The home took my husband on emergency respite. My husband due to a down turn in his dementia display various stages which proved difficult for the staff to manage. Unfortunately contracted UTI which added to the problems.
The staff coped with the situations and we came to the conclusion my husband
needed nursing care.

Five Oaks

from Kalpesh P (Son of Resident) published on 24 March 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5

My dad was admitted to Five Oaks in November 2025. Overall his care has been good. The leadership team (led by an hard-working, enthusiastic manager) is very good and listen to your concerns with care and follow up. The catering has improved in the time he has been there. The activities are led by great
enthusiasm by the activity coordinator and they engage outside talent with songs, music and physical exercises. The quiet lounge is available for those who just want to nap! Each individual is special and cared for with their individual need with great patience.

Room for improvement:
More engagement from family and friends of the residents. The care staff at meal times are busy but would love to have more staff and family members sit and chat at meal times with the residents to encourage them to eat. Agency staff should be kept to minimum. The staff do chat to and encourage residents at the lounge but more of this would be good and of course their family and friends.

Reply from Rahima Mulindwa, Registered Manager at Five Oaks

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your detailed feedback. We're delighted to hear that your dad has received good care since his admission in November, and that you've noticed the efforts of our hardworking leadership team, activity coordinator, and the improvements in catering. Its wonderful to know that our activities and services, like the quiet lounge, have been a positive experience for him.We truly appreciate your suggestions for improvement as well. Engaging family and friends at meal times is an excellent idea, and well look into ways to encourage more involvement from loved ones. Were also mindful of the balance between staff and agency support, and we strive to keep agency staff to a minimum while maintaining the highest standards of care.Your feedback means a lot to us as we continue to enhance our services. Thank you again for trusting us with your dads care, and we look forward to further improving his experience at Five Oaks.

I was extremely fortunate to choose Muscliff Nursing Home for my Mother's End-of-Life- Care. Muscliff is lead by a highly experienced Manager, supported by an excellent Deputy Manager. All the other staff are absolutely amazing, so kind, so helpful and so caring. All exceptionally well trained. Always
polite and courteous, nothing was ever too much trouble for any of them. I was constantly kept updated regarding my Mother's health and her day to day well being. Additional Medical support was available and called in when necessary. The home is spotlessly clean, highly organised and has a lovely homely feel to it. l only wish that l had found this amazing Nursing Home earlier. Thank you to all the lovely staff, I am truly grateful for everything that they did for my Mother - she had wonderful care.

The staff, carers and nurses at Millway House are exceptional. Both my mother and father are now living at the home and the care they receive is superb. They appear to be getting younger! The staff is very stable - we have got to know everyone well during this first year and we really appreciate the
consistency. Everyone genuinely cares and the relationships built with residents are heartfelt and professional. Kindness exudes from everyone who works there.
The activities are varied, well thought through and carried out with such joy. I fully trust my parents health and well- being to the nurses and carers, who also communicate with us whenever needed and whenever we ask. The carers work hard and manage their workload well, yet make each resident feel special and important. They really take time to get to know each resident and think about their preferences.
The rooms and facilities are kept spotless by the efficient, friendly and kind cleaning staff.
Millway has become our family.

Overall care at Millway House is very good. One area for improvement would be the laundry, as my sister has experienced having other people's garments left for her and items missing. Hopefully this will improve!
Selection of food could be improved. When in-house, the variety at lunchtime and evening
was very good.

My mother was in Woodbury Manor for just over a year when she sadly passed away in February 2025. Her arrival at the home was not as agreed as the hospital discharged her without telling me, however, the staff who weren't expecting her until the following week were kind and caring and made her feel
as comfortable as possible and made a room available for her. Throughout her stay the staff have been supportive to her needs and consulted with me as and when necessary.
Although my mother was unable to join in with many of the activities due to her dementia, the staff tried to engage with her and we, and other families were invited to many events - the home has a very homely and friendly atmosphere, the staff are very welcoming and the manager approachable.
During her last few days she and the family were treated with great sensitivity.

My mother is currently in respite care at Five Oaks following a fall at her home approx 3 months ago. She spent 3 weeks in hospital and the care she received in hospital was appalling. As soon as we were able to discharge her we contacted Five Oaks. The Five Oaks team have been amazing initially to
transfer her from the hospital and then settle her into the Home and deal with her medical needs.

Mum is now settled and working on her physio with the aim to return home one she is fully mobile again. In the meantime, the staff have all been amazing looking after her and becoming friends. Five Oaks has a real family feel with visitors always welcome. The lounge is buzzing with lots of care staff around all the time.
Nothing can be 100% perfect but if you have any comments, just raise it with the management and the Five Oaks Team will sort it. Mum is happy and so are her family.

My mum was admitted to Millway House in January 2025 and both she and I have been so impressed by the care of the staff and the facilities. All the staff, laundry, cleaning, catering, care, maintenance, nursing, activities, reception and management are friendly and approachable and will always provide

Mum was really worried about going into a home but is enjoying the company of others and has started up a scrabble club in the evenings.
