My daughter moved into the chestnuts in April 2022, the staff made my daughter and family very welcome, everyone was so kind, and also very reassuring and of course, as parents, we were worried moving our daughter into a new home. She has been there eight months now and has settled in so well. The staff
are all very caring and liaise with us on her care and her routine. Our daughter eats really well and has put on weight. She has also become very vocal which is wonderful to hear.
She has been seen by the community physio team and has an exercise plan in place. She has been also able to access the hydrotherapy pool at Epsom, which she loves. At the Chestnuts, there are lots of activities for the residents to join in with including trips out and parties.

My husband is very well cared for and I’m very grateful to the staff for their care, love and support towards him. The staff reassure me and they are so open to answer any of my questions. The team has included me and given me an update regarding my husband, it been a tough and challenging year of Covid19
for everyone. I really appreciate the staff for their special and experienced care. Thank you so much to all.

I always find the staff supportive. I feel the house is very well managed and our service user trusts her and the staff. The level of support given is amazing. I feel that our service user is able to live as much of a normal life as possible. He is always encouraged and supported to complete tasks,
stay safe and achieve set goals. It's been extremely tough during these times, but the house has made it safe and also ensures our service user stays safe.

I have a voice and am able to take control of my daily needs. I feel valued for my abilities, not for my disabilities. I am supported to attend my full-time job at Treloar, staff enable me to feel safe because I know I can ask them to come at any time to support me. I am able to decide what I want to
eat every day by being supported to complete a weekly menu plan, but I can change my mind if I want something different. I can go to visit my mum and brother when I want at weekends, the staff will take me but of course, the Pandemic has made this difficult. My health needs are complex but I am confident that the staff are able to manage them safely and in my best interests.

My son has complex physical and learning disabilities and has lived at Jasmine House for nearly 3 years. As a parent my son's safety and dignity are paramount, I do not worry, the approach is person-centred and the standard of care is excellent. The staff are wonderful and genuinely care, they often
go the extra mile. If I have any concerns they are responded to immediately. The house is managed very well, communication is excellent, I am always welcomed when visiting. The manager and staff have been very pro-active in the current situation keeping residents and staff safe. A lovely garden summer house has been built so visitors can meet safely and distanced behind a screen. This in turn helps my son as he enjoys the continuity of routine visits.

I can’t thank all the dedicated staff at The Chestnuts enough for providing my sister a loving and comfortable home. She’s always happy and cared for to the highest standards.
It’s been such a difficult time for everyone, yet the lovely staff answer my calls every day and even set up video calls.
They're always on hand to answer any worries I might have with regards to the current situation. It is so obvious to me that their main priority is keeping all the residents safe during these worrying time. I thank you all so much, my whole family are so grateful.

All the carers are thoughtful and kind and treat the residents as if they were members of there own family. During the lockdown they have exceeded all expectations to us they are all unsung heroes. I would highly recommend this home. My only grievance is that it is far from where I live but don't think
I would have got the kind of care closer to home.

Tall Oaks

from Kelly B (Relative of Resident) published on 7 September 2020
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

Our son has been a resident at Tall Oaks since October 2019 and we love it. The staff have made every effort to make him feel welcome and have involved us in every decision and made his transition into his new home go really smoothly. When Covid-19 hit the world the team followed every possible guidance
and kept the house safe, although it was hard not to see our son for a period of time we were telephoned and emailed to make us aware of how things were doing in the house. They had to make sure all the residents were safe and protected and their hard work has been proven as there have been no cases of Covid within Tall Oaks. We as a family cannot thank the manager and her team enough for looking after our son and his fellow residents.

My daughter has been very well cared for in the 14 years she has lived at Tall Oaks. She is happy and settled. During the pandemic when all her regular activities have been stopped and she has been unable to have contact with family, they have done a fantastic job of helping her to cope with something
intensely difficult for her. We expected a lot of meltdowns and self-harm but in fact, this has been fairly minimal and it has been down to the hard work of the staff in keeping her calm, happy and enjoyably occupied.

I really can’t thank the staff enough for the care they have shown to my daughter and other residents during this troublesome period, to say my daughter has been protected and cared for is an understatement. My daughter has a really low immunity to infection and this has been quite a worrying time for
me but the staff at Blue Cedars have cared for and protected my daughter. God bless all the staff for the care and professionalism they have shown, I can’t thank you enough.

Beginning, during and now re-covid.
As a sister of one of the residents, I have been nothing but impressed and reassured through these uncertain times that my sister has been very much cared for, and the correct and very disciplined measures have been kept, and still are.
I have had a few video calls
and can see my sister has been and continues to be very well looked after, she's happy and very comfortable living in Chestnuts, she's well monitored when not feeling 100% and the staff do all they can to make her smile and feel comfortable.
I'm very pleased they have helped us keep contact through regular video calls, and we get to see each other.

The Chestnuts is a lovely place for your family member to live.
Every morning he is given a shower and a shave, his medication is given on time, the staff are very friendly and talk to the residents, the food is excellent, everyone is clean and the home smells pleasant.
Residents do get taken out
regularly and have a holiday every year.
There are weekly activities and the residents are taken to their day centres.
A lovely place.

The Chestnuts is a delightful and happy home, the care team always appears cheerful and ready to assist. I fully understand that the personal safety and security of residents is first priority, however, the current arrangements make it extremely difficult for visiting parents and family to obtain access
to the home which is my only complaint.

Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

I have been a resident at Jasmine House for 7 months and think it is a really nice care home and environment. What I like here is that I get to lead my own independent life and I am able to choose what I wish to do with my weekdays and weekends.
For example, with the support of staff, I have been able
to access adult education in Farnham. Staff have helped me and my family adapt my bedroom for my needs and personalise my room. I feel valued. I work with staff to help support my physical and dietary needs and to support the staff I have joined a local group.

Health needs were reviewed due to poor health. This resulted in a positive outcome. My carers and house manager were all excellent in providing care over and above their normal duties and ensuring that all the relevant healthcare professionals were informed and involved as necessary.
