I'm a friend of a resident who has been in the home since discharge from hospital last June. The care and professionalism of carers, nurses and kitchen staff is second to none. Nothing is too much trouble.
Not only do they care for residents but they are there for family and friends alike. They are
reassuring in difficult times and always there with a friendly face.
Their website says family and this is certainly one big family.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review. It always gives our staff a boost to know that their dedication and passion to care is recognised. It has been an absolute pleasure to care for your friend and I am so pleased that he will be staying with us permanently. I hope to have a neighbour as supportive as you have been to him, in my life one day.

My mother was in Cross Way House for a relatively short time but my wife and I couldn't fault the care that she received from all of the staff. She was treated with kindness and dignity the whole time she was there. Unfortunately due to a short illness she recently passed away and we couldn't have been
given more care and understanding at this sad time. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the staff at Cross Way House for making the last few months of my mums life the most comfortable and dignified that they were able.

Reply from Della Pope, Manager at Cross Way House

Mum did not want to go into a home and it was the hardest decision myself and my daughter made.
But I could no longer look after Mum at home and we had lost the mother/daughter relationship.
The staff at Woodlands made Mum feel at home and she now loves it. But most of all they helped us as well.
Recently
Mum was taken into hospital and one particular carer (she,ll know who we mean) was incredible.
Thank you Woodlands.
We love you.

Mum has been in Cross Way house for 6 months and really loves it, we are so pleased that we found this lovely home for Mum, we couldn't be happier with the care Mum receives, all members of staff always go above and beyond to deliver amazing care, compassion and support.
We often have questions regarding
Mum, and every single member of staff from management to laundry are always willing to chat with us and answer any questions we may have.
We can't thank you all enough for looking after Mum so well. We really do appreciate it.

The care of my increasingly frail mother has been exemplary. Nothing has been too much trouble for the staff in ensuring that she is as content and comfortable as possible. The management and staff have been diligent and alert during recent health setbacks and I have had complete confidence in their
actions taken and in keeping family members informed. The staff are well versed in meeting my mother's needs and desires and treat her as an individual. Thank you to Woodlands for all that you do.

From the manager, deputy manager to the care staff, kitchen staff, cleaners, activities organiser and laundry staff, I have only found all the staff to be welcoming, friendly, kind, caring and always happy to speak to you if I have any concerns about my mum. The staff have never been rude to any family
members. Since my mum moved in to Cross Way House, she has come on leaps and bounds, she loves living there, she loves all the staff and has a lot of respect for them and what they do for her on a daily basis. I have never seen my mum so happy. We were very lucky to find this care home, couldn't be happier, knowing my mum is in safe hands and being very well cared for.

My mum moved into Cross Way House care home in December. Nothing has been too much of a problem when we visit, they have always been extremely helpful when we have asked for our mum to be in her room, when we have needed to speak about finances, we are even allowed to bring our dog.
We always ring
to say we are on our way, this gives them time to have mum in her bedroom.
Unfortunately today I spoke with assistant manager to say we were coming to see mum regarding POA so needed to speak in private in her room.
The assistant manager was rude on the phone saying we have only put your mum in the day room and now you want us to move her and then you only stay for a few minutes, we are busy and you will have to wait if your mum is not in her room. We were happy to wait.
When we see mum, normally after one minute she asks us to leave, we respect this.
I tried to explain to the assistant manager why we don't stay long, but she was not interested.

Reply from Della Pope, Manager at Cross Way House

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience regarding your visits. We sincerely value feedback as it helps us continuously improve the care and services we provide. We are pleased to hear that you have generally found our staff helpful and accommodating and appreciated being able to bring your dog along to see your mum. We strive to create a welcoming environment for both our residents and their loved ones. However, I am very sorry to learn that your recent interaction with a member of our staff. We understand how important it is for families to have private time with their loved ones, particularly when discussing matters like power of attorney, and we sincerely apologize if this situation caused any frustration or upset. Please rest assured that I will address your concerns internally. We are committed to resolving this matter and ensuring that all future visits are positive and respectful for you and your mum. Thank you again for bringing this to our attention.

My brothers and I have been impressed by the welcome and warmth shown to our brother since his arrival in the summer. Despite his dementia, he has regained some speech after several years previously when he was unable to say much at all. We are sure this is due to the stimulating activities provided
by the care home. We've also noted that his awareness and concentration have improved. All the staff are such caring and understanding people. He could not be in better hands. His bedroom has room for all his books and the maintenance staff kindly put up his favourite pictures. We can visit at any time we want and are always made very welcome indeed. We could not be more delighted with Solent Cliffs.

My sister, my husband and I were overwhelmed by the kindness, warmth and consideration that was shown to us and of course my dad. He was only in their care for 5 days but all they did for us all was exceptional. The home is a well-run establishment and all the staff have shown us such sympathy and understanding
and indeed empathy. We are so glad Dad ended his days in such a wonderful home.

My sister recently arrived at Solent Cliffs Nursing Home from a care home in another area. From the outset, she was welcomed with a smile and reassurance from all staff. Staff appear happy and caring, treating residents with dignity and respect. My sister has now accepted help with personal care something
she refused at her previous care home although it was needed. It's been good to see her begin to participate in some of the activities especially music events as music is her passion. I feel now I can relax knowing that my sister is safe and being looked after in a caring and thoughtful manner. Thank you to the Solent Cliffs team for all they do. It's a happy and caring environment.

Highly recommend! The management team were 1st class, very knowledgeable and more importantly it's all about the care and welfare of my dad. All the staff I've met and seen are happy and bring a togetherness of one big family, which was very important as this was the first time my dad had been in this
type of environment. The moment he walked through the door staff and residents came towards him and made him more than welcome! He's so happy now he's getting the care and companionship around him. He actually rang me to say he loves it. I live in Scotland and we've only just lost my mother so it's still very raw for us as a family and especially for my dad. The staff even let off a balloon with him with a message for my mum. I'm more at ease now knowing my dad is safe and getting well looked after and it's real peace of mind especially with the distance apart. If my personal review helps anyone who's looking to place a loved one into a rest home then please enquire here first, their priority is always care first.

First visit to see my mum along with my wife. Met by a very competent and polite staff member. Had to wait a short while before the head of caring showed us to my mum's room. She was very pleasant and knowledgeable about my mum's care and well-being. She also assisted me in setting up the app. Was asked
if we wanted to stay for lunch, which was gratefully accepted. Staff were friendly and happy to talk to us.

Dad loves living at Woodlands. He enjoys being around the residents and staff. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. So when he asked to have all his family and friends visit, I approached them to ask if it was okay to take them to the dining room between meals. On the day we were all welcomed, the room
was prepared for us and we were offered drinks. Dad was so happy and we were grateful for the opportunity to get together for him. Thank you so much for making and keeping my dad safe and happy.

Mum came for respite care but stayed. The managers were skilled and helpful from the outset, guiding us through the (new for us) process but also giving us time and space to come to terms with the difficult decisions involved. Having checked the QVC (Good) it was the kindness of all the staff (including
the cleaners, kitchen and maintenance staff as well as the lovely carers) that persuaded us that Mum could be happy staying at Woodlands. Visiting is truly unlimited and we have been able to remain involved with Mums care and take her out as much as we have wanted to. There is good contact between the home and families enhanced by the new app. There is a dedicated events manager so each week has is a good selection of planned activities but there is also space for private conversations and rest. The garden is lovely and is well-used when the weather is warmer. We feel Mum is treated as a unique individual with consideration of her personality, well-being and safety.

My husband needed a week's respite care when I attended a family wedding. We were warmly welcomed on arrival and special attention was to ensure my husband could hear as he has limited hearing in one ear only. The home seemed a happy, active place and all the staff I met were friendly, efficient and
helpful. The previous three respite experiences have not gone well but I would be happy for my husband to go to Woodlands again should the need arise.
