I always get a warm welcome when I visit, my husband is happy and well looked after. He enjoys the food. He often thinks he's in a hotel! He loves sitting in the lounge and we enjoy the decor and view of the garden.
The TV room has a very good, big screen.
We both enjoyed the Christmas party yesterday.
The singer was good and encouraged us all to sing along. There were canapes on offer in the dining room with delicious sausage rolls.
Also, rock music and we actually managed to join in the dancing!
I am 90 and my husband is 92 in January. Two staff members and I supported my husband. He could have done with a bigger bed.

Reply from Alison Ruddock, Operations & Compliance Manager at Bromley Park Care Centre

I am delighted you are so satisfied with our service but mostly that you joined in the dancing! I take on board your comments about the bed and we will take those thoughts forward for our onward planning.

Bromley Park Care Centre

from P C (Sister of Resident) published on 27 September 2024
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My sister is a resident and I cannot fault the care and support I have also personally been given by senior staff - along with 'care and nursing staff - to help see her settle into Bromley Park Care Centre, since her arrival late 2023!
Overall, I have found all staff pleasant, caring, welcoming and
easy to communicate with and equally, have been contacted when necessary to discuss her care.
I find the ambience and furnishings, overall, of the home pleasant for those that wish to 'move around', including the lovely back garden grounds. Perhaps more 'activities' within for those that are 'able' to do so.
My sister has gradually settled down and it is with enormous gratitude I thank all whom have helped her do so! It is difficult sometimes for us, as their family/loved ones, to understand the world they now inhabit which, of course, is even more so for that person!
I would highly recommend Bromley Park Care Centre.

Reply from Silvia Barret, Operations & Compliance Manager at Bromley Park Care Centre

Thank you so much for such a lovely review. Makes me so happy to know that your sister was supported so well by staff to settle. I will share with the team your feedback and I am sure that they will feel motivated to continue with their love and support.

We would like to thank all of the wonderful staff at Meyer House for their love, care and support to my mother/grandma in her final few weeks and days.
We are eternally grateful for the dignity and love given to her during her end-of-life stay, and we know she was looked after, kept pain-free, included
in the activities when she felt able, and ultimately loved by all the staff.
Thank you all so much.

I think the care home could do with security cameras to make families as well as staff duties feel even more secure. The reason I say this is because my connection went into hospital with septic infection which was caused by a skin condition needing basic health care. The symptoms went undetected and
nearly caused death and if there were cameras, at least the situation with weeks/months leading up to the infection becoming septic, we would have proof of the negation. This would improve the awareness not only for families but for the management.

Reply from Alison Ruddock, Operations & Compliance Manager at Bromley Park Care Centre

Many thanks for your review. I have carefully reviewed the care of your partner and am reassured from the medical notes that the appropriate care was sought as soon as symptoms began and treatment was arranged. I note your suggestion that cameras in the home may be a good idea and we are currently considering this for communal areas taking into account the opinions of residents and relatives and the guidance received from our regulators. Please be assured we welcome your feedback and are happy to meet with you to ensure you are kept fully updated of any changes that may develop and you are involved in the care planning process, kind regards, Alison.

My mother was brought from hospital to Meyer house on 18.6.24 for end-of-life care. When I visited that day, I was very impressed with the cleanliness and professionalism of the staff. My mum's room was bright and airy. I was kept up to date about my mum's condition. Unfortunately due to my mum being
unable to drink or eat, she passed away three days later on 21.6.2024. I was informed immediately about Mum's passing. Many thanks to all the staff who were involved in the care of my mum.

On the whole we are satisfied with the quality of care. Issues arise during meal times, if a resident needs the toilet. There is no sense of urgency from staff, resident becomes agitated, concerned that they will embarrass themselves in the company of others. Concerns that pad changes are not carried
out regularly enough, risk of infection. The care staff are kind and respectful/ night staff are more difficult to know about. The kitchen staff are helpful to the residents, domestic staff are excellent. Activity staff are excellent. The maintenance is good but it's an old building that is in constant need of repair and renovation. The senior staff are always on hand to ensure that residents, family and staff are supported at all times. Concerns are acted on quickly but at times there can be a Lack of feedback/ information re appointments from outside agencies. The front desk staff are helpful, respectful and kind to family and residents. I apologise if I have missed anyone out.

Friendly staff, nice people, excellent service, I'm very happy with their care, very recommended my mum is comfortable and eating more and drinking more, which is a relief but her ankle is a concern with the blisters but I did see the nurse for certain cream to use but other than that everything is
excellent.

I am delighted that you feel able to give such positive feedback of the service your mum is receiving and that your medical concerns have been discussed with the nurses for onward review and attention. Dad is happy and well looked after however some of the staff are a bit 'out of tune' to the fact that we are visiting. For example, when he is taken upstairs to the toilet he is often gone for a very long time also on several occasions he has been brought back down and taken to the dining room but the
staff member has failed to tell us he is back from the loo and we are left sitting waiting. This encroaches on our precious visiting time. The kitchen staff are very good and know what Dad likes to eat and on my most recent visit, one of the staff was really good and very attentive helping Dad to eat. Thank you Meyer House for taking good care of my Dad.

Reply from Alison Ruddock, Operations & Compliance Manager at Meyer House Care Centre

Thank you for your feedback and I note your frustrations when your visiting time is reduced through what would appear to be a lack of communication. We will ensure this will be addressed with the team promptly. Kind regards Alison

Manager and staff are helpful and friendly, good atmosphere and appearance. When my partner went in, she looked happy there and I've seen no sign of a change in that.
Cooks also look like people who care about their work.
NHS supported this home.
This home appears to be miles better than the other
care home that my father was in, despite that being suggested by his GP.

When visiting my wife, I am always greeted with smiles from the staff. My wife is always looked after well. They shower, feed, dress her, etc. The staff are very helpful to me. It's nice to take her into the garden in the summer months.
My wife does not do any activities and does not know me anymore.
I am very pleased with Bromley Park.
Well done.

My husband has been in the care home fifteen months now. Unfortunately, he cannot participate in any activities as he is not able to. The main staff are excellent but not all of the agency are. They seem to have no initiative. Food is well cooked and varied and since the home has recently been decorated,
it is more homely. I have no complaints.

After a tricky time, things are improving. The Deputy Manager was very patient and listened to our concerns and was very apologetic on behalf of the care staff, although she was frustrated that I had to make her aware of a couple of things. Overall, Meyer House is a very good care home, always welcoming
and friendly. I know they all love my dad and feel confident he is well looked after.

We are satisfied with Dad's overall care. However, sometimes Dad has to wait a long time to be taken to the toilet which is quite distressing for him. We have also found nostalgic ornaments and photo frames have been broken and placed in a drawer. The breakages have never been reported by the staff.
We have raised this with the deputy manager by email but to date, we haven't received a response. It's upsetting that Dad's treasured possessions are not shown due respect. However, the staff are lovely, especially the entertainment staff and a number of the long-term care staff are exceptional. Dad always enjoys the food.

Reply from Alison Ruddock, Operations & Compliance Manager at Meyer House Care Centre

Many thanks for your feedback. I have investigated your concerns alongside another family member's similar feedback and I can only apologise for the upset this has caused. An urgent staff meeting was held to share the feedback and plan improvements with special emphasis on how to manage the resident's property. I am unable to discuss personal, confidential discussion points over this platform but would welcome the opportunity to meet with you to discuss your father's care in more detail where we can build his care plan and meet his and your expectations. I appreciate your positive comments relating to the care, recreation and catering staff who I agree do a sterling role. Please contact me via email if you are agreeable to a meeting and I will respond as soon as received. Kind regards, Alison

My father-in-law's room is bad. His chair was very dirty stains with stale food. Things broken or missing. Waits a long time to be taken to the toilet, found him in bed when he should be up.

Reply from Alison Ruddock, Operations & Compliance Manager at Meyer House Care Centre

Thank you for your feedback. I have investigated the circumstances that you raised and I am aware that the manager has contacted the family and responded in writing explaining the steps she has taken to address your concerns. This is far from the usual feedback we get and I would welcome the opportunity to meet with you and your family to plan a way forward in an effort to meet your expectations and improve your experience. I have visited the home since your comments to see how we can improve and I am pleased to say the standards I saw were positive and areas that could be improved were addressed immediately. A staff meeting was called and clear guidelines of how to manage resident's property were included amongst other discussion points. I sincerely apologise that broken items were not brought to your prompt attention and regret that this has caused you distress. Please contact me on my email below if you are available to meet up and discuss any further. Yours sincerely Alison
