The care centre is lovely it has a real friendly, homely feel to it. The staff are great, they are very caring and always available to talk to, they treat my aunt with care and respect.
The management team are very approachable and always keep me informed on how my aunt is doing and always let me know
if they have any concerns regarding my aunts health and always let me know if they have had to call for medical assistance for my aunt.
My aunt has been at the home for almost a year now, she is happy and has settled really well. It is great to know she is so happy and cared for so well.
Thank you to all the staff!

Lovely warm friendly staff - nice location and property. My mother received excellent care. We valued the fact that we could visit her at any time, and being local, this meant that we could call regularly. Mum was always well-presented, which meant a lot to us.

I am very pleased with the overall care my mother receives. She always looks well presented and content in her own little world. The staff ensure my mum gets her coffee and special biscuits and that her dietary needs are met.
The staff seem to genuinely care about the residents as individuals and
are very hands on.

My brother-in-law was placed in the home a week or so before he died. He was so well looked after by all the staff and we could not have wished a better end for him. All the staff also looked after us so well. We consider ourselves so lucky because my father had also been cared for by the very same
staff a few years before, they seem almost like a family. Thank you.

My mum went into Haydon-Mayer following a stay in hospital for continuing care. The care she received was amazing. The staff are so attentive and compassionate not only to mum but to us as a family too! My dad is now in there too as he needed nursing care and we wouldn't hesitate to to recommend Haydon-Mayer
to anyone looking for the upmost care for a loved one.

Sadly the deterioration in my mum cannot be corrected from her nearly 3 year stay. Some members of staff were kind, caring individuals that definitely make some of the darker times a little lighter. My mum has now moved and doing brilliantly.

Edward House

from F F (Daughter of Resident) published on 27 March 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

After having 3 bad experiences in different care homes, for the first time, I had genuine rest when my mother spent time as respite. I had fantastic support from the manager and everyone. I have to admit that I was so nervous and anxious to leave my mother, especially as English is not her first language,
but all the care and support I had received gave me reassurance. A call from Edward House mid-week to ask about mum's bowel movement only shows how staff look after the residents. They often ring back mums call from management asking how is my mum, again shows their care and attention to resident and family.

Reply from Kristie Marku, Registered Manager at Edward House

Whitstable Nursing Home

Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My mother was a resident of Whitstable Nursing Home from Novenber 2024 -February 2025. Her time there, although short, was very happy and she received excellent care from the Nursing staff. Everyone there was attentive and caring and my mother expressed to me on a number of occasions that she felt
happy and content at the home. The meals, freshly prepared from the on site kitchen were excellent and the residents nutritional needs are well catered for. As I did not live locally, the staff kept me well informed and I was always able to speak to my mother by telephone when not able to visit We will be forever grateful to the nursing staff for making my mother's end of life not just comfortable but peaceful and dignified. I would have no hesitation in recommending The Whitstable Nursing Home.

Chestfield House

from Mike L (Son of Resident) published on 21 March 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My father was admitted to Chestfield House many months ago for end-of-life care after the hospital stopped all his medication and discharged him. From the time he arrived he has received great care and gradually gained weight and improved health, though still frail. The Manager and staff are so attentive
and empathetic. My wife and I feel they are all friends now after many visits. The staff are all welcoming and cheer my father up with cheeky banter which he can dish out himself too. Dad is kept warm and comfortable and he raves about the food, even saying the roast potatoes are the best he's ever had! The meals are so much better than hospital food which is great to know. We cannot thank the manager, the Nurses and all the other staff enough for how they are looking after Dad and his needs. Regarding my individual gradings, the only fours are because his room is a little small and for some reason always at least 25 degrees or more, but no big problem.
Cannot fault anything else.

I stayed in WNH for approximately 8 weeks for respite care following a bad broken shoulder bone and needing 24 hour support.
Overall the care was good with particular individuals exceptional. Generally I was made to feel welcome and all the staff team made time to cheer the day up.
The nursing care
was good, the kitchen, laundry and cleaning staff were hard working and versatile.

We always feel welcome and supported whenever we enter the doors to Eastfields. We find the staff and management are always on hand for any help we need. Mum enjoys all the variety of foods and drinks on offer to her, she enjoys the activities that are arranged especially balloon games or books. Mum
has been looked after very well and has often called it her home. The home is cleaned daily. Families are always invited to any events taking place which are a very good social occasion to attend.

On the whole, given the crisis in the care industry, Haydon-Mayer perform as well as can be expected. The carers and staff treat our father with sensitivity and respect and he is happy here. It's a great shame that at present there is not an activities coordinator on site. There always seemed to be
a buzz about the place but sadly no more.
