I'm not sure I will find the right words to write this review, but Linfield House and all the staff are fabulous, professional, kind, patient and very understanding. Both of my parents were at Linfield, my Dad, sadly for palliative care, and my mum as she suffers from dementia. There is no other place
like Linfield, and I truly will always be grateful for everything they did for both of my parents. You feel like one of the family, and the residents are treated by the carers like their own family. Thank you to all the staff at Linfield; you all are special people and all wonderful too. A special thanks to all the team.

Thank you so much for your kind review of Linfield House Lucie, and for taking the time to share your experience. We appreciate your kind recognition of our staff's professionalism, kindness, and compassion. Our mum was a resident at the home for a happy three years and sadly passed away recently. During all this time the empathy, professionalism and skill of the team was first-class. The care Mum received was excellent and the support to our family was always a priority even when extra work was created.
I
couldn't recommend Linfield Guild Care any higher.

Mum has been in this home for over two years now, and she absolutely loves it there. It has given her a new lease of life. The staff are always fantastic, friendly, and very caring. The food is great, and the chef takes the time to talk with mum to make sure the food is to her taste. There are two activities
a day so there is always something to do. I saw mum recently and as soon as I entered her room, she beamed at me and proclaimed I stroked a donkey, so they even manage to arrange animal visits. For me, I value greatly that mum is loved, happy, and looked after very well. In fact, if I could move into Caer Gwent, I would!! A big thanks to 3 staff members in particular and the whole team.

Haviland House

from Sue P (Wife of Resident) published on 23 January 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My husband's dementia manifests in his challenging behavior. I visited many care homes before finding Haviland House. Many of them were converted Victorian Houses which meant there were often stairs to be negotiated before the residents could access their bedrooms. Some could not provide the support
my husband needed in feeding, personal care, and general looking after. In Haviland House I found a dedicated dementia care home. The building is divided into 5 houses. Each house is a separate unit where there is a spacious corridor with the residents bedrooms, a comfortable lounge and dining room all on the same level. Each house has a secure door so that the residents are safe and secure whatever their level of dementia is. Every month there is a selection of entertainment which is put up in the house so that staff, residents and residents relatives know what is going on. The staff are incredible and Haviland House is now my second home and the staff my extended family.

Haviland house today and for the last year have been exceptional in the care they give to my mother-in-law. They know her needs inside out, she always looks comfortable and happy!
The staff are all so very friendly and easy to approach. They will always inform you monthly of how she is doing and at
anytime if needed.
I wouldn't want my mum in law in any other care home, they go above and beyond in all duties of care to her.

I had reached the point in looking after mum who has dementia where I could no longer safely care for her at home. I researched Care Homes and had already been to Haviland House Day Centre for afternoon tea. Following a lovely tour Mum initially went to stay for a couple of weeks Respite. This became
permanent and Haviland is now her home.
We wanted the best care possible and we have not been disappointed. They have demonstrated that our trust in their care was not misplaced. All the staff, whatever their role, are always friendly with a smile, thoughtful, courteous and above all caring and patient. They are there for their residents but also for their families. Communications are very good and I have been kept involved throughout the year as things have developed. The whole environment is excellent from her own room, common areas and the many activities that take place. I feel that Mum could not be in better hands or in a better place. I have no reservations in recommending Haviland House.

Our Mum moved to Haviland House in April 2024 and settled in much more quickly than expected. She has been living with Vascular dementia for around 17 years, but is now at a stage where she needs the support of a care home environment.
She spent a year at another care home in Worthing which was a
complete disaster (so stressful and upsetting) and we are so glad to have now found Haviland House. It is a huge relief to know that she is well looked after, by staff who genuinely care for her wellbeing and treat her as the lovely person she is.
She is eating and drinking better, entertained better (thanks to the regular activities available) and always seems cared for, with washed hair, in clean clothes. The environment on Angmering corridor is welcoming and homely, and also always warm and clean.
Special mention to one member of staff in particular who seems to go out of her way to keep an eye on our Mum, answers the phone in her room, and is so friendly and reassuring to us and our kids when we visit. Thank you!

My sister has been a resident on Whitcombe Suite for four years, she has been very well cared for, and staff have dealt with her changing needs with care and consideration. She has remained cheerful and is always greeted with a smile and a chat from the laundry staff, cleaners, carers and nurses. The
food is really good with a choice which is appreciated. She loves the company and numerous activities in the lounge arranged by the activities staff who organise wonderful entertainment. From the friendly reception as you enter to the welcome cups of tea and cake in the afternoon I thank you.

from Jane S (Daughter of Resident) published on 7 November 2024

My mum had Alzheimer's and dementia and we got to the stage where we felt Mums needs would best be met in residential care.
Mum settled in well, was eating better than she had been at home and joining in with the mostly daily activities. Unfortunately, she had a fall in the night, she was examined
in hospital but was returned to Linfield House. The care staff supported Mum to improve her mobility.
Unfortunately, Mum's dementia deteriorated very suddenly, and despite the very best efforts of the staff, Mum's condition declined and she died in late September.
I was so impressed with the genuine care, affection and respect afforded my Mum whilst she resided in Linfield, including domiciliary, care, nursing and management staff. The staff also cared for us, her daughters as Mum reached the end of her life, I just can't praise and thank them enough.

My mum moved into Linfield House in June 2024, in the late stages of Alzheimer's. After it became unsafe for her to be at home. Mum was losing the ability to eat and drink and the staff continually encouraged her to try and eat. As soon as entering Linfield's you can feel the warmth and friendship.
From the very start the staff made Mum feel loved and cared for. Every member of the team were friendly and caring and nothing was too much trouble for them. The staff at the home encouraged Mum to join in with activities when she could. The staff at the home had very good communication and if there were any issues I was contacted straight away to keep me informed. Sadly Mum lost her fight in September, the last four months of her life were better for her being at Linfield's. Anybody who is having doubts for their family member please feel reassured that this a welcoming and amazing home, I only wish that we had moved her there sooner.

Reply from Kevin Burke, Director of Care Homes and Dementia Services at Linfield House

Thank you for sharing your heartfelt review about your mum's experience at Linfield House. We are deeply moved to know that from the very start, our staff could provide her with the warmth, love and care she needed. We take great pride in fostering a supportive and welcoming environment, and it means so much to hear that your mum felt comforted and valued during her time with us. Encouraging residents to join activities and ensuring they are treated with dignity and compassion is at the heart of what we do. We are truly sorry for your loss but we hope it brings comfort to know that her final months were filled with care and friendship at Linfield House. My husband joined Haviland House in September 2023. He had various dementias and aphasia following a stroke. He had a few hospital visits before end-of-life care. He was as happy as he could be at Haviland and the staff were amazing and helped him feel as dignified as was possible. He smiled and found
ways to thank his carers by shaking the hands of the males and kissing the hands of the females. I thank all of the staff who cared for him when I couldn't. He sadly passed on June 11th but chose to raise funds for Guild Care and dementia.

Mum was nervous and self-conscious when she moved in. She worried about fitting in and about being lost or forgotten. She need not have worried! From day one the staff have been so kind and considerate. In the first few weeks, they walked her to the dining room and back, and to any activities. They
continued until she had her bearings and had made friends. Truly discreet in how they did this, so she did not feel foolish or uncomfortable. The activities are well varied and I believe Mum is conversing and thinking more clearly as well as being happy.

My 93-year-old mother was understandably very anxious about leaving her home of 48 years to move to a care home. Six weeks later, she now regards Caer Gwent as her home and is so much happier, healthier, and carefree. The staff, without exception, are amazing - so friendly and attentive, providing real
care throughout the day and night. The home itself is bright, cheerful and very well equipped and has a lovely enclosed garden which my mother's room overlooks. The food is excellent which my mother appreciates as she retains a good appetite, is hearty, healthy, plentiful, and has lots of choices. The activities programme is so, so good, it has genuinely transformed my mother who had become housebound and had little interaction with others, she now revels in the company and variety of things to do - apparently, the time now flies by! I am so pleased with Caer Gwent, I am certain that we could not have done any better anywhere else.

Our Mum has been a resident at Haviland for nearly 5 years. Haviland is a wonderful place, with such caring staff, who treat the residents with such respect and kindness. She has made some lovely friendships with other residents and also the staff.
The home is beautiful, spacious and very clean.
The bedrooms are lovely.
There is always a warm welcome and family atmosphere, a relaxed place for residents and their families to feel at home.
Regular activities and entertainment and a beautiful garden for all the families to use.
Nice to see carers have time to sit with residents to talk about topics, their interests and the old days.
As Mum's care needs have increased and changed over the years, it is reassuring to know that as things have progressed Haviland is the right home for her. Haviland caters for many stages of dementia and provides high levels of care and nursing. We enjoy a good relationship with the Haviland staff, all of who are very friendly, approachable and professional.

As her care needs have evolved over the years, it's reassuring to know you feel confident that Haviland House is the right place for her, where we cater to all stages of dementia across our five households. Our residents lie at the heart of everything we do, and we take pride in dedicating time each day to activities like reminiscence, engaging with their interests, or simply enjoying a chat over a cup of tea. Our vision is to ensure that all those in need of care living fulfilling safe and secure lives and I am pleased to hear that this is being realised at Haviland House. Please don't hesitate to reach out to me or the team if there's anything more we can do to support your mum. Thank you again for your kind review.
