Tremona Care Home

from P B (Granddaughter of Resident) published on 31 March 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My grandfather moved in to Tremona two years ago, as a family a very difficult decision for us to make he was living in his own home and he wanted to remain there living an independent life. It was clear that grandad required more support than we could give him, we tried home care however he would shower
himself before the carers arrived, he was elderly and finding everyday tasks increasingly more difficult. Although there were signs grandad was officially diagnosed with dementia at the age of 97 and the move into the care home environment was our only option to keep him safe. I am so proud to say it is the best move we ever made, grandad has been so happy at Tremona, the management and care staff are outstanding in every way, we will celebrate his 100th birthday in August I am so happy that we will celebrate with not only our immediate family but with our Tremona family. Thank you all for everything x x

St Matthews Care Home

from Jenny J (Daughter of Resident) published on 31 March 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My Dad was a resident at St Matthews for 4 months overall and the staff were absolutely wonderful with him during his stay. He wasn't the easiest person to deal with and I imagine that he tested the patience of everyone on a regular basis but he was always treated with dignity and respect. I will be
forever grateful that St Matthews made his last days comfortable and safe, the home is warm, clean and bright and full of interaction if so desired otherwise residents can just be left quietly to do their own thing. I do so wish that we could name individual staff as there were 3 particularly wonderful ladies there who will be forever in our hearts - thank you xxxxx

My friend has been a resident at Matthews since September last year. She did struggle initially with the transition. The staff have been paramat to her settling in and feeling alot happier with the move. Not only that, it has also been a trying time for family and friends of which all staff at St Matthew's
have been so supportive, kind and friendly which has helped enormously.

My Mum went to st Laura's in December, she is very well cared for and there is definitely a family feel to the home. All the staff have been so supportive, especially management. The transition has been an emotional roller coaster for me, but Mum hasn't been aware of any of this. I feel happy and
relaxed that she is in a lovely homely place and a her needs are very well supported.
A big thank you to management, staff and all the carers there that makes Mums day special everyday.
Thank you all so much.

Reply from Eme Cameron, Home Manager at St Lauras Care Home

It is our pleasure to have your Mum in our care. Being a big part of Mums initial assessment - we know how nervous Mum and all of you were for her to come into care. It's heart-warming to see someone settling and St Lauras becoming home. No need to thank us, thank you for trusting in us and working closely with us to ensure Mum is happy and content. We look forward to making more memories with Mum and your family.

Tara's Retreat Care Home

from Jules M (Granddaughter of Resident) published on 21 March 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My nan has been at Tara's for over three years and she recently turned 100 years old. Mentally she is very sharp and completely with it however, her body is starting to fail her which has resulted in a number of falls.
After quite a traumatic stay at a couple of hospitals she has returned back to
Tara's (her home). I have been blown away in the care and general concern for her wellbeing. Even the carer's that were not assigned to her floor have been to see her to check how she is doing. Holding her hand, stroking her face, making her laugh, giving her comfort and reassurance and just making her feel loved has meant the absolute world to me.
These carers are incredible people and I cannot thank them enough for what they do and keep on doing. Knowing I can talk to any member of staff whenever I need to gives me total peace of mind and reassurance that Tara's is a truly special place with truly special people. x

After 10 years of living in this home my mother finally passed away in January. Having experienced a decade of Tremona I can say that the staff have been amazing and very kind. Any small problems were addressed immediately. All basic needs were met but there were many extras included. There is an excellent
social programme and all visitors become as family. Many carers came to my mother's funeral service sacrifice their days off. It's the staff and management that make a place and this has an abundance of incredible dedicated people.

My mother was a resident at the Care Home for almost 10 months. It was a shock for my mother going from independent living to needing more support and care. However the kindness and care given by staff helped her to settle in. In fact overall her health improved. All the staff were very caring and always
professional. They demonstrated knowledge and expertise in all aspects of care they gave my mother. It was a happy few months for her. There was a lovely atmosphere in the Home - staff made a point of greeting visitors and I was always made to feel welcome. The staff took an interest in my mother and made every effort to include her in activities laid on by the Home.

Milford Lodge

from Nicki M (Daughter of Resident) published on 6 March 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My mother was a retired hairdresser and on her arrival day she was offered a wash and blow dry which was a stroke of genius to settle her into her new environment.
Mum was not a great mixer with people and had most of her meals in her room or the lounge, which again was not a problem for the staff.
Her
care was second to none, she was very well looked after over her 6 month stay and cared for sensitively during her end of life.
The friendly and helpful staff were always on hand when I visited to give me updates on how Mum was progressing. Towards the end, I received regular telephone calls on my mum's declining health.
I shall miss my visits to Milford Lodge and seeing the friendly staff who were always pleased to see me.
I can thoroughly recommend Milford Lodge, an outstanding care home.

My mother has been a resident for almost six years. During that time she has been looked after by many different carers, all of whom have treated her with courtesy and respect. Her health has deteriorated and she is no longer mobile, but every effort is made by the staff to cater to her needs. She has

Dad moved to Osbourne Court in January. Having lived his 90 years in South Manchester/Cheshire, this was a big move for him. We were concerned about his health over Christmas and were worried if such a big move was right for him. We needn't have worried. The level of care from the friendly team at Osbourne
Court has exceeded my expectations. He is eating well, building up his strength again and now that he's only 10 minutes from me I can see him as often as I like. This is the best care home that Dad has stayed in and I am delighted.

Tara's Retreat Care Home

from Pauline H (Friend of Resident) published on 24 February 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 3.0 out of 5

My friend was discharged from hospital for 'End of Life Care' in the evening. The following morning I went to visit at 10 am. I was let in, didn't see anyone, went to her room, she was lying there half-covered with a coloured type of sheet. There was a duvet on the armchair and dirty bedding on the
floor. I sat with her for 10 mins, then left, still didn't see anyone. A relative was going in at 12 which the Home knew about, so I knew she would be clean and comfortable for them. I went to visit again late afternoon and she passed away whilst I was there, Thank God I knew she didn't die alone. Also, how can a Care Home not have any clean laundry to use on Christmas morning?

This is not something we have ever experienced before and our end of life care is usually very highly commented on by relatives. I am happy to discuss in person if you wish to do so.

Review of

Greenhill Care Home

from D C (Daughter of Resident) published on 19 February 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My father was at Greenhill for the last few months of his life. His dementia was very advanced by that time - he was able to enjoy only the present moment. At Greenhill, the present moment includes beautiful gardens, with ancient oaks, cheerful marigold flowers and thoughtfully designed pathways and
seating to make it all accessible to someone with limited mobility. Being able to be in nature - surrounded by beauty and held by Mother Earth - was a true gift. The garden tearoom is carefully and beautifully tended - the tables are set with linen tablecloths and vintage china tea cups and there are baskets of books and knitting yarn, so it feels homely - like visiting a lovely old tearoom. I was deeply touched by the warmth, respect and sincere care I felt from the manager - I honour her loving heart. We stayed by my father's side in his final days - I witnessed so much genuine care and goodwill, day and night. We were all looked after with empathy and compassion. My heartfelt gratitude.

Review of

St Matthews Care Home

from Christina L (Daughter of Resident) published on 31 January 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My father moved to St Matthew's Care Home in Redbourn in January 2024. He had Alzheimer's and had tried to look after himself at home but was not coping very well. It was a big decision for us all and we had a good look around all the care homes in the area. St Matthew's was by far the best. During
his year living there, his health improved - both physical and mental. He had the choice of being in company in the communal areas or when he wanted peace and quiet, he could sit in his lovely bedroom.
The carers, headed by one member of staff in particular, were all so kind and patient. They were also incredibly supportive to us all which meant a lot.
The residents had a super entertainment team who took them out on trips, had musical afternoons and family events in the grounds.
Sadly, my dad passed away after Christmas at the age of 95. But I know he had a fantastic year at St Matthew's.
Thank you to everyone. You helped us all.
