My brother and I are very happy with the care our mum receives. She has been at Acacia for two years. The staff are very caring, respectful and attentive. We are kept up to date with any changes in Mum's condition and our wishes are respected. Management is very kind and approachable and I believe the
home to be well run. The food has improved over the two years and Mum is offered a balanced diet that is tailored to her needs. We're very happy with Acacia House.

from Steve K (Friend of Resident) published on 14 March 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My friend has been a resident at Acacia House for 17 months following a spell in hospital due to deteriorating health. From the time he arrived he has received excellent care from the dedicated and professional on site team. Although he remains in poor health he has improved greatly since his arrival
which I feel is thanks to the care he receives. When I visit, there is always a homely feel to the property, helped by a warm welcome from the staff (along with a cup of coffee). Nothing is too much trouble when it comes to my friends care or in making me feel welcome when I visit. I am happy to recommend Acacia House to anyone in need of a Nursing Home that has a family feel and provides excellent care for its residents.

My dad had been living at Brambling Lodge for over 4 years. He had mixed dementia aswell as being completely immobile. He sadly passed away recently.
Over the years you get to briefly meet staff but over the few days of my dad's decline the staff were amazing, the care and compassion they showed to
my frail dad was amazing to see. My sister and I stayed over night and the night staff that evening were amazing and we really got to know a few of the carers better over the few days we had left, it is just sad it takes a relative to be end of life to really have the time to chat with staff and get to know what your loved ones likes and dislike are, but also comforting to know they think very highly of them and look after them as one of their own. They have all been amazing and Abode should be proud of all the team they have working for them because all the staff you meet greet you in a kind and friendly way. Thank you Brambling Lodge. xx

My Mum has been a resident at Oakdale for the past 5.5 years. When she was taken to the home she was in very poor health but within the first 6 months she was transformed to her old self. This was entirely due to the care, attention and love given to her by the staff at Oakdale. Sadly she passed away
recently but the staff made her very comfortable and made it possible to stay in the home until the end.
I visited several care homes before choosing Oakdale, the deciding factors for me were the fabulous staff, the overall condition of the home and the wonderful grounds around the home. My mum really did think it was her own place and the other residents were her friends and family.
I would like to say a big thank you to all the staff at Oakdale.

My father suffers with Dementia and had taken to wandering out of his house at night and this was a concern which we had to act upon. Finding somewhere safe for a loved on to stay is a daunting task and very stressful.
We visited Oakdale Care Home with a view to placing my Dad there as part of going
round and looking at care homes near to where we live. Unlike others we had visited where you get a brief tour and ask a few Questions, the manager sat with myself and my wife for an hour telling us of all the benefits and answered all of our questions. We met several staff members during this time and also spoke to other residents and their family members. All of whom spoke very highly of this home.
This is an amazing home and there is very much a feel of family for both residents and their family members.. The kindness and compassion we received was like nothing I had experienced or expected. This is an outstanding home and we feel very lucky to have found such a lovely place for my dad to stay.

My dear mum was a resident at Brambling House Care Home for six months, Mum had to go into residential care after a fall and being discharged from hospital could not go home
My mum, sadly, passed away on the 18th of November 2024, the care that my mum received, from the management to the care team,
was so kind, caring and treated Mum with the dignity and respect that a 96-year-old, very frail lady deserved.
As a family, we were also treated very well, always the door was opened with a friendly face and we were always offered refreshments, was there for us when Mum was very poorly.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Brambling House for anybody looking for a care facility for a loved one.

Mum has dementia and after a week's stay in hospital because of her mobility, we had to decide to move her into a care home. Our first choice of home didn't work well for Mum but when we moved her to Oakdale it was clear to us that all the staff were friendly and caring and cared for the residents as
people not numbers. The home has a homely atmosphere and I think the fish tank is a lovely extra for the residents to look at.
Nothing has been too much for the management or staff, they are always happy to answer any questions and keep us informed. I live 3 hours away and am now happy and settled knowing that my mum is being cared for in the best possible way with compassion and love. We know here dementia is getting worse but it will be easier to accept the changes this will bring to Mum knowing she is being cared for in the right place.
The meals always smell and look lovely and the rooms are nicely decorated with a homely feel.

I am so pleased to say my husband has settled very well in Brambling House Care Home. He is kept clean and tidy by the kind, caring staff. They are always welcoming to me and friends who call in regularly to visit.
I love the way the staff make such a fuss of the residents on their birthdays and Christmas,
wow!
The residents enjoy making decorations with the help of a kind volunteer who spends Tuesday afternoons showing the residents how to make them. It's so lovely to see the concentration on their faces.
I am pleased with the care my husband is receiving on this terrible journey of dementia he is, unfortunately, on.
The caring staff are angels!

My mother-in-law went into Oakdale at the beginning of September 2024. We had been recommended to this care home by a lot of people as the one for her to get the best care - she has dementia and they specialise in looking after residents with this condition. The care is absolutely exceptional, you can
tell the carers working there love their jobs. On Friday we went to a cheese and wine evening which also had a singer. It was lovely seeing the residents enjoying themselves and everyone seemed so happy. My mother-in-law said to all of us 'I love being here' which says it all. Would highly recommend this care home 100 per cent. It may not have all the 'bells and whistles' that some care homes have but you have to look past that, as it should be about the care and I give this one 10 out of 10 for it.

I chose this residential home for Mum's 2-week respite as a friend's mum is a resident here. The staff are genuinely caring towards everyone and there is a lovely welcoming feeling. Everyone looks clean and groomed. The food looked appetising and there is always drinks available. Rooms are cleaned and
aired daily. I felt that Mum was kept safe and was well looked after during her stay and I wouldn't hesitate to hopefully book another stay in the near future. Thank you everyone at Oakdale, you are all doing a fantastic job!

My mum has been at Oakdale for two months now. This is the first time she has been in a care home. I was very very nervous about her going there; it was something I didn't want to happen, but there was no option. From the moment she went in, my fears were allayed. The manager took her in personally
and made her feel very special. I feel she is in a safe place and in safe hands. The carers I have met are, without exception, lovely, kind, gentle and professional, and my mum likes them all. The home feels cosy and warm. Mum's bedroom is always neat and tidy and smells really nice. She has made friends easily there. I no longer feel the sense of dread I had before. Whenever I visit, I am made to feel welcome, and there are always plenty of staff on hand, watching the residents and talking to them. I have been there during activity times also, and it is good to see the interaction between the staff and residents.

My brother had previously had respite care in the past year so, on arrival, he was greeted warmly by the staff. He appreciated the good food and looked forward to his meals. Staff were very busy but they had time to make contact with him in his room. In his flat, he had become very reluctant to leave
his bed and have help with personal hygiene. It was a great relief that staff got him back on his feet and allowed them to help with a shower and bath.
I really appreciate the support and relief that my brother's respite care has provided for me.

My dear wife has been a resident for over seven years and there is not a day goes by that she doesn't have the loving care of all the staff. Like me, she is treated like one of their family. I visit every day and help where I can and it's more like a second home for me. The staff are not only caring
but you can feel the love and dedication they give to the residents and visitors alike, in a warm and friendly atmosphere. The meals are varied and served to individual requirements. The rooms are what you make them, my wife's room is comfy and homely, decorated with lots of personal things, which you are encouraged to do. The rooms and social areas are kept immaculately clean and tidy. The residents are entertained with live music, also arts and craft. I never hesitate in recommending Brambling House Care Home and a relative of mine has used it twice recently for respite. I call all the staff... "angels in uniform".

Our mum has dementia and could no longer cope living alone. She became anxious and fearful, rarely went to bed and paced the floor most nights opening the front door regularly to check outside. She joined Oakdale in June, we were of course most concerned that she would not settle and may become even
more confused. It did take a little while for her to settle, however, the home manager assured us this was not uncommon. Now 4 months on she is happy and content. Sleeps all night & looks well & rested. The staff are kind, caring, friendly, patient and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble, more than happy to answer any queries we may have. The activities coordinator offers a varied range of interesting recreational pursuits. It's a busy, happy environment which is wonderful for residents who have maybe been alone for some time. There is also a quiet lounge. We viewed several homes but as soon as we saw Oakdale knew this was right for our mum.

We are into the second year of Mum's residence at Oakdale and I am happy to say the standard of care is as great as it was last year. The introduction of a bespoke activity coordinator late last year has added to Mum's experience providing more stimulation and entertainment. The carers are a great bunch,
always smiling and happy, providing a homely atmosphere compared to the sterile/medical environment at some care homes. I would highly recommend Oakdale upon the unfortunate circumstance that a family member requires full-time care.
