Hazell Court

Lovely little place, they did a wonderful job of getting my father into the same home as his wife. They were extremely helpful and willing to do what they could to make this happen. The family are really pleased. The staff are friendly, informative and encourage the residents to take part in everyday
life. The family are happy!

Hazell Court

from Pauline T (Friend of Resident) published on 29 February 2024

In need of complete re-decoration. I visited someone in a tiny, ugly room at the end of a corridor. The whole ambience is of neglect and shabbiness with furniture that looks as if was donated by a charity shop. I was horrified that old people have to die in such horrible conditions. No Pictures or colour,
depressing and nasty. Even the small garden has ugly garish plastic plants everywhere. Horrific. Considering that they charge £1500 minimum per week, you would be better off in a prison cell. The smell exuding from every part is enough to make you gag.

Reply from Rika Botha, Manager at Hazell Court

Whilst we take all complaints seriously, we must respectfully refute this this particular review. Our home is not without colour nor is it a depressing environment. All our bedrooms, communal spaces and corridors are decorated in a homely manner with individual wallpapers, pictures and other items chosen by the individuals who live within the home. Likewise, our gardens, are designed in collaboration with those living in the home. In terms of our fees, the rate quoted below is inaccurate.

After my mother was diagnosed with Dementia, I had a difficult time during Covid with the care home she had been placed in. Luckily, Prince of Wales Care Home came to my rescue after it was recommended to us by a care professional. Mum settled instantly and loved the homely atmosphere where the staff
had endless patience and kindness and where Mum enjoyed all the daily activities. Mum loved to dance right up to the end when she recently passed away. I thank the Prince of Wales Care Home staff from the bottom of my heart. I cannot recommend the Prince of Wales Care Home enough.

Risby Park Nursing Home

from Michael K (Son of Resident) published on 5 May 2022

My mother is a resident (since 28 January 2022). I doubt any care home is perfect as they have an extremely challenging job. At Risby Park I have thus far found the staff to be kind and helpful. Risby Park tries to provide a homely rather than institutional environment. The building may be a little
tired now, but that is more than off set by the welcoming and caring staff, many of whom seem to have genuine warmth towards my mother.

Risby Park Nursing Home

My mother was admitted to Risby Park from West Suffolk Hospital. She was very ill and not doing well and this was especially hard for me as I live overseas. The love and care my mother received during her short stay there were exceptional. The staff are friendly, caring, considerate, and very accommodating.
I could not have wished for a better place for my mother to spend her last days.
I highly recommend Risby Park.

Note: My mother could not participate in any activities.

Prince of Wales House

Our dear friend of over sixty years spent her last days in the care of extremely loving and tender carers who all treated her with dignity as a member of their ‘family’. At our age, we have visited many care homes for relatives and friends and have to say The Prince Of Wales House tops them all - every
member of staff from the top down are genuinely dedicated to a job they love.

Beech House

from Angela H (Daughter of Resident) published on 6 December 2017

Mum has absolutely flourished whilst in the care of Beech House. The carers go out of their way to know each resident personally and give attention exactly as needed. Care is given to involving each resident in as much or as little as they wish - and there is always something going on to stimulate residents.
Rooms are neat, clean and tidied daily and every conceivable care is given to each resident individually. We are so grateful for the care and thoughtfulness that every carer gives to the residents here - they truly go out of their way to be kind, courteous and respectful to them all - whilst creating a warm and very loving environment for each individual resident. The relief at finding Beech House has been enormous for us - Mum is happy, extremely well taken care of, safe, warm and well fed. Bless you all at Beech House for all that you do - we appreciate you more than words could ever express.

I am very pleased with the high standards of care that my mother (who suffers from dementia) receives. All the staff are kind and caring, following the example of the excellent manager. The manager is friendly and helpful and always available if you need a chat.
Staff are always coming up with new
ways to enable residents to continue to make choices, for example, they prepare 2 meals on small plates and show the residents so that they can see what the meals are and decide what they would like to eat.
The home has a beautiful garden that surrounds the building so that rooms look out onto it. There are various activities that the residents can be involved in, only the other day a harpist sat in Mum's room playing to her.

The manager runs a well organised, friendly and caring home. Our mum has received only the very best of care from the staff, since moving here. In what can be a challenging, difficult, emotional and confusing time for someone in the ever changing stages of dementia, the residents are treated like family,
with patience and genuine kindness. All the staff are cheerful and treat residents with care, dignity and respect. It's not easy to see your mother's health and state of mind deteriorating, but under the professional management, staff have kept us well informed, no question is considered inappropriate, and above all, we have the peace of mind that our mother is being very well cared for.
