My husband went into Grove Park as they said nursing caring would be offered. There were issues from the start to do with him not being supported with eating, subsequently weight loss. He was often cold and inadequately dressed, despite requesting he needed more layers. In November he got a stomach
upset but I wasn't informed. The resulting lack of care had him ending up in hospital with severe dehydration and hypo delirium. He died a few days later. At no time did any of the managers telephone to ask how he was. One of the nurses didn't even know he'd died when his things were collected. The place is poorly managed, doesn't have enough experienced staff, the issue of English as a second language and often not being understood or understanding is a problem as well. They took him in saying they could take care of him and my experience is that definitely wasn't the case. I certainly would not recommend this place.

My mother-in-law has been at Grove Park for over two years now. She has severe dementia, is bed-bound and requires 24/7 attention. Everyone from the security guards, the food delivery guys, the nursing staff and the admin staff have been absolutely incredible with her and us. Mum has had several trips
to the hospital due to her advanced state, breathing problems etc and they have always been spectacularly caring. Also for my father-in-law who is 93 and is hard for him to hear and walk, they are always looking after him when he comes and visits her. Me and my husband cannot thank the staff enough for all they have done for her. Thank you all.

Birch Grove Nursing Home

Birch Grove is a fantastically caring Nursing Home. My friend stayed there after a spell in hospital, to assess whether she would be able to return to her home or not. In time, it was clear that my friend needed Nursing Home care. She stayed in Birch Grove and her final 18 months of life were filled
with kindness, fun activities and making new friends. Before Birch Grove my friend had become isolated; living in Birch Grove, she took part in many wonderful events and celebrations. She was also supported to go on a trip out for lunch, something she hadn't managed for quite some time. I would recommend Birch Grove to anyone who is considering a Nursing Home for their loved one. The staff are very kind and compassionate and the team is very well led by a great manager.

My mum arrived at Birch Grove Nursing Home after being in hospital and I was very nervous, as I never thought that she would require nursing home care. However, the care and respect shown by all of the staff have been very humbling and I can not thank them enough for everything they did.
Outstanding,
compassionate and excellent care was provided and I am very grateful to all concerned.

Birch Grove Nursing Home

Having lived her final 13 months at Birch Grove, our mother passed away there, peacefully, in early February.
The care she received in that year, and particularly in her final days, was more than we could have wished for. Though the loss was very painful, the care and attention Mum, and us as her
family, received at that time from the staff was precious and has left very special memories that will help us through.
The management and staff genuinely care about their residents and go above and beyond to make this very much 'their home'. Everyone is treated as an individual, respected for who they are, and celebrated at every opportunity.
Though the initial transitioning couple of months from her own flat to nursing care was a difficult/upsetting time for Mum, she very quickly grew to realise this was a safe place, a place to be with people, to socialise (or not), to be creative, to have fun, dance and laugh. There is always something happening at BG. Thank you for everything!!

My 92-year-old mum came to Birch Grove for re-assessment in December 2023 and was welcomed by the staff. They quickly worked out my mum's personality which was fun and happy and liked to banter and they engaged with her stopping to chat as they passed her door and waving hello as they passed. The
kitchen was quite happy to make Mum something different if she didn't like the dinner. When Mum was finally accepted as a full-time resident the management went to great lengths to offer Mum a room which was bigger and more private but Mum liked the smaller room she had been in which was normally used for short stays only, so this was redecorated and made mum's permanent room which she loved. Mum passed away in May so was only at home for 5 months but in that time she had settled and felt totally at home and loved all the staff so I cannot thank them enough. If you want a home that feels very friendly and family-orientated with caring and friendly staff then Birch Grove fits the bill.

My mother was transferred to the care of Birchgrove Nursing Home from Hospital admission, for respite care, which turned into a long-term stay.
The high level of care from management down was evident every time we visited Mum every few weeks. Her whole demeanour lightened up! She smiled and laughed
more whenever my husband and I visited. She enjoyed being in the company of other residents or by herself.
Mum participated in the majority of events, often encouraging others; and this was supported by the care staff.
The management team, carers, and kitchen staff all participated in various activities with residents, which in turn encouraged Mum to get involved. This also encouraged us as a family.
The staff always ensured Mum had what she needed from clothing, food, personal care, etc. Even down to allowing her access to a small patio area to her room and putting a bird table there, to enjoy seeing birds feeding as well as mischievous squirrels!

Without exception, all staff were caring, attentive and professional. They were all aware of my mother's name, room number and needs and provided the medical and personal care she required. They also went above and beyond by supporting my father during this difficult and stressful time. The building
and furniture are new, in good condition and of good quality. The grounds are conclusive to a comfortable and healing environment.

My stay at Grove Park was prolonged due to 'care plan' difficulties. I found the staff excellent, friendly and efficient across the board. I was surprised to discover that many were experienced and qualified nurses in their own country of origin, but were denied this status in the UK. I feel that in-service
training would help them to achieve this and acknowledge their expertise! Meals were variable and usually cold.

My husband has Alzheimer's, I had a stay in the hospital recently, as he can't stay at home alone we had to find him care. He has been well looked after and quite happy at Grove Park Healthcare. The staff are kind and caring, making him welcome and at home. Would not hesitate to recommend the care given,
and also to return in future if necessary.

My mother moved here six weeks ago but unfortunately passed away last weekend. During the last eight days of her life, she was made comfortable but we did have some problems with her pain relief and I actually had to go and get her some. There were also some issues with some communication problems between
staff members. There are some amazing nurses and senior nurses there. I do feel some staff should have end-of-life training and there were at times issues with staff not understanding our situation.

My mum went into Grove Part Care Home following three weeks in hospital. She needed to be rehabilitated while waiting for a care package, spending around eight weeks here. During this time, she was very well looked after, the carers were kind, compassionate, patient and understanding in all her needs.
She regained the ability to walk by herself with a walker, to be able to use the toilet once more and do general things again.
Mum enjoyed being able to eat cooked meals in the community dining area, this really encouraged her to eat more! She was encouraged to sit in the community lounge where carers would often spend time with her.

My husband is well cared for and the staff have taken time to get to know and understand him. The home facilities are good, especially as being purpose-built. A great deal of effort was made to help the residents and families enjoy the Christmas and New Year period. The staff are very aware of residents'
needs and dietary preferences. Cannot fault the home or staff - thank you.

My mother came to Grove Park Healthcare as her 24-hour home care was not sufficient. She wandered at night and required help with all her hygiene and feeding tasks. Grove Park Healthcare welcomed her and the staff could not do enough for her. The nursing care was excellent, as was her daily care. Sadly,
she became very sick and the support for our family was second to none. I can't fault any part of her or our care. Thank you.
