I have just spent ten days convalescing following cardiac surgery at The Old Rectory. It was an excellent experience. The staff were caring and kind and gave me a lot of autonomy. The food was excellent and they catered extremely well with my intolerance of gluten and dairy. The nursing home is in a
beautiful setting, all very conducive to helping recovery.

My father has been a resident at the Old Rectory for over three years. We have had brilliant support as a family with his transition from him living independently alone to a care home environment. I cant say he 'wanted' to move into care, as he believed he was quite capable of being in his own home!
The fact is he could no longer do that without a full time live-in carer. Which he equally did not want. Thanks to the help and understanding of the Old Rectory, Dad (slowly) made his transition and recognises the value of having a specialist team there (24/7) to help him. He has a relatively formal side to his character which must be challenging for some people to deal with, but it is lovely to see his relationships with the different team members at the Old Rectory who have each found their own way to engage effectively with him. You can't make it up with Dad, and it is great to see the enjoyment he gets from each little interaction with the team.

Thank you so much for your thoughtful and heartfelt review. We deeply appreciate you taking the time to share your father's journey with us. Every individual brings their own personality and needs, and we're committed to finding the best way to connect and support them. Our Mum was very poorly when she arrived at The Old Rectory, and from that minute the staff could not have been kinder, more caring, or more concerned for her welfare. She has been treated with dignity and huge respect, and all her needs were taken care of, and she was brought back to being much more
like herself. The room is spotless, the food is remarkable, and the nurses are always available if we have any concerns. We wanted our Mum to be at The Old Rectory when she became unable to look after herself with help at home, and so were so happy when she was offered a room. The home is really well run and responds to its community creatively and sensitively. Thank you all.

Mum looks better now than she has done for years as she is being well cared for, has delicious nutritious food, regular medication and frequent physiotherapy to support her physical needs. She has daily opportunities to meet up with other residents for drinks, meals and activities and this social interaction
is so important for her mental stimulation. The staff at The Old Rectory are all lovely with Mum and treat her with respect, care and kindness. She has formed friendships with staff through chatting as they go about their work and is genuinely interested when staff share some of their family background with her. My experience of visiting Mum is always positive, staff greet me with courtesy and are always cheerful and friendly. We are very lucky that The Old Rectory could offer Mum a room and provide the care that she needs now. Needless to say Mum is very happy living here.

My mum (in her early 90s ) was about to have a knee replacement. At the last minute we decided that her going into respite care for a week after the operation would help her recovery. Despite the last-minute request The Old Rectory were very responsive and did everything they could to find her a room.
My mum could not speak higher of her experience - the staff were extremely friendly and very good at their jobs. Food was excellent. The house and her room was lovely. During her stay my mum was in a lot of pain which the staff handled so brilliantly. Thank you to all the management and team for making her stay as good as it could have been.

Since my mother has been at The Old Rectory, her health and well-being have improved immeasurably. She was made to feel welcome and valued from the outset. Staff and the manager took the trouble to find out what is important to her and how best they could help her adjust to her new home and a different
way of living. They are not only kind and thoughtful, but the care they provide demonstrates they have in-depth and insightful understandings of the needs of older people.
Family members are also made to feel welcome and supported. It is reassuring to know that my mother is living in such a beautiful, clean and secure environment surrounded by people who really care about her. The Old Rectory has a comforting family feel, where the days' events fit in around the needs of the residents - a lesson many corporate-run care homes could learn from. It is little wonder my mother decided on the day she arrived that she didn't want to be anywhere else.

After a fall which resulted in a fractured pelvis, we were advised that mum, aged 102, would need more care than we could provide at home and we set out to find a residential home for her. After looking at several in the area we chose The Old Rectory, as it is small and homely, welcoming, warm and clean
throughout. All the staff are very friendly and nothing is too much bother for them, mum is well cared for and is very happy there. Her room is always clean, whatever time of day we visit. The food is plentiful and excellent quality with alternatives always available. Activities are on offer in the afternoons for any who wish to join in but there is no pressure to go. We have not regretted our decision and would not hesitate to recommend them.

The attraction of The Old Rectory is its commitment to provide a home for those that must relocate. The location is attractive with a country home set in a large, well-maintained garden. There is an easily accessible car park. The building was converted from a church rectory and extended, all the rooms
have a distinct individuality without a clinical ambience.
Residents have the option to bring items from their own homes to make the rooms look and feel familiar. The food is flavorful and nutritionally balanced. The management and staff include qualified nurses and carers – all make every effort to see to the welfare of the residents. An effort is made to create a family atmosphere among the residents. There are frequent, diverse in-house activities, i.e. quizzes, visiting entertainers or classes, that the residents may choose to attend. Special festive days, such as Christmas, are celebrated lavishly. Residents are provided a supportive, friendly and homely community.
