Mom was placed at primrose hill as an emergency for 7 weeks. She struggled for the first week, but with the care and patience of the staff she settled down and enjoyed her time there, having little jokes with the staff. She enjoyed her time on Red Rose Lane, the food was excellent, the carers, nurses,
laundry, receptionists were excellent and lovely. A very friendly place, made to feel at home. Nothing was too much trouble.

We needed to move my mum very quickly out of a long term hospital stay and the manager of Lanrick House was fundamental in arranging this for us. She is extremely professional and highly knowledgeable in all aspects of care. My mum stayed at Lanrick House for 3 weeks and we found the home to be clean,
welcoming and the staff to be very caring and kind. The food is excellent.

Mum has been at Lanrick for two and a half years and has had great care and support throughout her stay. Staff have always sought to involve her in day to day activities and are forever kind and cheerful with her. She is looked after far better than I could manage on my own.

Chelmsford Care Centre

My dad (with later stage dementia & recovering from aspiration pneumonia) was sent here from hospital.I witnessed him being given medication from the floor after he had spat it out.The nurse picked it up and put it back into his mouth.I thought this must have been a one off ,but she then proceeded to
do it to the second patient who spat hers out also. This was raised with management & I was told it wasn't good enough & the nurse wouldn't be staying at the home. The floor manager said she wished to get rid of her &wanted it in writing so it would help her do this (?!) Only to find a few days later her still administering meds. Many occasions dad was given the wrong thickness food/drink.I witnessed this a lot with other patients on restricted diets also. The chef would often shout at the staff (often agency)as they weren't checking before putting the meals in front of the patients.Dads swallow reflux deteriorated but they would not arrange for a specialist to help dad unless I pushed for it

Lanrick House

from Susan W (Daughter of Resident) published on 6 March 2025

Mum has been in Lanrick House for some 13 months following a move from the south. From the moment she arrived, the family have been more than happy with the care provided. We are now able to visit regularly and just turn up when we want. The staff not only engage with the residents but family too. There
are activities, some of which family/friends are invited to which we have enjoyed. Mum always compliments the food and there seems to be a varied menu to suit all. As Mum gets older, Lanrick House is the safe environment we would want for her and have made the best choice for her needs.

Reply from Claire Anscombe, Registered manager at Lanrick House

Thank you so much for your lovely review. Our staff at Lanrick have a passion for their role and feel that it is so important to engage with our residents so they feel comfortable, valued and respected. We do pride ourselves on the homemade food that we offer and this is also down to our residents feedback on the meals that they enjoy and we incorporate this into our menus. We feel the importance of providing a safe environment that caters for individual needs and that feels like home.

I can't express enough gratitude for the exceptional care my father receives at Chelmsford Care Centre, in particular "Lillibet Zone" from the manager and her incredible team. After my father's brain haemorrhage, we were understandably worried about his recovery, but the manager and her team truly went
above and beyond to make him feel at home. They became like family to him, offering not only professional medical support but emotional care that gave him a sense of purpose and dignity. The dedication and kindness that the entire team shows him is beyond anything that we could hope for. It's clear that the team at Chelmsford Care Centre genuinely cares about each resident's well-being, and we as a family are so thankful for the positive impact they have had on my father's life. We will forever be grateful for the care and support he receives from everyone there.

I cannot speak highly enough for the care and respect that the staff give to our Dad.
Lanrick House is a very professionally run home that has a well-run regime and a safe, enriching environment. There is excellent access to management and regular opportunities for families to have an input into how
the home is being run.
But the most important thing is how the staff interact with my Dad in a personal and caring way. I can always be confident that our Dad is safe and getting the best care.
Thank you to all the staff for the work you do.

Since my son has been here, he has achieved a lot and gained confidence in the things he does now. His speech has improved which has helped with his behaviour and frustrations, as he can get over what he needs to say. Staff are very helpful and friendly and help those, who find it difficult to manage
their emotions and self-help issues. Rookhurst Lodge is a family environment, a very Happy place and relaxing place for residents and their families. Rookhurst Lodge gives residents the opportunity to take part in, outside community activities and in-house activities.

My father was a resident at Chelsmford Care Centre for three months towards the end of 2024 and I have been delighted with the high standards of care and support he received during this time. The staff are incredible and treated my father with care, support and dignity. They are clearly passionate in
what they do and treat the the service users with warmth and kindness. They were always very welcoming and friendly when visiting and were able to converse about my father when required. The building itself is situated in a lovely country setting and very secure. It was always clean and well-maintained and the food always looked and smelt delicious.
