My wife is treated with respect & understanding of her worsening condition. Staff are both kind & friendly. The home allows myself & family unlimited access & in so doing enables us to continue a close & much appreciated relationship. My wife, by choice, is not a keen participant of activities.

Reply from Zoe walker, Deputy Manager at Chelmsford Care Centre

Thank you for sharing your experience. It's heartening to hear that your wife is treated with such respect and understanding. The kindness and friendliness of the staff, along with the home's policy of allowing unlimited access for family, truly seem to foster a supportive and close-knit environment. It's wonderful that you and your family can maintain a cherished relationship with her. Your feedback highlights the compassionate care provided, and it's greatly appreciated.

Mum arrived at the beginning of January 25. Very apprehensive about coming into a care home, but not even 24 hours later, mam was raving about the staff. Very friendly, professional and caring. I have the same sentiments. Always open and honest. Will help in whichever way is needed. The Star is a lovely
home.

Mum has received excellent care since she arrived. The care and nursing staff are very engaging with all the residents. Always time for a chat, a smile or to reassure them. The catering is plenty and freshly cooked with a choice of dishes each day. There are numerous activities throughout the month.
The public areas and residents rooms are clean and well presented, with a lovely outdoor space. I would highly recommend.

My dad was admitted to the Garden Unit Feb 24. He had late stages dementia and was very aggressive at times. I visited every day and only witnessed kindness and patience to all of the residents, including my dad.
The staff were all very nice and friendly.
Towards the end of his life I felt involved
in all decisions and was kept involved in all decisions, made to feel welcome by both day and night staff to visit at all times of the day and night. I also felt confident to leave my dad, knowing the staff would contact me regarding any changes

Reply from Zoe Walker, Deputy Manager at Chelmsford Care Centre

My mum arrived here after having a fall and sustained brain injury, she had already spent some time in rehabilitation and needed extra care and help to regain her health and strength. I was a little dubious of The Star as the location and building from the outside is not the prettiest! However, we were
absolutely blown away by the amazing care from the staff who were able to help mum regain the skills to enable her to move on to living in extra care accommodation and living independently back with her husband. Thank you for all the help and support - I would absolutely recommend you for anybody looking for a caring and nurturing environment for their loved ones. Incredible team.

Since my grandmother has become a service user at the star nursing home I have seen such an improvement in her mental and physical health.
The home's social media page shows weekly updates and activities that are provided and it's lovely to see my grandmother participating in them.
The staff are very
approachable when I have phoned to speak to my grandmother and when I've visited.
My family and I were apprehensive when my grandmother first went into full time care after living independently all her life but have been more than happy with the care she has received and the acceptance into their family.

I cannot fault the care my mom receives at Primrose Hill from management, carers, domestics, activity team , kitchen staff and anyone else I have missed. My mom unfortunately can be very hard work and a lot of the time needs close monitoring. I am kept informed with any ongoing issues and am listened
to with issues I have. When settled and having an easier time mom likes to join in with the activities and when not know she makes the carers smile in her own ways.
Her room is lovely and always clean as is her clothing and bedding.
Thankyou to all the staff for your continued support with moms care.

Mom was placed at primrose hill as an emergency for 7 weeks. She struggled for the first week, but with the care and patience of the staff she settled down and enjoyed her time there, having little jokes with the staff. She enjoyed her time on Red Rose Lane, the food was excellent, the carers, nurses,
laundry, receptionists were excellent and lovely. A very friendly place, made to feel at home. Nothing was too much trouble.

My dad (with later stage dementia & recovering from aspiration pneumonia) was sent here from hospital.I witnessed him being given medication from the floor after he had spat it out.The nurse picked it up and put it back into his mouth.I thought this must have been a one off ,but she then proceeded to
do it to the second patient who spat hers out also. This was raised with management & I was told it wasn't good enough & the nurse wouldn't be staying at the home. The floor manager said she wished to get rid of her &wanted it in writing so it would help her do this (?!) Only to find a few days later her still administering meds. Many occasions dad was given the wrong thickness food/drink.I witnessed this a lot with other patients on restricted diets also. The chef would often shout at the staff (often agency)as they weren't checking before putting the meals in front of the patients.Dads swallow reflux deteriorated but they would not arrange for a specialist to help dad unless I pushed for it

Mum has been in Lanrick House for some 13 months following a move from the south. From the moment she arrived, the family have been more than happy with the care provided. We are now able to visit regularly and just turn up when we want. The staff not only engage with the residents but family too. There
are activities, some of which family/friends are invited to which we have enjoyed. Mum always compliments the food and there seems to be a varied menu to suit all. As Mum gets older, Lanrick House is the safe environment we would want for her and have made the best choice for her needs.

Reply from Claire Anscombe, Registered manager at Lanrick House

Thank you so much for your lovely review. Our staff at Lanrick have a passion for their role and feel that it is so important to engage with our residents so they feel comfortable, valued and respected. We do pride ourselves on the homemade food that we offer and this is also down to our residents feedback on the meals that they enjoy and we incorporate this into our menus. We feel the importance of providing a safe environment that caters for individual needs and that feels like home.
