My wife and I have known this lady for over 50 years. She was always very talkative but since she has developed Alzheimer's her personality has changed. She seems to be well cared for at Winscombe Hall and the staff that we have met are very helpful. She is always clean and her room is tidy. The only
negative comment is that her room is at the lack of the house with a view of a brick wall. Winscombe Hall is an old property with interesting features, it's a shame that it is so far away making it difficult for visitors.

My mother was accepted to Winscombe Hall in February 2024. It turned out to be perfect for her with her developing needs. The staff and manager were very attentive and patient, and all seemed to like Mum.
She didn't partake in any of the social activities on offer, being bedbound - so there is a lot
more on offer than Mum could use. When she passed away, the staff were with her, comforted her, and was communicative with me, for which I was very grateful.

The building is listed and not originally built for nursing and dementia care, however it oozes with a homely atmosphere supported by staff who go the extra mile to ensure care to a very high standard to all residents.
From management to medical staff; carers, cleaners and maintenance personnel work
as a team. Easy to speak to, including the welcome smile.

The care shown to my father in his last few days by everyone from cleaners, laundry, care, nursing and home manager was exemplary and we can't thank them enough for making his last few days such caring ones. This caring attitude from every member of staff was a great comfort to my mum and the rest of
the family. A huge thank you from us all.

My nana was a resident at Winscombe Hall. Throughout her time there, she had laughter, love and kindness given to her by so many of the staff. It became apparent in her final days that she was adored and loved by them and certain individuals, and telling stories of their time with Nana, gave us warmth
and comfort.
The support from management, nursing staff and carers for us as a family towards the end was incredible. They took time to really talk us through everything, and they were so thorough. They made sure the family were fed and watered.
I cannot thank you all enough! Thank you so much for looking after my nana.

Mum initially came to Winscombe Hall for respite from the hospital and ended up staying for six months before she sadly passed away. The care and compassion shown towards Mum and us during this difficult time was outstanding. It was so lovely how much love Mum had for all of the staff; she was very
fond of them, and them of her. It was truly lovely to see, and I will hold this close to my heart and be forever grateful. Thank you.

My wife has been a resident at Winscombe Hall since mid-September, apart from three weeks in hospital with AF, she suffered from Alzheimer's.
The attitude of the staff towards their residents can only be described as exemplary. They are all caring and compassionate and show a great deal of love in

The Manager and her team looked after our mum in her final few weeks. We are so grateful to them for the kind, diligent and professional care they gave her, making sure her last days were as comfortable as possible, which is everything we could have wished for. We are particularly grateful for the excellent
updates we received, both in person and on the phone, whenever there was a change in mum’s condition. Thank you to everyone for making our mum’s passing as gentle as possible.

The nursing staff and care staff showed great kindness to my mother whilst she stayed at Winscombe Hall for respite after a fall. They even arranged and accompanied my mother to hospital for a check-up on one occasion when I was not available. They were encouraging in a firm but very kind way to get
my mother walking again and she made great progress in that respect. I did feel that on a couple of occasions, there were times when they were clearly short-staffed (like all care establishments regrettably right now) and this did reflect in the attention Mum was getting. However, this is not a criticism of the staff's attitude as they did their utmost to ensure Mum was as well looked after as possible.
I would also add that the communication from nursing and care staff to myself was brilliant and they were extremely supportive and encouraging to the family in our attempt to get mum back to independent living.
I would recommend Winscombe Hall for care for a loved one.

My father-in-law moved into Winscombe Hall very recently. As a family, we have been so pleased by the support and care he has received. He is very settled and happy and it has been such a positive transition. The communication is excellent and the staff provide consistent feedback. The house and grounds
are beautiful and every day my father-in-law will go out for a walk and enjoy the surroundings. The staff are caring, supportive and very professional and we feel reassured that he is receiving the very best care. A huge thank you to all the care team!

Mum went into Winscombe Hall Care Home for respite care in January 2023. She had a lovely room overlooking the gardens. The staff and management were very kind and caring and took time to make a detailed care plan, they did everything they could to make her stay comfortable. The nursing care she was
given was exactly what was needed to enable her to return to her own home again. Very grateful to everyone at the home.

Mum moved to Winscombe Hall in March 2021 and she was very happy there. Sadly Mum died in January 2023 but I cannot praise the staff enough for everything they did for her right until the very end. They took such good care of her and nothing was too much trouble. Mum had a really lovely room on the
first floor with an en-suite and dual-aspect windows overlooking the grounds. The grounds of Winscombe Hall are extensive and beautiful. When Mum first moved there we had to visit outside in a purpose-built hub due to Covid regulations and the visits were always very well managed. Three of Mum's 5 great-grandchildren were born during her time there and it was wonderful to be able to bring them to meet her not too long after their birth. I highly recommend Winscombe Hall to anyone who needs this level of care for a family member.

Mum had been in Winscombe since March 2021 and her care had been absolutely first-class. She was bedridden but she absolutely loved her room which she said was 'the best in the house'. There was genuine love for mum from the staff and they did everything to make sure she was comfortable. She, unfortunately,
deteriorated very quickly in early January so quickly that we didn't have time to say goodbye but the staff were fabulous sitting with her as she passed. They were kindness itself and many of them came to her room to express their sorrow and say goodbye. So thank you to all the staff for making mum's final months happy and comfortable. I would not hesitate to recommend this home to anyone looking for first-class care for a relative.

My dad commenced his stay at Winscombe Hall in October 2020, the Covid era. The staff at Winscombe made him very welcome and I have fond memories of his smiling face at that time. Visiting during 2021 was intermittent due to Covid restrictions, but my step mum continued to visit as often as allowed.
The staff were always pleased to see her and she became part of the furniture, which was lovely. Latterly his health deteriorated and sadly we lost dad in November. The last month was heartbreaking but I cannot speak highly enough of all of the staff during that period. From the senior manager, deputy manager and wonderful nurses through to all of the brilliant carers he was looked after like a king. Nothing was too much trouble. So in addition to recommending Winscombe Hall for future residents, I would also like to place on record my family's heartfelt thanks and appreciation to all of the wonderful team. Thank you.

The staff are all first-class. So caring, polite, helpful and understanding of my mum's needs and requirements. First-class care is given and such a personal touch that shows it's not just a job to them, but they actually do care about the person they are looking after and can't fault them. The cleaning
staff do such a great job and not a smell in the home, unlike some where as soon as you walk in you smell urine, but not here, clean from the top to bottom. So fresh and friendly to walk into every visit with full marks. Every time I visit mum she is so happy and content as they give a personal response to each individual, reassuring that you know your loved one is in safe hands. Staff accommodate your personal visit either in the lounge, your own room or in the beautiful gardens. As I have cared for my mum, I know how difficult it is to do, but now with my dad on end-of-life with cancer, we can rest assured that mum is in the best place and all her needs and requirements are in place giving you peace of mind your loved ones are ok.

I was contacted by staff relating to concerns about my mother. All of the staff that I spoke to were very helpful and went to great pains to keep me fully updated. Although my mother had not been in the home long it was clear that they had a good understanding of her health, personality and needs. I
felt as though I was fully involved in the decisions made and the strategies that would be undertaken and that my mother's welfare was their prime concern.

Mum has been a resident at Winscombe Hall for over three years and has been well cared for all that time. She has a lovely spacious sunny room with views of the garden. The staff understand her well, despite her dementia. The new manager seems to be doing a very good job and I was pleased to be involved
with Mum's recent care plan.
It has been a very tough time during Covid for staff, residents and their families - especially when visits were either not allowed or very restricted and lines of communication were not always ideal during this time but seem to be improving now.
I would be happy to recommend Winscombe Hall to anyone.

Unfortunately not the best experience. My sister was here for her final stages of life, around 10 days they were not equipped or familiar with this. Although the staff did their best, lack of communication and my sister suffered massively at the end due to only one nurse who could administer drugs for
around 40 patients. I saw my sister suffer so much it was heartbreaking. The buzzer volume which alerted staff was turned off at the station so they did not hear when ringing for assistance, it was appalling! Did not think this could happen in this day and age, 8 months later I am still in shock this could happen.
