well informed with changes, as I live 4 hours
away from the home.

Very supportive and understanding team.
Couldn't do enough for my dad or our family.
They enabled space, while still offering support if/when needed during the last days/weeks of his life.
Specific thanks and praise to the manager and another specific staff member. They always knew the right things
to say and knew how to deal with dad, even when he was being stubborn and difficult.

My mother has been at Hazeldell since November 2024. I have not been able to fault anything so far.
The home offers person centred care, and maintain independence where ever possible. I have not had any cause for concern since Mum has been a resident.
The care staff and managers alike are always
available and take an interest in both the residents and relatives. I am always kept up to date with any changes in Mums care needs.
There is a vast array of activities on offer but never forced on the resident's. The home is well decorated and the rooms are nice and comfortable. The meal choices are displayed on a daily basis with a variety of dishes on offer. Tea and coffees are always available.

These guys have done really well with my mother, she is brighter and more active than she's been for a few years.
Well looked after and well fed. The room isn't bad but could be a little bigger I guess but she moved from a bigger room to be downstairs due to her mobility so it was needed.

Mum has been a resident since 2019 and her Alzheimer's progression means her needs have changed over that time, but throughout she has been treated with care, respect and dignity. She still gains great enjoyment from all of the activities that go on during the week and the staff always try and get everyone
involved. As a family, we are always made to feel welcome when we visit and are thoughtfully consulted on Mum's ongoing care. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Hardwick Dene.

I wanted to write a review on the fabulous care that my Mum receives from Hardwicke Dene. The care she gets on a daily basis, I know she can be difficult at times, but ALL the staff at the home go above and beyond their duties and make sure Mum is taken care of. Dementia is such a horrible disease and
to deal with memory loss every minute of every day is so hard.
But Hardwicke Dene you can rest assured will care for your relative in every way possible and would recommend them to anyone when that time comes.

Reply from Paul Fletcher, Manager at Hardwick Dene

My mum has been at Hardwick Dene for over a year now. She has Alzheimer's which is slowly progressing. The staff are so patient and supportive of her needs. There are daily activities morning and afternoon. Lots going on out in the garden in the summer months. The residents are always encouraged to
join us be it baking, crafts, singing, exercise, live entertainers. The rooms are good.
It is clean and comfortable.
Maybe not as shiny and new looking as some of the fancy care homes that resemble hotels but the care here is so so good. That is what is important!
They really treat everyone like part of a big family.
I would recommend this care home to anyone over all the others.

When mum went into hospital and was then taken to the care home as we could not meet her needs any longer, it was obviously a worrying time for us all particularly as we hadn't viewed the care home. When we arrived to take mums belongings and check she was ok we was instantly uplifted by the warm welcome
it was really comforting to know that mum was being looked after by warm and caring people. Mum is very happy the staff always encourage her to mix and she has made friends and is doing really well, so much so that she looks much healthier and happier than before she went there. The staff keep us informed about everything and we are very happy with Hardwick Dene.
