Mum has been with St. Leonard's for two years now. As a family we are completely overwhelmed by how wonderful this place is. The staff are all warm, professional and so, so caring. Mum is not able to speak, but they always understand what she needs. They know her as a person and have always actively
made sure that she joins in with activities she loves and let her be if she isn't interested. The atmosphere is relaxed and that is why the residents are so happy. The home and the grounds don't feel like a clinical environment, they feel like home.
Living so far away, I am totally secure in the knowledge that the staff are not only keeping mum safe but are actively ensuring that she feels loved and cared for. She is thriving at the age of 85 and that is a wonderful thing.

I couldn't wish for a nice home for my mum. Mum loves the care that she receives and is always telling me how kind the staff are. It is always a pleasure to visit and I am always made to feel so welcome. The home is spotlessly clean. Any queries I have had are addressed promptly and efficiently. Thank
you to all the lovely team, I'm grateful to each and every one of you and so is Mum.

A year ago I was faced with making the hardest of decisions knowing I could no longer cope at home. I visited many care homes, after repeated word of mouth recommendations, I visited St Leonard's Care Home. From the minute I stepped in it felt "right", a home away from home. Where I still have input
in my husbands care, but he is looked after by a team of people with competence and compassion. I wanted somewhere where the TV wasn't the only activity, somewhere warm (in every way), comfortable and clean. Somewhere I felt confident he would be well cared for. A year on I can say I've found it.

I just love St Leonards Care Home. What a wonderful care home, all the staff are welcoming and friendly and they genuinely do care that mum is as happy and comfortable as she can possibly be. Her bedroom is spacious and everywhere is extremely clean. There are small courtyard gardens as well as larger
garden areas which enhance the living areas and are lovely in the summer. The food looks really good and the menu is varied with lots of refreshments being served through the day. I know Mum is being care for with respect and dignity in an environment that manages to be spacious but still feel cosy and homely. I feel my Mum is valued as an individual and everything possible is done to make her feel respected and a part of the St. Leonards family. It makes such a difference knowing she is being cared for so well. I can't thank the staff enough.

My mother has been at St Leonard's for over three years. She has been treated with respect and is very well looked after physically and mentally. Any concerns relating to her health are quickly dealt with. She is stimulated by the great variety of social activities on offer.
The home itself is warm
and cosy, and very clean, very much a home from home.
The manager is very approachable, as are all the members of staff.
I would have no hesitation, at all, in recommending this home for a loved one.

As soon as we walked into SL care home we knew that SL was the care home we wanted for our dad. It was the friendly, family, happy atmosphere that impressed us so much. From the initial visit through to the application and moving-in process, all the staff have been brilliant, helpful, sensitive, and
welcoming.
The bedrooms are spacious and comfortable and we have been encouraged to take any of Dad's own possessions in that will help him feel at home to make it his home!
The communal areas are lovely and bright looking over beautiful views of the gardens.
There is always organised activities suited for all abilities and the residents are encouraged to join in. It's wonderful to see Dad taking part. All the residents are all treated with the utmost respect and dignity. All staff show everyone their love, and care of the highest standard.
We truly cannot praise the attitude, professionalism, and dedication of the Management and staff. And would recommend SL Care Home without hesitation.

When my dad first became a resident, it took him a little while to settle in. However the staff were professional, patient and considerate and were able to accommodate his initial difficulties. Staff reassured him and over time dad has been able to settle.
All the staff that I have met have been kind
and caring. Dad has enjoyed the numerous outings and activities organised by the home. I know that he is in safe hands.

If you are reading this review it's likely you are researching where can you find somewhere for a loved one to go, whether it be for respite care or as a full-time resident.
You will not find anywhere better than White Plains in my opinion and I researched extensively.
The team at White Plains are
exceptional - the care shown not only to those staying but also the huge support given to the families is incredibly valuable and you feel so included.
The care is superb and such a sense of warmth and belonging - match this with the outstanding cleanliness of the accommodation and the beautiful grounds you really won't be disappointed.
It's a hard time when a loved one needs to adjust their life and one full of emotion but choosing White Plains is one less worry.

What an excellent experience and an excellent home. My Dad required some urgent respite care and this Home is just around the corner from where my Dad lives. Luckily for Dad, there was a room available, we were able to visit the very next day after making our initial enquiry and the following day Dad
checked in. My dad couldn't wait to stay and from the moment we arrived, the kindness and caring of all staff was immediately obvious. The home is spectacular and historic and has wonderful grounds. My dad is not the easiest of people to deal with at times but he was handled with care, kindness and respect, which was wonderful to see and was a relief to know that he was happy. My dad loved the menu choice, the cups of tea, the staff, the freedom, the activities and above all, the hugs he tried to get from everyone. This a lovely intimate Home where you can relax, have some peace and quiet if you want it or be social when you feel like it.

My mother has been in Chesham Bois Manor for a year since she had a fall and was on the floor on her own for 18 hours. The staff are consistently kind and their parties are not infrequent - summer party, D-Day party, etc. They also have occasional outings and in-house activities. I feel my mother is
well cared for and as someone who loved gardens the grounds are a lovely place to sit in the summer. There is always ongoing maintenance so the place looks well cared for. We looked at half a dozen homes before selecting Chesham Bois Manor and the thing that impressed me about this (and one other) was that the residents are encouraged to sit in a communal area during the day rather than in their own rooms.

White Plains Care Home

from Nigel L (Grandson of Resident) published on 30 July 2024
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

Nan was a resident at White Plains for 15 months, at first she was unsettled but within a short period settled in well. She enjoyed joining in with activities provided including gardening, crafts, musicians and outings to local shops and village hall etc. I must say I was very happy with the activities
provided, on many occasions when I visited I saw staff interacting with residents, they also organised tea parties, live music and events where relatives were invited to come and enjoy. Residents are not sat in front of the TV and left for the day like I have seen in other places. The care provided is first class and they keep you informed if your loved one has any issues etc.
The home is kept to a high standard and very clean, Nan had a room with a view over the front gardens.
The outside areas and gardens are kept to a high standard which residents can enjoy weather permitting of course.
Overall the team at White Plains did a great job looking after my Nan.

White Plains Care Home

from Sharon C (Daughter of Resident) published on 10 April 2024
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

Mum was a resident of White Plains for three years until she passed away in March.
During the time she was a resident her health slowly declined due to illness, and her needs became more complex. But we were assured that White Plains was a home for life, and Mum did indeed consider it her home.
The
care Mum received was always first class, at times she could be strong-willed but this was met with humour, patience and always care and respect.
Activities were available and Mum was included as much as she wanted to be, especially enjoying outside
events and musical guests. Mum also liked time on her own in her room which was always accommodated.
Being independent in earlier years Mum appreciated residents' meetings and having her voice heard and opinions sought.
All the members of staff that we interacted with were pleasant, polite and dedicated to the residents and unfailingly kind to any visiting relatives.

Reply from Nina Szmigielska, Home Manager at White Plains Care Home

Your heartfelt words about Mum's time with us are deeply appreciated. It brings us great comfort to hear that Mum felt at home and well cared for during her stay at White Plains. Providing first-class care and ensuring Mum's comfort and happiness was always our top priority, and we are grateful for the trust you placed in us. It warms our hearts to hear that Mum enjoyed participating in activities, cherished her moments of solitude in her room, and valued having her voice heard in residents' meetings. We strive to create a supportive and inclusive environment where all residents feel valued and respected. Your kind words about our staff mean a lot to us. Our team is dedicated to providing compassionate and personalized care to each resident, and knowing that their efforts were appreciated brings us great joy.

Bury Lodge Care Home

from L L (Daughter of Resident) published on 3 April 2024
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My mother first stayed at Bury Lodge in 2019 for respite care after a spell in hospital. It soon became apparent that she wouldn't be able to manage if she returned to her own home, and she became a permanent resident for a year, until the pandemic lockdown started when we moved her to a facility nearer
to where we live.
A year later, she asked to return to Bury Lodge as she missed the staff and had felt settled there. She was welcomed back and instantly made to feel 'at home' again.
She found the continuity of care one of the most reassuring aspects of her residency.
Sadly she was very hard of hearing and had poor eyesight, so was unable to enjoy many of the activities, but loved going to the chapel each week and also enjoyed the book club.
She had very restricted mobility, and the staff took great care of her, treating her with kindness and patience.
We'd like to thank all the staff for their care. It was so reassuring to know that she was in safe hands until the end.

I have my Mum in Ryview Manor. She has been in there for about four months now. From my first contact with them, the staff have been nothing but understanding and caring. From the staff member who I first talked to when I was first looking for care for my Mum, to all the floor staff, cleaners, up to
nurse, to the Matron and the home manager. It is never easy to make the decision to put a loved one in to care but the staff here have made it a caring and pleasant experience. They have called if there is a problem with Mum and guided me through the practical solutions. They have offered a shoulder to cry on when I have needed it and reassured me that I am doing the right thing for both Mum and myself. There is a doctor who visits on a regular weekly round but is also available in between if required. Mum is now exercising more and seems to have settled in well making friends with both staff and other residents alike.
