After a traumatic conversation which resulted in hospital admission, I was more than glad to see my brother back at Windermere.
Here he is well looked after with extensive care. The problems coming from his hospital visit will soon be rectified now he is safely home.
We look forward to enhance entertainment
shortly. More suitable to the type of residents, not children.

I stayed for Sunday lunch which was a leek and potato pie with garlic bread. It was served piping hot, well-presented, excellent portion served by a member of staff with great grace and care - as if in a proper restaurant. Best of all, it was full of flavour - lots of cheese! Pudding was pineapple and
cherry cake with custard - delicious. A lovely day - thank you chef and staff!

Right from the start of our experience with Windermere, the staff were all clearly dedicated to their residents and to ensuring their stay was as enjoyable as possible. They were very kind to my mother while she was there and always patient and understanding, with a smile. Nothing was too much trouble
and the overall ethos was relaxed and easy-going. The staff were keen for residents to be able to enjoy all of the many facilities and to have the freedom to do as much they they were able to while they live there. The management were always very understanding and helpful and responded to queries very promptly. The overall standards and the setting of Windermere House are lovely.

The gentle, kind and peaceful attitude of the staff is backed up and provided by a diligent professional manager. The home went to great lengths to ensure that Mum was cared for in the best way possible way. Most of my contact was with the manager. Regular phone calls and updates on Mum's progress and
all questions answered to my satisfaction. Thanks to Manager.

I want to say a big thank you to all the staff at the home. I can't recommend Windermere House enough if you want the best care for your loved one. I visited every day and my partner was always clean and comfortable. I was always made welcome any time of the day. The staff allowed my partner to keep
his dignity. They were kind, compassionate, caring, tirelessly hard-working while being totally professional as a team. The room was always clean and bright. We are so grateful.

Well, my daughter has been here for six months now, she's looking radiant, the best she has ever looked. She's so happy and so contented, that's down to the manager and her team. The food is excellent, the home is spotless. When I go to visit, always a lovely smile from all staff, it's not like a care
home, it's home from home. My daughter is always doing something, doing her colouring, gardening, going out for walks, going to get an ice cream, I could go on. When I found Buttermere House, I thought I had died and gone to heaven.

My daughter has lived at Buttermere House for over ten years and she loves it there! It definitely is her home and she loves being part of the "Buttermere family". The manager is amazing and you can tell how much she cares for all the residents and she runs the home very efficiently. All the staff are
so friendly and keep me up-to-date with everything relating to my daughter. The home is clean and tidy and if there is something to celebrate, an event, birthday, etc. the home is decorated and everyone joins in. The garden and surrounding area is amazing with so much space which suits my daughter as she loves being outside and going for long walks in a very safe environment.

Buttermere House continues to exceed my expectations in every way for the care of my brother. It's fantastic to see him happy, relaxed and in great health when we visit him or do family video calls every week. The staff are personable, they clearly care about the residents who they work tirelessly to
care for. My brother has been at Buttermere for several years now and I continue to be comforted knowing he's living a happy life in a great environment with caring people.

Buttermere House has been home to my son for a long time and is absolutely brilliant. It truly is a home for him with fantastic carers who look after him so well. He lives with 7 other people and is very happy. All his needs are met with care and consideration. The staff go out of their way to make
sure he is happy. He loves aeroplanes so they take him to a little airport nearby to watch the planes. They go out on outings and plan trips to places that the residents will enjoy.
When we visit him we always feel welcomed and it is very evident that the home Is a happy relaxed (but safe) environment.

Windermere House

from Jacqueline B (Mother of Resident) published on 5 July 2024

I do not recommend Windermere House. My daughter was there from January to March 2024. It's such a shame that a negative review cannot be written as it is rejected. By only allowing positive reviews for care homes this does not reflect on the care your loved ones will receive and how unfair is that.
My daughter was not looked after while at Windermere House. We had to supply all equipment that she needed and trained the staff how to care for her. They advertise that they cater for brain injuries, the staff are not adequately trained. They also advertise hydro pool but this never had water in. My daughter was not treated with dignity or kindness. She is a young woman with two young children and had a stroke after her second daughter was born. The manager restricted the children's visiting times which was not fair or kind. Please don't be fooled how clean the care home is. It's behind the scenes which is hidden.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on our service. We are deeply sorry to read about your experience of our home as this falls well below our usually high standards. Your concerns have been investigated and addressed internally to ensure this does not happen again. As part of our ongoing improvement of the service, we now have a new manager in place who has many years of experience of managing ABI services. We take all feedback and lessons learned seriously and a number of improvements have already been made.

Very friendly and kind staff. It is very reassuring to see my father settling into his new surroundings. Today is Fish and Chip Friday, a lovely meal rekindling many childhood memories. His room is surrounded by nature and songbirds.

My husband was in Windermere House House for end-of-life care. He was always treated with the utmost compassion and dignity. His room was bright, clean and modern. Everyone was very professional and nothing was too much trouble. The staff were always cheerful and available to help if there was a problem.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Windermere House.

I have found this to be a perfect care home for my sister. The staff fully understand her needs, which are many, including autism. They understand the importance of a timely routine and are able to constantly reassure. The staff understand the importance of stimulation and as such my sister is very
happy living at Buttermere House. She enjoys an excellent room and very easy wheelchair access throughout the home. The home is always kept spotless. Trips out are varied and frequent which she really enjoys.

I visit regularly, every few weeks. The residents are very well cared for by the staff. The home is clean and tidy. The staff are friendly, polite and welcoming. There’s a cosy and warm atmosphere inside. The surrounding gardens and grounds are a joy to walk around. My daughter really enjoys her walks
around the estate and beyond. I’m confident that she is happy there. The residents and staff are like a big family. At Christmas, Easter, Halloween, birthdays and other special occasions, the staff do a great job decorating the home. The summer BBQs are also fun to attend.
