Court Lodge

from Josephine G (Daughter of Resident) published on 14 March 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My father was a resident for just over 3 years. His care was exceptional and he was very happy at the home. At his birthday party in November, the staff had decorated one of the lounges and many came in and sang happy birthday to him. He was taken ill on 21st December and I was informed. The ambulance
was called, but according to our wishes and a pre-arranged plan, he was not taken to hospital, but stayed within the familiar surroundings. My daughter and I sat with him Christmas Eve and Day and the staff were brilliant. It must be so hard for them encouraging other residents to enjoy the Christmas spirit, while being attentive, caring and so respectful to the dying and their relatives and it was obvious they too were affected by losing one of their family. He died peacefully early on Boxing Day and the nurses and carers were wonderful in how they looked after him and sympathised with us. He could not have wished for a more gentle end in the place he called home.

Reply from Rebecca Hannam, Home Manager at Court Lodge

On discharge from hospital my husband joined St Catherine's View in December 2024. Our family are very grateful for the care that he received and the support offered to us by all the staff.
Sadly, his time at St Catherine's was shorter than we had hoped, but during his stay we felt that he was in safe
and sympathetic hands and all the staff could not have been more helpful.

Reply from Vanda Baker, Home Manager at St Catherines View

Thank you for your kind words. We're so sorry for your loss and appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. My wife was looked after in an exemplary manner for eight months. All her needs were met. So, despite her initial misgivings about being a care home resident had disappeared and she was very happy and contented. The nursing element of her care was well tailored to her needs and handled a few crises
most efficiently. I have nothing but praise for the staff and management.

My elderly father fell and broke his hip in September and had a spell in hospital. Upon going home, it was clear that he was not going to manage and my brother and I were going abroad simultaneously. The decision was made to move dad into care and St Catherines was incredibly quick to assist with dad's
assessment being completed within 48 hours and his seamless move into his room 48 hours after that. The care and kindness that everyone at St Catherines View showed not just my dad but all of us at a very difficult time was outstanding. The level of care he received was exceptional and we always felt very comfortable that he was being well looked after. I will always be incredibly grateful for everything the team at St Catherines View did for my dad while he was there, you are all wonderful!

Reply from Vanda Baker, Home Manager at St Catherines View

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We're so glad we could support your dad and your family during such a difficult time. Helping him settle in quickly, while ensuring he felt comfortable and well cared for, was a priority for us and we hope it brought you some peace of mind. It means so much to hear that you felt reassured by the kindness and dedication of our team. I'll be sure to pass on your kind words to everyone. Thank you once again, and we wish you and your family all the best.

There is never anything but a warm welcome from the staff and a genuine care for their residents. Plenty of activities to get involved in daily, and always a buzz of happiness. This is the third care home my mother in law has resided in and by far the best. It's such a blessing to know she is spending
her final years in such a warm, caring place and you never feel that anything is too much trouble. The decor, the food, the cleanliness and the staff really make it a fabulous place.

Belmore Lodge

from Paula T (Daughter of Resident) published on 10 January 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

When my mother was given a terminal diagnosis she made the decision to leave her home and move to a care/nursing home knowing that she would need nursing care at some point in the not to distant future. Having been recommended Belmore Lodge by a friend I made an appointment to visit. It was the only
care home I visited, which says everything. I and subsequently my sister and our families were welcomed into Belmore and treated with kindness, respect and compassion. The end of life care my mother received was all we could have hoped for in such difficult circumstances. Losing her independence was her biggest challenge and staff approached her with sensitivity and genuine care, always listening to what she wanted and being led by her. Belmore Lodge is a professionally run and very well led care home with old fashioned values and a sense of pride in what they do. We as a family could never have imagined our mother in a care home and we consider ourselves very lucky to have found Belmore.

My friend was a resident for eighteen months. She decided she needed more care than she was able to give herself while living on her own.
She was a bright, intelligent lady and found the activities offered by the care home to be entertaining, varied and stimulating/
The grounds are beautiful to
sit in and enjoy nature and beautifully maintained.
All of the staff are friendly, welcoming and caring to both residents and visitors alike and the nursing care and food are exemplary.

I looked at several care homes prior to choosing St Catherines View. Immediately I was struck by a sense of family, love and happiness. The staff throughout my mother's time at the home have been professional, loving, caring and considerate. Whenever I dropped in my mum looked happy, well-turned out
and content. In her final days, both I and my brothers were overwhelmed by the warmth of all the staff and the tenderness they showed my mother. I highly recommend St Catherines.

I cannot express enough the peace of mind and trust we as a family have in Court Lodge for looking after Mum when she comes for respite care. Not only do they care for their client, but they also care and respect their client's loved ones, always accommodating requests, excellent care, communication

My mother passed away at the age of 96 after staying at Belmore Lodge for almost thirteen years. Throughout that time, the care she received was outstanding and the staff were unfailingly efficient, friendly and supportive. Over that time, the staff became her extended family and it was a great comfort
to us knowing she was so well looked after.
After her passing, the management and staff were very supportive in making all necessary arrangements and even arranged a commemorative tea for her after the funeral service. We were so touched to see how upset some of the staff were at her loss and a number of them came to the funeral or made a point of coming to pay their respects.
We would unreservedly recommend Belmore Lodge and its dedicated staff and thank them for making my mother's later years comfortable, enjoyable and safe.
