Etheldred House

from Richard K (Respite Resident) published on 28 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

I have been a temporary resident in Etheldred House for four weeks while my wife was in hospital. She has now been discharged and is recovering well. Although it was a big change to move from home to Etheldred I have been enabled to handle it well because:

The building is well designed and constructed

for its purpose. I have a bright single room with an en-suite. My bed and electrically adjustable chair are comfortable, and I have no pressure sores. Visitors may come at any time. The food is excellent, varies daily, and I am able to order 'off menu'. Clearly
the staff really enjoy caring for us; they work hard, from the lady who cleans my room each day to senior management, whom I now know personally. There are regular staff training sessions, including fire safety. There is an excellent atmosphere. We are very satisfied with Etheldred and recommend it warmly.

Reply from Santall Horn, Home Manager at Etheldred House

Thank you very much for taking the time to do a review and for the kind words. We will all miss you when you join your wife at home but please remember you are welcome back any day. We wish you all the best.

So lovely to be amongst you all in the last 2 days visiting mum. Lots of lovely memories were made. It's a very happy place with happy staff and it makes an incredible difference to a visitor. We are very comforted seeing her, being able to easily talk to staff about her care, being introduced to new
faces who seem instantly to know mum and her ways.

Buchan House Care Home

from Karen B (Daughter of Resident) published on 28 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My mother was extremely well cared for and loved by the carers. I never had any concerns. She was always kept clean, fed and watered and not left on her own all the time. As she was bed bound, remained in her room. I would highly recommend this home and became friends with the staff myself. They always
kept me up to date and as a frequent visitor I know mum was loved.

Reply from Tanya Watson, Home Manager at Buchan House Care Home

Aliwal Manor Care Home

from J W (Niece of Resident) published on 17 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5

Generally the home is a family, home environment. There is plenty of activities going on for the residents to enjoy, food is variable and home made, special requests will be adhered to e.g. if a resident would like a rhubarb crumble etc. The rooms are cleaned on a constant basis as well as the other
areas in each unit. The sheets, clothes are washed and ironed and placed back in the rooms quickly. They are constantly trying to improve the home for the residents.

Fitzwilliam House

from G H (Husband of Resident) published on 15 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My Wife has lived at Fitzwilliam House Care Home, Cottenham, since early October 2024. Due to family circumstances, our two daughters and I decided we should test her reaction to living in a residential care home, as her Alzheimer's was advancing and I would not be able to care for her at home for much
longer, and our daughters were in full time, very responsible, employment. From her first day, she settled thanks to the wonderful staff at Fitzwilliam House and the amazing patience and care shown to her by carers (and others!). All aspects of "Fitz" are great and seem to be focused on one thing - The wellbeing of the residents - including food quality - well done

Thank you for all the help, love and care for our dad who is very precious to us all, he was in a bad care home before and was an awful experience, thankfully he ended up at St Georges Court 2024.
Since then he has improved and is very happy, we are happy, staff are amazing, the management are superb,
all brilliant. Sadly I live in Derbyshire which is a bit far for regular visits, but I know he is in safe hands. I work in a care home also which I love. Well done all looking forward to seeing u all in March.

I would highly recommend this care home to anyone. My great aunt has settled in wonderfully, and she always seems very happy when we visit. The home is always bustling with activities and entertainment, which helps keep the residents engaged and lively. It's also very clean and well-maintained, which
gives me peace of mind. Most importantly, the staff are incredibly caring and attentive. It's clear they genuinely care for the residents, and that makes all the difference. Overall, we've had a fantastic experience.

Earlier this week a busy staff member immediately recognised my friend was becoming increasingly agitated and it was reassuring to see the staff member immediately and gently deal with the situation and take my friend to another area where she then settled in her own room, in bed I was given the option
to wait a while but left shortly after seems my friend sleeping.

Sadly after being at Primrose Croft Care Home for three years, my father passed away in December 24.
Initially my father was not keen on being in the care home, but it was not long before he became very settled and very much at home which was primarily down to the excellent/outstanding friendly and
caring staff.
Thank you Primrose Croft for taking care of my father and keep up the good work.

When I visit my granny, it's amazing to see her so happy! She's made so many friends. It's really light and bright with a cute garden to sit in. I don't live locally so I tend to visit when I can, but I'm able to keep updated through the homes social media page, which is brilliant! My granny would definitely
recommend St George's to her friends when the time comes.

My mother had her 90th Birthday this month. I discussed this with the senior managers at the care home, who exceeded all expectations by supporting us with a party at a weekend so that a small group of relatives and friends could attend (and even provided a cake). They also had an internal party on
the day of the Birthday as well, as it was not possible for some key family to attend.
