Although my husband only spent a few days there, his care was very high standard.. He had a nice room with a view ou of the window and he was kept warm and comfortable. Staff who took care of him treated him with kindness and respect.

This care home does not meet basic standards. My mum's bed clothes were dirty, half her clothes went missing, once a brand new winter coat. When I approached the staff I was told casually they had loads of odd bits in the laundry, I was disgusted with what I found. My mum's clothes were screwed up and
smelly in a bucket. No coat, this was obviously long gone, along with her new watch I got her for Christmas. Some of the staff are lovely but they are fighting a losing battle. My mum was treated like a baby and being in that awful place has set her back years. Her dementia has worsened and I know it is due to the lack of care and interaction. Other residents sitting in their own mess. Omg, it's such an awful place, it should be shut down. We have now moved mum to a private care home that we are funding and she is thriving. Please, please try and avoid this awful place.

Thank you for taking the time to share your concerns about your mother's experience at our care home. We regret that your experience did not meet the standards that we strive to uphold. Please accept our apologies for the distress this has caused both you and your mother. We are committed to providing a clean, respectful, and engaging environment for all our residents. The Senior Team were unaware of the issues regarding the personal items and laundry, and had we known we would certainly have taken immediate steps to address these. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention, as it helps us to improve our processes. We are genuinely sorry to hear that you felt the care provided was not sufficient. Our staff are trained to treat each resident with the utmost respect and dignity, and we are taking your comments seriously as we look to improve our training and daily practices. We wish your mother health and happiness. Thank you again for your feedback.

Absolutely shocking, wouldn’t even send my dog there.
Care poor, all the carers ignore you.
Never saw the manager, only once, non-existent.
Dressed my Mother in everyone else’s clothes due to my mother’s clothes frequently going missing even after having repeated conversations with the management
who assured us that they would locate them.
Worst place I’ve ever seen poor practices being observed.
My mother ended up with a bruise on her nose, but no real explanation for why.
Visitor's room frequently cluttered up with boxes never any chairs.
I could go on forever, one thing is for sure, think twice before entertaining this establishment.
PS my mother has moved to a beautiful care home and guess what, when she left the majority of her clothes were still missing so she had to leave without them.

My husband has been in Cherington Nursing Home since August 2021 and I have been delighted with the care he has received. The manager and her staff are excellent. They keep me informed of his condition and health. Nothing seems too much for them. They are also so welcoming which means I have no doubts
about visiting. I am sure I would find it impossible to find anywhere better.

We've been so impressed by the manager and the team at Cherington Nursing Home and how they are looking after our father. He had a difficult year, they agreed to take him and he's now so settled and so well looked after. We are very grateful for the kindness and professionality of all the team there.

My wife needed care and we visited Cherington Nursing Home in June and instantly knew it was right for her. After a period of hospitalisation, my wife had been bed-bound for many weeks but within two days at Cherington they had her up and in a chair and we were then able to sit in the garden with her
when we visited. The staff were all very caring and couldn’t do enough for my wife. We are devastated to have lost her but know that her last few months were as good as they could possibly have been given the terrible illness she had. We would have no hesitation in recommending Cherington for anyone looking for care for a loved one. Thank you to the manager and her team for everything.

My father was in this home over a year. I had cause to complain on many occasions regarding how he was left not able to reach drinks and having so much thickener in his drink it was like a blancmange! Plus much more. I saw my dad on Monday. He was his usual self on Thursday. I had a phone call saying
he’s on antibiotics for a scratch on his head, by Sunday he was dead. I received nothing from the home in terms of any explanation as to what happened, I collected his things and staff didn’t once convey sympathy or ask how I was in fact they acted the same as usual. I had to contact the manager after, which ten days after my dad's death I received a condolence card which was suitable for Valentine’s Day. I left a message for the overall manager to contact me. I’m still waiting. Whilst there are worse homes, this one needs vast improvement and staff need lessons in care and conduct.

Hi Susan, we are disappointed to read your review and sincerely apologise for any distress you have felt. Following discussions had with yourself alongside Adult Services and the Manager of Cherington, it was agreed that we would collectively find a way forward following the unsuccessful attempt to find a more suitable care placement for your father. Our records show that all care needs were met. The scratch on your father’s head was from his finger nail, which was tended to. It was very unfortunate to see his deterioration prior to his demise however again we can confirm all care needs were met during this time. The card sent to you by Manager of Cherington following the passing of your father expressed heartfelt sadness at your loss and our hope was that this was conveyed. We would like to express our sincere condolences one again. Wishing you all the best.
