Court Lodge

from Josephine G (Daughter of Resident) published on 14 March 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My father was a resident for just over 3 years. His care was exceptional and he was very happy at the home. At his birthday party in November, the staff had decorated one of the lounges and many came in and sang happy birthday to him. He was taken ill on 21st December and I was informed. The ambulance
was called, but according to our wishes and a pre-arranged plan, he was not taken to hospital, but stayed within the familiar surroundings. My daughter and I sat with him Christmas Eve and Day and the staff were brilliant. It must be so hard for them encouraging other residents to enjoy the Christmas spirit, while being attentive, caring and so respectful to the dying and their relatives and it was obvious they too were affected by losing one of their family. He died peacefully early on Boxing Day and the nurses and carers were wonderful in how they looked after him and sympathised with us. He could not have wished for a more gentle end in the place he called home.

Reply from Rebecca Hannam, Home Manager at Court Lodge

Newstone House

from D K (Daughter of Resident) published on 14 March 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My Mum was cared for at Newstone for 14 months.
She was in late stages of Alzheimer's, with barely any mobility so she required a lot of nursing care and Newstone staff were simply incredible. Mum was so well cared for , the personal care and social care were excellent , food was of a high standard
and nothing was too much trouble
I visited several times most weeks so feel I had a fair insight into the running of the Home.
I would be very confident to recommend Newstone to any family trying to select a Care Home for their elderly relative.

Reply from April King, Home Manager at Newstone House

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience of your mum's time at Newstone House, we really appreciate your feedback. Our team works hard to provide compassionate care and a welcoming environment, so it means a great deal to receive your kind words. I'll be sure to pass them on to the rest of the team. Castle View

Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My Mother moved to Castleview just over 2 years ago as she was no longer able to live independently.A decision made easier by Castle View .
They welcomed my Mother helping her settle in ensuring the transition of moving was made easier for both my Mum and the family. It was a pleasure to see my Mum
enjoying company, outings, being introduced to new hobbies, having her hair done and all other amazing facilities. Even the laundering of her clothes were to a high standard along with the cleanliness of all areas of the home.
They gave my Mother the upmost respect, friendship, care and compassion.
Living away allowed me to trust all staff 100% with the care of my Mother.
My Mother passed away this month. Whilst my Mum was poorly the staff gave dignity, respect and love to my Mum.
The professionalism and dedication of the staff is head and shoulders above other homes we considered. I would have no hesitation in recommending Castle View to anyone considering care for their loved one.

My father has been a resident of Canford Chase for circa eight months. During that time I have visited him most days and witnessed first hand the treatment he has received. Whilst not medically trained, I have run businesses and employed hundreds of people, so hopefully I can judge staff and I have
found the staff at Canford Chase and the care they give to be exemplary.

The care and compassion my Mother received while a resident at Avon Reach was five-star.
Even the cleaners, tea lady, restaurant staff, reception, laundry lady, activities staff, and nursing/care staff all contributed to making my Mum feel at home. They were interested in her stories, and likewise,
Mum was interested in theirs.
The only criticism I have is that the allocated doctor surgery didn't always deliver the best service. I would have appreciated being informed before they changed Mum's doctor.

My wife was looked after in an exemplary manner for eight months. All her needs were met. So, despite her initial misgivings about being a care home resident had disappeared and she was very happy and contented. The nursing element of her care was well tailored to her needs and handled a few crises
most efficiently. I have nothing but praise for the staff and management.

My mother has been at Braemar Lodge for over 2 and a half years now and I remain so happy with her care, as well as impressed with the whole team, where - whatever their role - everyone feels committed, caring and involved. The recent move to the new wing was managed with thought, grace, empathy and
such patience and good humour - with no indication of the awkwardness and difficulty that staff themselves have experienced as they too adjusted. A very special place, and I recommend it.

Of all the care homes we have visited Braemar Lodge is really the best. The staff are unfailingly kind, friendly and efficient. The rooms are beautifully appointed, very comfortable, light and airy, as are the public rooms. The meals are always tasty and varied. The nursing care is outstanding. All
in all, this feels like a home from home and a very special place for our Mother to end her days, We have every confidence in the staff and are grateful for its provision.

When my elderly parents-in-law reached a crisis point, in poor health and unable to manage at home, we found immediate support and exceptional care at Canford Chase - with an emergency out-of-hours evaluation and admission.
The compassionate team provided outstanding care, comfort and dignity, ensuring
peace of mind during a difficult time. I can't express enough the relief of handing over to professionals. The level of attention, communication, and quality of food and facilities were truly five-star. Their dedication made an immeasurable difference, allowing us to focus on spending precious time together without the burden of care. The team have gone over and above with their genuine interest, care and compassion for all of our family, especially in end-of-life care. We will forever be grateful. Deepest gratitude goes to the manager and her team for their unwavering commitment. We feel so lucky to have experienced this.

St Catherines View

from Ben J (Son of Resident) published on 19 February 2025

My elderly father fell and broke his hip in September and had a spell in hospital. Upon going home, it was clear that he was not going to manage and my brother and I were going abroad simultaneously. The decision was made to move dad into care and St Catherines was incredibly quick to assist with dad's
assessment being completed within 48 hours and his seamless move into his room 48 hours after that. The care and kindness that everyone at St Catherines View showed not just my dad but all of us at a very difficult time was outstanding. The level of care he received was exceptional and we always felt very comfortable that he was being well looked after. I will always be incredibly grateful for everything the team at St Catherines View did for my dad while he was there, you are all wonderful!

Fernhill

from S V (Daughter of Resident) published on 19 February 2025

What a wonderful care home. I can't thank you enough for the love and care that you showed both my dad and my stepmum while they lived at Fernhill. Every single member of the team got to know them with their foibles and celebrated the loving couple that they were. You also treated us with great love
and respect when it came to their passing. Dad was very content and peaceful but didn't want to go on once he had lost my stepmum and you cared for him beautifully, nothing was too much trouble. It was also obvious how much you cared for him as a person. You were also kind to me in those last weeks of his life. It felt like a family not a business. Thank you.

Reply from Lorraine Bell, Home Manager at Fernhill

Thank you for sharing such kind words with us. It means so much to know that Fernhill felt like a family to you and that your dad and stepmum were cared for with love and understanding. Getting to know them both as individuals and as a couple was truly special for our team. Your comments mean a great deal, and we really appreciate you taking the time to share them during this difficult time. I'll be sure to pass them on to the rest of the team. Thank you once again, and we wish you all the best.
